I want to replace the hard drive on my 15inch mid2012 macbook pro with a SSD but I just cannot clone the HD or reimage the SSD and I've tried everything. Please help...
What can i do to format, image and use the SSD as the primary drive on my macbook pro?
Install the SSD in an enclosure and connect it to the MBP via USB.
Open Disk Utility>Erase and format the drive to Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
Then select Disk Utility>Restore.
Drag the internal HDD to the Source field. Drag the SSD to the Destination field. Click on the Restore button.
This may take a few hours depending upon how much data has to be transferred.
When complete, Boot the MBP with the OPTION key.
Select the SSD and if it boots the MBP, swap the two drives.

I have used Super Duper to copy my old drive to my new drive. But I wanted to do a fresh install. How do I go about this?Did you do the Super Duper clone before you tried to reinstall the OS? If so, the original install disc is likely earlier than 10.4.11, and that may be why you are getting the message.
When trying to reinstall the OS, did you select the "Archive and Install" option? If not, you might try that. Here's a link that might help:

What is the best external hard drive to purchase for a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.7.5?
I'm looking into purchasing a new external hard drive for video editing purposes. I own a Macbook Pro which operates on OS X Lion (10.7.5). I would like at least 1TB of memory (2TB maximum) and a FireWire 800 port for a reasonable price. Any suggestions of brands or specific models?
LaCie is a good brand name.
Avoid WD "combos" ... the pre-packaged boxes with WD drives. WD tends to pick controller/interface cards that fail and scramble the disk data.
But you can go to macsales.com and buy a "OnTheGo" enclosure and add "bare drives" from WD as their drives are good.

Hard drive doesn't mount on Macbook Pro with Mavericks

I have installed Mavericks on my Macbook Pro.
I was working on a doc file on Open Office when the computer froze.
Had to hard shut it down and when I turned it back on I got a screen with Disk utility menu proposing to restaure or to reinstall Mavericks. When I choose the second option it tells me that the hard drive is locked.
Took it of the computer and tried to access it from another one but it doesn't even mount. When I go to disk utility I only see the hidden partition and not the main one.
Any idea how to retrieve my data?
Many thanks.Just how did you map to this drive in "drive window?" I can see the drive in a window I open when clicking on "TimeCapsule" in the navigation pane for the "TimeCapsule." [Follow?] I can even save a file to the hard drive in the TimCapsule, but my backups continue to fail with the message that the drive image cannot be created.
I've even tried erasing the hard drive using the AirPort utility (just updated the software). I can fast erase, but the full erase works forever without advancing the progress bar.
I think I have a hard dribe problem.

Music app has disappeared and i have tried everything please help
My music app is completely gone and i have no idea where it has gone. i have tried restarting,resetting,and other tricks but non have worked if u have an answer for me, i would really appreciate it.
Have you done a spotlight search? Swipe down from the middle of the screen with two fingers, and type Music in the spotlight search. You should see the Music icon display in the list. See if it is in a folder (if it is the folder name will be listed next to the icon). If it is not in a folder, but displays, see if you can find it on any of your Home screens.
If you still cannot find it go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout. This will reset your Home screens and the original Apple core apps will show up on the first Home Screen (including Music).

This is primitive SATA. It is a SATA connection to an IDE bus. However, the fact that you have a 160 gig drive already installed tells me the motherboard will accept Large Block Addressing 48 bit (LBA48) which means you are not really constrained by size. I am sure a 500 gig drive will work and will bet a 1 TB would also work. I will also bet you would have problems with a high density drive of 2 TB or higher. The existing drive is a IDE, which means it is connected to the motherboard with a flat ribbon cable. You will have a hard time finding an IDE drive on the market these days. It will have to be SATA. Just attach a SATA data cable between the hard drive and the motherboard. You will likely need to get a molex (white 4-pin) to SATA power adapter, too, but those often come with the hard drive or are available for a couple bucks at the store where hard drives are sold.
You should be able to clone the old drive to the new using cloning software. I like and recommend Acronis True Image Home. If I were doing this I would connect the new SATA drive to the motherboard port with the side cover off and also bring power to the SATA drive. I would leave the original drive in and boot from the cloning software disk doing a proportional resize so all partitions are expanded the same percentage. After the clone is complete remove the original drive and bolt the SATA drive in its place. I would just tell you to add a second hard drive but the computer only has space for one unless you want to remove the card reader.
You may need to enable the SATA ports in the BIOS if they are not currently in use. The motherboard picture page linked above tells how to enter the BIOS. Post back if you need more help.

I have the latest 13" Macbook Pro with Retina Display. I just recently installed Windows 7 through Bootcamp assistant but when I am in Windows the internet doesn't work. How can I fix this??
I found where to download it in bootcamp, I just can't find my usb drive I will need to buy a new one and then give it a shot. I am sure I will be back to ask more questions... thanks for your help.

Theres almost a trick to it for first time users, goto SETTINGS...General......Cellular (if Verizon) ....Personal Hotspot, turn it on.....turn on wifi on your Mac, select your Iphone. Enter password.
If you take too long doing it, youll need turn turn off and on real quick the "personal hotspot" slider on the Phone.......then go quick again thur the Mac. -

When I try to add video to iMovie on iPod Touch, none of the videos on the Touch show up to be added. I've restarted the iPod twice, closed all the apps and then reopened iMovie. Please help!
