iCal Server is part of Mac OSX Server. You need a computer running this operating system which is permamently connected to the internet with a static IP number (most ISPs do not provide this to domestic users).
http://www.apple.com/support/macosxleopardserver/icalserver/
You can ask about OSX Server in its forum:
https://discussions.apple.com/community/servers_enterprise_software/mac_os_x_lio n_server
You can publish an 'On My Mac' calendar to a web-page (read-only) - control-click the calendar and choose 'Publish', then choose 'Private server' and enter your webspace details as indicated.

  • How to stop ical from sending email notifications for updates on my share ical calendar

Is it possible stop ical from sending email notifications for updates I make on my share ical calendar?
    Mac OSX 10.7.2
Very annoying for the person I am sharing my calendar with to get an email every time I change something.
I hope there is a way to stop the emails, but for the updates to still go on their calendar.
    Thanks

Great idea Lofty! thanks. If the person you are sharing a calendar with is a Yahoo Mail user, you only need to set up one filter (under Options - Mail Options - Filters) and route to Spam folder or a special folder for that purpose.
Add a filter with the following parameters:
Sender contains:    "Your First and Last Name" as it appears in the emails they are receiving
    Subject contains:  "Your First Name"
    Email body contains: "iCloud"
Don't need to match case on anything.
So far, only these unwanted emails are being routed to the folder I chose.
Hope that helps until Apple gets it's act together

  • Want to share just calendar between two iphones--will icloud do this?

The title really says it all.  My husband and I both have iPhone 3GS and we want to share a calendar and hope to have it update without having to sync to the PC. Is this what iCloud will do if we choose to only turn on the calendar portion?  We share an iTunes account already and sync on the same PC.  Thanks so much.
    Kathryn

Yes, You should see each others calenders. When in the calender app the top bar will show how many calenders sre showing. It will be either a number or all or no calenders. Tap on the "calenders" button in the upper left of the screen. That will show a list of all the calenders available. You can also add a calender by tapping the "edit" button and then "add calender".

  • Multi ID's want to share contacts, calendar & notes, but need individual ID's for others

Family has multiple iOS and OSX devices all sharing a common Apple ID for iTunes, and we have individual ID's for Message and FaceTime.   We all want to share contacts, calendars, notes, reminders and the Find My device feature via Cloud, but found that when we use the shared iTunes ID we all show up as the same person in Air Drop (and possibly other apps too).  Is there a way to individualize the devices without loosing the ability to share the desired info?  I've searched with no luck.  Thank you!

If she created her own iCloud account by going to System Preferences>iCloud on her Mac and signing in with her Apple ID, you could privately share your calendars with each other with read and write access as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a9479.
Contacts would be more difficult to share.  To access your contacts, she would need to sign into your account and enable contact syncing.  However, when she does this, her conacts would be merged with yours.  A better solution would probably be to create a Gmail account, import your contacts to the account, and have her add the Gmail account to her Mac and enable contact syncing.  This would isolate just the contacts and would not merge hers with yours.  If you want to do this, you would need to download your iCloud contacts as a vCard (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3606), import the vCard to Gmail (https://support.google.com/mail/answer/183711?hl=en), then add the Gmail account to her Mac in System Preferences>Internet Accounts (Mail,Contacts,Calendars)>Add Account>Google, then check Contacts.

  • I simply want to share my calendars from home with my work iMac

I really have tried to fine the answer to this and feel a little silly for asking, but .... I just want to share some of my calendars from my home iMac with my new work iMac. I have MobileMe but when I try to join my calendars I get a message saying I cannot join calendars I'm sharing.
How do access calendars I'm 'sharing' from home on my Mac at work?
    Thanks.

Assuming he works for a company, the first person to talk to is whoever is in charge of the company's network. Most company networks are firewalled, and usually won't permit access except by authorized users with company-approved VPN software.

  • Trying to share ical calendar

i see a lot of posts not quite asking what i need. a colleague in another city and i need to share a calendar. is there a way to do this?? thanks.

Hi there...As far as i know, you can only sync from one computer. Example:- if you sync your ical to other machines eg. wifes laptop, kids etc, from then on it must be you syncing on your machine with the family with one account. The minute someone else does it from another machine, the previous entries will be erased.
In short, use one computer to sync.
    Good Luck!!!

  • Share ical calendar with outlook PC

hi - i'm wondering if i can share an iCal or iCloud calendar with someone who is on a PC and uses Outlook? thanks!

    Hello brianfrommissoula,
Indeed, anyone using Outlook on Windows should be able to take advantage of the functionality provided by shared calendars.
Public calendars can be shared with anyone. To access public calendars, visitors need to use Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or any other app that supports the iCalendar file format.
Private calendars can be shared with other iCloud users. Participants can view the calendar using iCloud Calendar, Calendar (or iCal with OS X v10.7.5) on a Mac, Microsoft Outlook on a Windows computer, or the Calendar app on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

  • Can we share iCal calendars between two accounts?

I've set our new Mac up with two admin. accounts and logins. One for my wife and one for me. (Not to mention four others for our sons!)
After getting iCal squared away in my account, I logged off and back into my wife's account in to be sure the events and calendars I'd created were available to her. No luck! Just the same old Work and Home defaults...boo.
    Please advise!

    Mwether,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
BusySync offers that capability for a fee.
It has a 30 day trial mode.

  • Good calendar app wanted to share one calendar across an iPad, iMac and a Blackberry

    Ideas?

You can login into iCloud. It needs iOS 5 in the iPod touch, iPad and iPhone. Then, open Settings > iCloud and turn on Notes. You can also use another service (Exchange, Hotmail, Gmail) that supports Notes

  • We have 3 iPads 3 iPhones 3 Apple id's.  We want to use 1 calendar we can all access on each device and have each device update or sync and we all receive notifications from the one calendar. We do not want to share photos contacts, ect.  Please help

We have 3 Apple Id's, each ID using an iPad and an iPhone (3 id's, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones). We want to use one calendar on all 6 devices and have that one calendar update or sync to all devices.  We would like all 6 devices to provide notifcations from the one unique calendar as well.  We do not want to share contacts, photos, ect.  Please suggest how to achieve this, with the name of the calendar, if I am to get one from the App store, and how to set this up.  Please talk in easy terms as I am technically Challenged. Thank you.  3 iPad air 2, 2 iPhone 6 plus, 1 iPhone 4s.

    Hello there MizzouTrojan,
If I understand correctly you want all 6 devices to have access to a single calendar that each device gets notifications for and can edit. You can do that with an private iCloud shared calendar. First sign into www.icloud.com and use these steps from the following article to share a calendar:
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
    Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note:    You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

  • My employer wants me to share his calendar but I do not want to share anything but his calendar.  Is that possible?

My employer wants me to share his iCloud calendar, but that's all I want to share.  I don't want him to have my contacts, bookmarks, etc.  I only want to share his calendar on my PC.  Is this possible?  Also, can I sign up for iCloud on my iPod Touch using my secondary id, but then sign out right away so that this secondary account just for the boss's calendar doesn't mix w/ anything on my iPod?

That helps a lot (thanks!), but if you could please clarify one part of the instruction steps, I'd greatly appreciate it.  If my boss sends me the invitation using my work email (w/ Outlook), do I still accept the invitation via iCloud.com?  Will I be able to prevent him from seeing my bookmarks, contacts, etc.stored on this computer?  Finally, do I have to do something to my Outlook program or via my PC's control panel to complete the process?

  • 2 users, same computer..how do we share ical?

So there's 2 users on our computer and we want to share ical and both be able to add, change, delete...How can we do this???

It's not built into iCal, no.
I think I'm right in saying that the reason you usually can't share data, or calendars, across user accounts has to do with the way Unix machines - including Macs - store a user's data and make it private for that user. There are shared points from which you can share but this does not include your calendars alas.

  • ICAL calendar sync

    Hello everybody,
i just set up Teaming 2.1 and it works fine. Now some of our staff only want to share Teaming calendars using iCAL links within Lightning or Sunbird. This works fine for readonly configured calendars. With r/w enabled calendars all access results in MODIFICATION_FAILED errors.
Has anybody succesfully set up this combination ?
    Thnx

This is from the Teaming 2.1 documentation, Section 2.16 (Novell Doc: Kablink Teaming 2.1 User Guide - Synchronizing Teaming Task and Calendar Folders to a Desktop Calendar Application
You use this link to export Teaming calendar data for inclusion in another calendar that supports the iCal format (for example, Google* and Outlook*).
I put a packet sniffer on the wire when I tried to create a new event with Sunbird, and in the background Teaming is responding to the PUT with a "405 Method Not Allowed: The specified HTTP method is not allowed for the requested resource (Request method 'PUT' not supported)."
