I want to replace the battery on my 4s

My 4s was purchased in December, 2011.  I want to replace the battery but Apple makes it an overcomplicated chore.  I'm skilled enough to do it myself but am concerned about aftermarket lithium Ion batteries.  Apple wants you to pay $79 plus shipping to be without your phone for a week or more, (probably would be three weeks).  I've seen the Youtube video on how to replace the battery.  It's not that hard.  Apple would make me a permanent fan if I could walk into an Apple store, give them $40, and have the battery replaced while I wait.  I would even be willing to take the battery with me and do it myself they would sell me one.
Anybody have suggestions for me?

No. Apple does not sell parts.
If you do it yourself or let a third party do it for you, Apple will never touch your iPhone in case any type of fault in future.

  • Replacing the battery on Stellite Pro A10?

    Hi all,
I have been getting the message "Critical Battery Life" on my laptop for quite a while now. I now want to replace the battery because I killed the other one:(. However I have not done this before. How do I change the battery? Is there any web sites u know which illustrates the process. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Cigdem,
With modern notebooks/batteries it is normally quite safe to leave the battery installed when using the AC supply. The notebooks electronics will ensure that only a small amount of charge will be supplied to the battery to ensure that it is topped up.
It is still worth running the notebook on battery periodically just to drain it and then allow it to recharge normally by reconnecting the AC supply. This will help to keep the battery in optimum condition.
Replacing the battery is quite easy. There will be a small catch near the battery which you slide to one side in order to release the battery. Your user handbook will have all the details.

  • Is it possible to replace the battery of a MacBook Air?

hello, I just want to know if I can replace the battery of my MacBook Air?

If an older Air out of warranty, yes, however, only Apple sells genuine Apple batteries.   Aftermarket batteries have many issues I wont list.
It depends on your skills, ifixit.com has many videos on doing things yourself.    While I consider changing a battery incredibly easy, its a "hard" skill for some.
So your question is subjective to be certain.
IS is replaceable? yes, its a consumable and meant to be replaced.

  • How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

How do i know if I need to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro?

There are a few ways (none of which are covered in the above link). On more recent OS X versions, when you click the battery icon in the menu bar you may see a "Service Battery" or "Replace Now" message. If you aren't seeing that, the system probably thinks the battery is fine.
Also, in your System Information utility, there is a Power section that provides Health information for the battery, with a Condition status and Cycle Count. If the Condition is Normal and your battery is under 300 cycles (for removable batteries) or 1000 cycles (for non-removable batteries) it is not time to replace it yet.
But of course, the other time to replace it is if you don't think you're getting the runtime you want out of it.
If none of those is a problem, don't worry about it.

  • Time to replace the battery?

I have had my ipod touch 4G for over 2 years. It has been working great, but lately it won't hold a charge for a day. I dont have anything running. At first I thought it was just all the app updates since iOS7. Now I am wondering if it's time to replace the battery? I use my ipod a lot.

It is up to you whether you want to shell ourt for batter replacement or just live with the shorter battery life.

  • I already replaced the battery in my iPod nano, can I still get the replacement?

I applied for the replacement of my iPod nano, 1st gen. I replaced the battery myself a couple of years ago. Can I still get the replacement? I'm still waiting for my box to send the nano back in but don't want to send it if it's just going to get rejected. Is it possible I could even get charged for evaluation if I send it in?
    Thanks,
    Mike

The recall is due to the original batteries being faulty
If you replaced the battery yourself, then you don't have a faulty battery anymore so why bother sending it back?

  • Can I replace the battery in my HP Notebook?

Battery on my Pavillion dv5 notebook won't charge beyond 53%.  Can I get a new one installed?

    Marble,
    Welcome to the HP Forum.
Yes, you can replace the battery.
You want to check the battery first -- and make sure the issue is not a faulty or weak charger / AC adapter.
The following will help with both concerns:
Testing and Calibrating the Battery (Windows 7)
Testing and Using the AC Power Adapter
Be sure, when and if you do buy a batter and / or a new AC adapter that you buy for quality and not for price.
Be very careful of cheap knock-off brands sold online:  just because the name of the website has the word 'hp' in it, the product they are selling you might be a cheap, poorly made, apt to blow up, piece of junk.
If you want to be sure the product you buy is made for your computer, buy the HP product for your computer.

  • I want to replace the optical drive in my iBook with a SATA-SSD.

I want to replace the optical drive in my iBook with a SATA-SSD (using a HDD-caddy PATA to SATA) and use that as my OS disk. Is there a speed difference between the ATA connections of the optical drive and the hard drive? Mactracker tells me that the Hard Drive Bus is Ultra ATA/100 (ATA-6), but there is no information to the Bus of the optical drive. Is it the same?

There may be a kit from OWC to replace the optical drive in the old iBook G4 with an SSD. They have similar items for other portable Macs of the era where optical drives still were inside.
They do have what they call a 'legacy' ATA/IDE SSD series of portable computer drive for use in older type architecture, but I don't see the kit to replace the optical drive with an SSD on the same page... They do offer a live chat on the page, though. So it is possible to ask questions and hope you get matching results...

I'd considered upgrading my iBook G4 (mid-2005) 12" 1.33GHz computer with an SSD because the original 38GB HDD is rather tight with Leopard OS X 10.5.8 installed and some applications. And it has the max RAM at 1.5GB. Plus it would need a new battery since both batteries from Apple failed early on with low use cycles. I do like the idea of wear-leveling technologies in their Mercury Legacy drives. And some of the external enclosures look durable enough.
Hopefully they can answer some questions.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Is it worth replacing the battery on my 4 year old macbook pro?

I purchased my macbook pro 13 inch basic model summer 2009.
The battery is basically dead so I have to keep it plugged in all the time.
I'm wondering if it is worth replacing the battery this late?
Should I just wait it out until I have to buy a new laptop?
How long does a macbook generally last?
    Thanks!

of course - i'm still using my late 08 Macbook Unibody and have no issues.
if your Macbook Pro still works for you - spend the extra $$$ and replace the battery - if you want it to last even longer - upgrade the RAM to 8GB and change the hard drive to SSD.
    tolal investment = $50(RAM) $100 - $150 (battery) $100 - $200 (SSD) = $400 Max and you'll end up with a very fast macbook pro.

  • I had two files named graphics and I replaced one graphics file with another which was the wrong one.  Can I undo my replacement?  I move the wrong one, which was on my desktop into another one and that is when it as me if I wanted to replace the file.

I accidently replaced a file with another.  Can I undo my action?
I had two files named graphics.  One was on my desktop and another was within another file called solitarie.  I move the one on my desktop (wrong file) into the solitarie file and was asked if I wanted to replace the graphics file in the solitarie folder (the correct one).  I said yes accidently and then remembered that I had made a mistake.  If I use undo, it only move the wrong file back to the desktop.  Is there an undo of replace?

Sorry, but's that's why you get the warning. "Replace" means just that - the new file over-writes the old one. There is no undo.

  • After changing the battery in my iphone 4s, the phone will not boot up. I only see the apple and when it sits for a few minutes, a code shows above it. What is going on? Did I damage the phone by replacing the battery?

My sister gave me her iphone 4s for my son. It needed a new battery so, I bought one and replaced it. after doing so, it will not power up. I can only see the apple on the screen and when left for a few minutes.... 10 lines of numbers and codes show up at the top of the screen. Did I ruin the iphone by replacing the battery? Was a simple switch so I don't understand what is going on. Have never had one of these before.

    iPhones are not user servicable.
Take the device to a competent repair person or buy a new one.

  • My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2  seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?

My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2+ seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?  It doesn't hold a charge either...

    EmadJamal,
the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

  • My iphone 4s is over 2 years old and I need to replace the battery. How much will this cost at an Apple store?

I have an iphone 4s that is  over 2 years old. The phone's battery is no longer able to hold a  charge for an acceptable length of time.  Assuming I need to replace the battery, how much will this cost at an Apple store?

Basically, I'm new to Apple, despite using them before, but I've never actually owned my own.
Since buying this phone off a colleague at work, I seem to be having problems with it. First, I noticed how rubbish the battery life is, then my charger almost went up in flames and thirdly my camera lense is scratched beyond belief.
I know the phone isn't within warranty, although I was lead to believe it was before and during buying it, so basically I'm extremely disappointed with the general make up of iPhone's considering they cost such a **** of a lot of money, you'd think they'd be built to last.
Back to my main point, how much would it cost for a new battery? Or a new camera lense if anyone can help me with that? (I know that the back of the phone was refurbished just before my buying it, so literally just the camera lense)
    Thanks!
So basically it sounds like you bought an abused used iPhone and somehow that makes the phone subpar because dispite the abuse it should still last forever and look like new? Batteries don't last forever, even under ideal conditions, so your expectatoins are unrealistic. Take it in and have an estimate done.
