I want to reset my IPhone 4S but don't know the passcode?

I'm having problems with my phone and want to reset it however it's asking for a passcode, I have no idea what this is and have never used it before, I don't have a passcode lock on my phone either. Is there an original default code or how do I reset it without inputting the code?

When the iPhone crashes, locks up in a way that prevents the iPhone from responding to being turned off, or just isn't working as it should (you'd be surprised at how many problems can be solved by a simple reset) you need to reset the iPhone. Here's how:
Reset the iPhone by holding the sleep/wake button at the top right of the device and the home button at the bottom center of the face at the same time.
Hold them both until you see the screen go black. In some cases, you may need to keep holding them even after the red power off slider appears. If it does, just keep holding it.
Wait until the white Apple logo appears.
When this happens, you can let go - the iPhone is rebooting.
An iPhone reset will not normally remove or delete any data or settings. However, the term reset is also sometimes used to mean deleting all content from the iPhone and/or restoring from a backup.

If you have a verified rescue email then you can get an email sent to that email address to reset the security questions as shown in the article below:

If you do not have access to the rescue email or you do not receive the reset email then you will need to contact AppleCare for assistance:

  • How do i reset an iPad to factory settings without knowing the passcode?

We laid off an employee but don't have his passcode to reset the ipad to it's factory settings.  Is there anyway I can do this?  I tried following the directions I found:
If you don’t know the passcode to go into the ipad and reset it, you simply need to connect the iPad to iTunes.
Connect your iPad to the USB port on your computer, open iTunes and on the left side of the panel will appear a category for Devices... select the iPad. The summary window will have the information on the iPad and below that the choice for Restore. Select Restore, and you will have to do some confirming usually, and the system will go to work restoring the iPad to the factory settings.
But it says it won't connect to iTunes until I enter the passcode:  "iTunes could not connect to the iPad ****** because it is locked with a passcode.  You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes."
    Any ideas?
    Marcine

Put the iPad into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • Just got iphone, stupid, but don't know how to pickup voice mails

Just got new iphone, don't know how to pick up voicemail.

ChrisJ4203  said: "Check with your carrier. Voicemail is a carrier function. If you go to the voicemail tab on the phone, it should already be set up, however the carrier may require a passcode."
Maybe if it's posted twice, you'll be able to read the answer.

  • HT1212 my ipod is disabled, but i DO know the passcode. and iv never connected it to a computer or anything. how do i fix this?

and i dont have a computer to downlaod itunes.

    Disabled
    Without iTunes:
If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone and use Remote Wipe to erase the contents of your device. If you have been using iCloud to back up, you may be able to restore the most recent backup to reset the passcode after the device has been erased.
You can also wipe the iOS device by installing the FindMyiPhone app on another iOS device and using that app to wipe the device.
    With iTunes
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

  • HT201210 Can somebody please help me, PLEASE!?! I have sentimental pics on my ipad but I have locked myself out, and don't know the passcode to unlock it.

The sentimental pics on here can't be replaced cuz they are of my son and his best friend Scooter, his dog. We moved and couldn't keep him so I had to take him to the Humane Society where he was adopted.  I have tried to get the info of the new family that has him, but of course for privacy issues, they won't give it to me. So now that you know how desperate I am, please is there ANY way that I can restore the ipad without knowing the code? My son is heartbroken already at loosing him, but if I can't restore the ipad, he will loose all the pics that he has of him. I can verify any and all info of the purchase or anything that would need verified.

I did try to get help by going into the local Apple store.  However, I was told that the only way to get it working again, now that I am locked out it, is to get on itunes and do a complete factory reset. This of course would fix the locked out issue but I would loose all the pics.
