I want to slow down data going into my Apple TV...
Basically when one of the family uses Netflix or another source on the Apple TV, it is taking too much of the bandwidth available to the household. Living in a rural part of the UK we can get around 4Mb/s, and eeking it out amonst a big family is a real issue. Fibre is still a dream despite all the rhetoric spoken by BT and others.
Anyhow, I wondered whether our router could allow me to configure the Apple TV's IP address to have a maximum value. (Some routers do). Unfortunately oursis the basic ISP supplied jobee, and it will not allow this.
So, here's the reason for writing, and I wondered whether I could but a cap around 800Mb/s on data on the Apple TV unit. It currently is also using Wifi if that helps.
Any suggestions or configurations gratefuilly accepted.

Without knowing what make and model of router you have its impossible to know whether ti would allow it or not.
Your other option is too buy a router that will allow it, and daisy chain it to the ISPs modem. Then control the entire network through the new router.

This may not help your problem but if you've signed-up from the very beginning on the boards and listed your e-mail address it's already configured to automatically send you e-mails on all the threads you participate in unless you go to the right of the page and click (stop e-mail communications) or click on your profile the click manage e-mail notifications and delete the threads under e-mail notifications.
All the threads you reply to go automatically to your e-mail, so no worries there.

How can I "slow down" portions of a layer?

I am modifying a composition template. It has only a few layers but four folders with numerous layers in each. I want to "slow down" the frames at certain points in the layer then resume normal speed. I am guessing that I can do this on the layer of the "top level timeline" without going into individual placeholders, etc., by manipulating frame rates somehow just for certain portions of the layer. This obviously results in a longer composition and that's another factor to consider.
What is the best and easiest way to do this? I am hoping that there is another way besides frame freezing or holding. I am using AE CS4.

Thank you. Andrew Kramer's Video Copilot video, which I somehow managed to miss, was very helpful.
I had a 79 second clip which I precomposed and enabled time remapping. But I have 12 places where I need to slow down the layer. After a while, I was runing out of room to add more keyframes using the method promoted in many videos and instruction sites (grab the last two keyframes, including the end frame, and drag).
In reality, you can add keyframes wherever you like and you can adjust them however works best within the existing timeline without messing with the duration, etc.

There you will see:

Change that to what ever you want.

How can I slow down the "Far far away" title?

I want to slow down the title so I can read the information without extending the picture length. Is this possible?

1. Press the Crop button (seen on the top right bar where "reset all" is located)
2. Change the "crop to fill" or "Ken Burns" to "FIT"
3. Press the button that looks like a speed gauge on the top bar... press it and on there should be a label named "Speed"
      and next to it is a drop down menu... Use that to change the speed
     - Here you will see "Normal", "Slow", "Fast" and "Custom".
     - Choose either option
     - I recommend choosing "Custom" so that you are able to control the speed by a percentage interval

Making video start fast and slow down?

I am trying to avoid doing this in FCP because I know speed changed video can be jumpy...
Basically I have video that pans and I want to start fast, lets say 600% speed and slow down just at the end to 100%.
I know that in motion it doesn't work with percentages, so how's the best way to go about this. I tried variable speed, but It starts slow then speeds up...
Also, I would like to add a motion blur, is this achieved with activating motion blur in the render tab?

Well, I had a bunch of videos that I overlaid with mattes to make it look like one continuous video... But the resulting video was 30 seconds and I needed it to be 5 seconds..
So I exported a QT movie and re-imported it into Motion. Then I just went to the Timing property and changed the speed to variable. This gave me a key frame at the beginning and end of the clip. So I just dragged the keyframe at the end to 150th frame (for 5 seconds).
But since I wanted to slow down the video just a tad at various points, I added a key frame to each area I wanted to slow. I then went into the Keyframe editor and made the interpolation to bezier, then just rotated the bezier to be horizontal. This slowed the video just a tad in each part.
I also changed the frame blending to motion blur blending.
Pretty straight forward once I got the hang of it.

Music downloads are slowing down my computer

Is it possible that too many music downloads can be slowing down my apple computer? If so, is it possible to transfer music to my iPod and delete it from the computer's harddrive w/o the music deleting from the iPod during the next sync?
Please help!!!!!!!!

i believe when you connect your ipod you can go the settings and you could try setting it to manually manage your songs. and i think thats when you add your own files to the library of itunes and you can delete off of itunes as soon as your done putting it on your ipod.

I'm a new member and I'm actually trying to work with garage band to record voice and playback. Can "logic express" Vs. 8.0 slow down or change the key from playbacks like the program "Amazing slowdowner"? This is a programm wich costs 50 US Dollar and I want to decide if i buy it or not.
What is the hgreatest different between "garage band" and logic express 8.0? Who can hepl me, which is the right thing for me. I find it difficult to find out which effects are the best only to record my voice with playback.

If you want to slow down the audio why not download a program from ABRSM called Speedshifter- its free and is very good. you could export the audio from Logic and open the MP3 file with speed shifter. I think speedshifter may also have the ability to alter the pitch as well. I use it for Flute practice- its very useful !

Slowing down a sound

How would I slow down a sound? Basically I want to slow down timing *and* pitch, not just one or the other. The effect I'm going for is a sound in slow motion.

You might need to use another prog to do this such as Audition because it allows 3rd party plugins to run. However, if you want a free option, I recommend using Audacity because it allows you to run plug-ins as long as you install the extra vst wrapper. I personally use Wavelab because it doesn't require any plugins to achieve this. It includes its own pitch shift / time stretch function.

Gradually slow down a clip?

I want to slow down a clip from 100% to 0% speed, like using pitch blender in sound.
Actually to match a slowed sound. Is there a way please? So far I only know how to
razor the clip and slow it down in tiny segments, but that seems kinda rough.

Click on the clip and then go up to the Effect Controls panel and keyframe the Time Remapping effect from 100% to 0%.
Although as you approach 0% the clip can get pretty long so you will want to drop to zero in a big jump part way along.

How do you make a clip slow down

I'm new to final cut so I hope this question(s) isn't too naive. First of all I have imported a clip that has a world turning right before a transition into something else I don't want (ie I only want the world spinning). But whenever I select the range I want, and remove the rest, if drag the desired clip longer the old (unwanted material shows). So clearly I'm not cutting or deleting properly. Assuming I have the clip I want, the other problem is that I'm trying to match it to audio which is considerably longer (like 6 minutes versus 40 seconds). There is no obvious place to cut and make a copy (loop) without it being noticeable, so I thought it might be better to simply make the clip run in slow motion and match the duration to the audio clip. How do you do this?

Simple. Select the clip (or portion of the clip) you want to slow down. Go to the "Modify" menu, then go to "speed." Type in a new percentage (50%, for instance, will make the clip run at half speed). I also suggest checking the "frame blending" box....it should make the slowed-down clip look smoother (you can try it both ways and see what looks best to you). Then render the clip (from the "Sequence" menu) and you're done.

FCPX 120fps slow down

Hi all
I have some Gopro 120fps footage which I want to slow down
I imported the clip to fcpx dropped it into to the timeline (30p rate) and then thought that i could retime it 50% or 25% and then get smooth slow motion slowed down to 1/2 or 1/4.. but its not working ?
What am I doing wrong here ?

First, select the clip in the timeline and from the retiming menu select automatic speed (I'm assuming a current version of the app). See how that looks and then apply a speed change. Activate the retiming bar in the timeline (Cmd-R) and drag the tab at the end to adjust the speed.

Slow down audio for language learning

My students want to decrease the speed of audio mp3 files for language learning purposes. How can this be done in iTunes on the following devices?

(b) on Windows
(c) on an iPhone
(d) on an iPod
(e) on any other mp3 player you can name

They want to slow down audio files on their handheld devices. I see you can speed up a podcast 1x - 2x, but I don't see that you can slow it down.

Apple engineers do not participate here. Have you updated to iOS 8.1 which was just release yesterday? Have you done any other troubleshooting? If you haven't start here.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data
Now close all apps. In order to close apps, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Next, reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If those three things made no difference, try this. Reset all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings.
If all of that fails, restore the iOS software. Backup your iPad before you restore, then restore the backup when you are done. If that still doesn't help, restore your iPad as new and start all over again. Most purchased content can be downloaded again at no charge as long as you use the same Apple ID and as long as the content is still available in the store.
