Try getting a credit card from the same people who issued the debit card. If I read the home sharing paper properly after your set it up with the credit card you can change the payment method back to debit.

Ask Google... they locked you out of the email account.

Why can't I set up an account for my 7 year old to redeem his gift card? Is there a way I can put it on my account but NOT use it for my purchases?

My 7 year old received a gift card, but I cannot set up an iTunes account for him to use it. When I redeem it on my account, a credit is given to my account against all purchases, including my own. If I want to purchase a song now, it will use HIS gift card to do it. I can't see any way to sidestep it so that I can charge my credit card until the credit on my account is all used up. I would like him to have his own account with the gift card so that I do not end up using it. Any way to do this?

Unfortunately, the minimum age is 13 for an iTunes account.

Create a NEW account/ID for her using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before. You have to enter a birthdate that results in an age of at least 13 years.

You do not need an Apple ID. You can use any valid email address. If it is not your Apple ID you will have to verify the email address by replying to an email they send you.

As stated in the message your received (as you mentioned above), you need to use iOS 8 to setup/use Family Sharing. If you are using iOS 7, you cannot setup/use Family Sharing. To setup/use Family Sharing, you must update your devices to iOS 8.

The built-in guest user account will not do this. Simply create a new standard account and call it "Guest" or "Guest Users" or whatever you like.
Go to System Preferences > Users& Groups, click "+" to make a new account.
