I want to STOP the automatic loading of the tab that tells me "Almost There!" or "Your Almost There" suggesting that I download the new version. I DO NOT WANT A NEWER VERSION- and I am SICK of seeing this tab open when I start Firefox. How do I stop this?

I find this reminder/suggestion to upgrade Firefox EXTREMELY annoying. How do I stop it? What about:config settings do I change-- because I have been unable to find the one that will do the trick.

• How to stop tabs re-opening after firefox crashes.........when it crashes and I have multiple tabs open, when re-starting firefox all of the tabs re-open too. How can I stop this?

Firefox crashes quite often, especially when I have multi tabs open. I usually have to use CTRL ALT DEL and end the process as Firefox stops responding.
My problem is not the crashing........it is the re-opening of the multiple tabs I had open, when normally it is one of them (not the home page) that caused the crash in the first place, so I cannot re-open firefox until I restart the pc, because every time I do it is the same story. Firefox tries to re-open all of the tabs and stops responding. I have looked in options but nowhere does it allow me to stop multiple tabs opening after a crash. If this continues, I will have to uninstall Firefox and stick to Chrome.

Set the pref browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes to 0 on the about:config page to get the about:sessionrestore page immediately with the first restart after a crash has occurred or the Task Manager was used to close Firefox.
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.sessionstore.max_resumed_crashes
That will allow you to deselect the tab(s) that you do not want to reopen, but will allow to reopen other tabs.

To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />
*Use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a preference more easily.
*Preferences that have been modified show as bold (user set).
*Preferences can be reset to the default or changed via the right-click context menu.

• Some of the newer shows and movies on my IPAD 2 show "cannot open content not authorized"

All of my library plays on my MAC and Apple TV, but some of the newer shows and movies on my IPAD 2 show "cannot open content not authorized" . If I download them directly to my IPAD they will play. iPad and MAC are all up to date. I have restarted the IPAD 2 and MAC multiple times.

Do you have the FastStart extension?
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

• How do I keep my tabs open when I close firefox? I have tried the method in this site (tools- options- general- when firefox starts... but it didn't work.

I used to be able to close firefox and have all my opened tabs saved. When I open firefox again, those tabs will be opened as I last closed firefox.
Now, I am not able to do it. The firefox was crashed at one time earlier and I have to open the task manager to force it to close because it is frozen and so was my computer. After I opened it again, there is no tabs saved which I kinda expected. Then I
go on web surfing and browse various websites. Now, when I close firefox, a box pops up warning me about the opened
tabs will be closed. So I googled the symptom and it brought me to this website, telling me that if I set
"tools->open->general->When firefox starts" to "Show my windows and tabs from last time", it should behave as it was before.
I tried that but it doesn't work.
Any help is appreciated.

In case you use "Clear history when Firefox closes" or otherwise clear history:
*do not clear the Browsing History
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history": [X] "Clear history when Firefox closes" > Settings
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/remove-recent-browsing-search-and-download-history
Clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, passwords, and other website specific data.

• Add-on updates produce webpages that keep appearing when I start Firefox--how do I keep this from happening?

When the add-ons are updated, a webpage appears stating that the update was successful. In the past I would exit the tab and this notice would not appear again. However, these pages appear to be persisting when I close Firefox down and then reopen immediately and later. I have tried deleting all history and cookies, and resetting the home page multiple times, but none of these have done the trick. The version of Firefox I'm using is the latest version (7.0.1). I use Win 7 (64-bit).
History: this all started when my AddonFox add-on updated in September and notice web page saying it updated appeared. This has kept reappearing each time I enter Firefox. In addition since then, an update for the ReadItLater (v. 2.1.3), ColorfulTabs, and IE Tabs add-on updates have caused the same issue. As a result, whenever I enter Firefox, my homepage opens, as well as the notification pages that these four add-ons have updated.

This can also be a problem with the file sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder
Delete sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Profile Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.

• I finally got my desired homepage to open when I start firefox, but I still cannot click on my home icon with firefox open and have it go to my set homepage.

I changed the target in properties to fix the initial start problem, but even with my homepage set in the control panel, it will not go there when clicking the home icon.

Hello,
Note that your version of Firefox is outdated, you can update by going to:
* Help > About Firefox
* Please see this link for all of the security updates since version 27: https://www.mozilla.org/security/known-vulnerabilities/firefox/
Is there a reason you are adding the link to the target line of Firefox? You can change your home page settings at:
* Tools (or ) > Options > General
If that works for you, you do not need to modify the target line for your Firefox shortcut.
If you are finding changing your home page there doesn't work, you may want to see the article How to fix preferences that won't save, and/or scan for malware:

== This happened ==
Every time Firefox opened
== I accedentaly pressed the option (warn when closing more tabs thing)

Nesse,
You'll want to change the "When Firefox starts" setting under Tools -> Options -> Main (General in 3.6+) to Show my home page

• Why does the Avast online security tab now suddenly always open when I start Firefox, it never use to happen?

As above sentence. Suddenly, every time I start Firefox it opens with the Firefox tab and the Avast online security tab. This didn't use to happen. I've tried disabling it via Firefox (as it was loaded on the computer long before I had Firefox) which solves that problem but then the large green tick icon doesn't show next to the search list to show the site is safe. It's very annoying that it has started doing this and certainly don't want it!

Sorry you might as well as written it in double dutch. I didn't understand it at all. Previously I have said I don't understand computer speak.
