I want to see my chosen home page when I click on Firefox, but your ad shows up. How do I get rid of it?

When I go to Mozilla Firefox, I always see YOUR page first instead of my chosen home page. This page says "Committed to You, your privacy and an open web under your logo, and in top right corner, it says "See what's New" and it makes me either check "No Thanks" or "Let's go". This is annoying because I really just want my home page when I click on Firefox.
How do I get rid of YOUR page that comes up first? If I can't get rid of this, I plan to no longer use Mozilla Firefox. Please advise. (I would have given you a screen shot, but your system doesn't accept it here)

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.
Do you still have your home page set correctly?

You can check for problems with preferences.
Delete a possible user.js file and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename (or delete) the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in the current Firefox release.

AFter the latest download, my e-mail service keeps getting a bar at the top "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page". I have to keep hitting the "Allow" link? How do I get rid of this?

Ever since the last update, I'm having problem accessing my e-mail account. I keep getting an annoying bar at the top of the screen "Firebox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." I have to keep hitting the allow button, sometimes twice. And when I do get into the accounts the bar jumps in and out every time I open a new e-mail, or delete and old one.
How do I get rid of this. I've had this account for years, with a very reputable private e-mail provider. This is nuts.

Just instaled FF. WON'T appear as Home Page when I click IE icon!

Had Fairpoint as home page here [NH- they're state phone/ internet provider]. Downloaded IE8 last night on my old pc w/XP. DON'T like pushy MS home page items. Switched to blank startup page, then switched here. Got download done; want Firefox to come up as Home Page but keep getting 'connectivity issue' warning. HELP! Please bear in mind: Am pc NON- guru! The most straightforward seems to be: hold Ctrl and Left-Click on the Reload button. You could also Middle-click on the Reload button (e.g. "click" with the mouse wheel, if you have a wheel-mouse.) The thread above also has some other options.
Edit: you could also hold Ctrl and drag a tab next to itself to clone it, another suggestion from the above thread.

No home page when I click on the Firefox shortcut installed when I downloaded the latest firefox.

I got a new computer. With my old 512 mb ram HP, I had no trouble getting to my firefox homepage with bookmarks, etc. Now, when I click on the Firefox shortcut, all I get is some damn page telling me to download the new version of firefox. Which I already did!

Keeps opening several home pages when I click on 'home'

Everytime I click on the home page (I use Google) itcreates at least 3 homepage tabs. By the end of the day I can have 20 or more tabs.

I may not have been clear:
If I have a page open and click on the 'Home' symbol it takes me 'Home' but opens up another two 'Home' tabs as well, every time.
I don't know what I've done because it didn't do it until December 2010.

After going from firefox to another app. such as mail, I can't go to the dock and re-open my home page. The bar says firefox, but the previous app is on screen and douple-clicking the icon in the dock does nothing.

Problem seems to have started today after alothome.com hijacked my home page and I had to re-select original homepage as default.

I went to add-ons manager and removed ALOT and the problem went away. Post office recommended using ALOT to track a package but it screws up firefox.

Why do I get the AOL home page when I click to start Foxfire?

In case one of your extensions is involved, could you test the site in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to deactivate extensions, hardware acceleration, and some advanced features of Firefox. More info: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]].
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:
* "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
* Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
Not all add-ons are disabled: Flash and other plugins still run
After Firefox shuts down, a small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset).

Install Personas Plus Tab opens in addition to my home page when I start up Firefox

Hi I partially completed the process of installing Personas Plus app but decided against it because it was a trial rather than a free version. Now when I open Firefox I get my home page and an additional tab with this page http://barisderin.com/?p=915 open.
I can't figure out how to stop this from happening. I hope to hear from you. Kind regards

In the new version there's no little arrow with back or forward so you can go back several pages in one click. I use that a lot. How can I get it back?

I've just upgraded Firefox and no longer have little arrows by the back and forward buttons on the toolbar. This means I can only click back or forward one page at a time. I used to be able to click on the arrow, see a list of previous pages and then go back (or forward) several pages with one click. I looked at adding the History button to the tool bar but that's not as convenient.

You can get the drop down list by either right-clicking on the back/forward buttons, or holding down the left button until the list appears.

When I hit the back button twice, it goes back two pages and when I close one tab it closes two tabs. How can I get rid of this issue?
