I want to resize my extension toolbars to save vertical space. Running Ff 3.6.15 on Mac OS 10.4.11

There's plenty of room for some of these toolbars to share page altitude, but I can't resize and relocate them with a click. I think Explorer does this, but I haven't used that in years.

You may be able to drag and drop the icons from one toolbar onto another, you can then hide the toolbar that you no longer need. For details on how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

I use 3-4 different toolbars for different things. In IE8 I can move them around so they are next to each other on the same line. This saves space and makes the browsing space bigger. I can't do this in FF3.6.10. Is there a way to override this? Thanks.

Not having the flexibilty to move toolbars to be next to each other is better?
The individual items on my installed toolbars don't move, and I can't place 2 toolbars (both of which are short) next to each other, so I have to have them stuck below each other which looks odd and wastes space.
And that's better?

I want to install and extension globally

I am an it admin and want to install an extension globally, but placing the .xpi file in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\browser\extensions\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins and restarting the browser does not prompt to install the plugin. I noticed that the cli tags have been depreciated so i did not give that a shot. The computers are windows 7 64 bit and firefox version is 35.

Did you rename the xpi file to the ID ({id}.xpi or email.xpi) as defined via the install.rdf file?

Are you sure you want to change the extension from... BLOCKS Finder Editing

This is weird and is driving me nuts, but some Macs do not allow further Finder editing of file or folder names if I change their names (usually including numbers, dots and so on) in such a way that I receive the warning:
Are you sure you want to change the extension from..?
After I confirm that I want to change the name, the Finder does it but gets locked for editing (I can do other things) and does not allow any further file or folder editing until I force quit of Finder or reboot the Mac.
I have found that if right after confirming that I want to change the name I select the file and hit return (which selects its name), no problem arises. But I must do it in one or two seconds, or else it will be too late.
IN SUMMARY:
1. Change file or folder name including numbers and dots at the end.
2. Get the message "Are you sure you want to change the extension from..."
3. Confirm that I want to change the name.
4. FROM NOW ON, I CANNOT CHANGE THE NAME OF ANY FILE OR FOLDER UNTIL I FORCE FINDER QUIT. Unless of course I do the trick indicated above real quick!
Any hint? Any way to know what is going on? This could be a bug of Mac OS X 10.4.x or earlier or a problem with a third party application. But how to know what is going on to prevent it? As said, some Macs show this issue, but not others.

Hint: some file or folder name changes are more prone to cause the issue than others. For instance, renaming a folder (and confirming it) as:
Testing.r00
brings the bug 100% of the times.

The message is a warning that you are doing something that the OS thinks is going to possibly cause a problem. You are creating the situation and the OS is doing nothing other than what you are asking it to do.
I don't know any exact answer why you can't access your files, but I do know that there are a few characters and things that will cause problems because they mimic names of invisible files. When you make a name that is close to being the same it can treat the file as the special one... meaning you can only access it via Terminal.
Ones you cannot use at all: the colon (:), slash (/), single or double period as first characters. (taken from Finder Help with a naming files search) It is best to stay away from any special characters as a rule. Also avoid using a period and 3 character suffix unless it is one that you are purposefully assigning so the file belongs to an application.
That said... even with the over 200 applications on my system I couldn't repeat your Testing.r00 problem. So, I don't know if it may be application related or not.

Resizing using actual measurements in inches. I want to resize an 8 x 10 to an 11 x 14.

I need to resize my photos so I can upload them to a printing service such as walgreen's so that I can pick them up the same day. I want to resize from 8 x 10 to 11 x 14. I enter 11 in the width and when I enter the height the width changes to some strange number. If I can't resize to what I need then elements is just about useless to me. I followed the tutorial but did not get the same result.

8x10 and 11x14 are different aspect ratios. You can not get there by constraining proportions.
What you can do is open a blank file 11x14 with the same resolution as that of the 8x10 file, then copy/paste the 8x10 on this background.

I see youhave gotten recommendatons for using WinClone or CampTune. I have used both and they both work well.
You have asked about using the WIndows 7 utility to backup your drive and restor it onto a larger partition. I will tell you fro experience that this will probably not do what you want, and may do something that you don't want. You can use the Windows 7 native backup tool to make a backup of your Windows 7 partition. It will most liekly end-up making a dive image of the whole drive. When yourestore that backup, it will try to re-create teh partitions of exactly the same size as they were when the backup was taken, so it won't increase your partition size for you. Worse, since Windows doesn't natively know how to read./write HFS+ volumes, the backup will make a partition for your MacOS (replacing any you may have now), except that the copy restored by WIndows will be totally worthless, and you will not be able to boot MacOS from it, or even read it under MacOS.
Now I will tell you that I've also had some fairly good success working with the free tool CloneZilla. Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, and everything else mentioned does cost you money, I thought I would throw it out. CloneZilla is not as easy to use as the tools mentioned, but it has worked for me int hte past, so it is something to consider. I tend to use CampTune myself, but that was because I purchased a bundle deal for them and it was included in that deal.

I remove toolbars in the options menu and each time I re-load they come back. I want the ability to remove toolbars permanently.

In the options menu, I remove the toolbars that I don't want to see. i.e. Conduit Engine and Add-on Bar. They only remain removed for that session. When I re-load FF, they are back. I want the ability to remove toolbars I don't want and have them STAY removed.

You cannot do that directly, you can only cause the container which holds the JTable to change size. As long as that container has a LayoutManager like BorderLayout then the JTable will resize with the container (Like a JFrame)

Illustrator thinks I want to resize an object...

Hi, so this is an issue that really annoys me and I'm not sure if there's a solution for it and/or if someone has complained about it.
Basically, if I make a small shape, something about 50x80px and I try to grab the shape to move it to a different location, illustrator just assumes that I want to resize the object and acts as if I grabbed the corner points. I specifically try to click away form the resizing points and it still does it. Its really annoying because the only way I can grab the object is by zooming in and making sure the cursor is now a lot smaller than the shape to move the object. The problem with doing this is that by zooming it forces me to scroll with the object to the place I want to be.
When this happens, my cursor doesn't change to the 'resizing' cursor... the one with the 2 small arrows pointing opposite directions. It stays as the regular cursor.
I am using the Illustrator CC updated to the latest as of this date.

I believe it is safest to hold Alt/Option when you use the Direct Selection Tool, to avoid the danger of dragging only some Anchor Points.
I wonder whether it is time for the list.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file, and when it is not caused by issues with opening a file from external media, see below. You may have tried/done some of them already; 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
If possible/applicable, you should save current artwork first, of course.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to at least 5 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall (ticking the box to delete the preferences), run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Uninstall that extension.
There are a couple of places to check for the Ask toolbar:

i'm just not seeing where i can do this.The "Device native" setting is 720 x 480 (640 x 480) with frame rate varied depending on the CPU power of your platform. Basically, there are no manual "display size" adjustments for the QT "Recording" feature. The "Device Native" option is fixed NTSC while MPEG-4 and H.264 outputs automatically vary in size and frame rate depending on your platform CPU's ability to capture and convert.

Adobe exchange wants updated version of Extension Mgr

Adobe exchange keeps giving me this message each time I try to install an extension:
"You must install a newer version of Adobe Extension Manager to install this item. Once the upgrade is complete, you can install your item from the 'My Stuff' tab"
I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times now. I have no updates to install, but keep getting this message. All products appear in the Extension Manager panel (Flash, Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop)
I have:
CS6 (fully updated)
Mac
Adobe Extention Manager CS6 v. 6.0.5.9
Adobe Exchange v. 0.9.4
I'm so frustrated and would really appreciate help with this.

Here is the solution that finally worked for me (for Mac). An extension of a previous suggestion.
After many MANY hours of frustration and trying to figure this out, I followed these steps in another post. For whatever reason, I tried this entire process 4 times and it finally took! So, if you are suffereing the same frustration, as I did, follow these steps. I would be sure that all previous extension/echange downloads are deleted first...and all their duplicates. If it still doesnt work, do it again:
In the Applications folder locate the Extension Manager CS6 folder and open.
Trash the Adobe Extension Manager CS6.
Download a fresh copy of the Adobe Extension Manager CS6 fromhttp://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_exchange/extension_manager/mac/A dobeExtensionManager6.0All.dmg
Install Extension Manager
Download the 6.0.2 update from http://download.macromedia.com/pub/dw_exchange/extension_manager/mac/A dobeExtensionManager-6.0.2-mul-AdobeUpdate.dmg
Install Update
Open Adobe Application Manager (via any Adobe program "Update..." in its "Help" pull-down.
Check for Updates and 6.0.4 should be available. Install.

If you remove the names then you may have a problem with organizing or searching for bookmarks.<br />
If you do not want to use the extension then you can achieve the same effect with code in userChrome.css<br />
