I want to sync my Ipod with my new computer.

My last computer was stolen in the fall, and I've managed to get a new computer.
I know that connecting my ipod will erase all of my music already on their, but I also have new music on my computer that I want to sync onto my ipod without losing anything.
I've transferred purchases, but not all of the music on my ipod was transferred (only1/10 was transferred.)
I do not know how to put the 4 new albums I've bought into my ipod, and I'm terrified of losing the music already in there.
Help?

Hey there, this may have been answered since May 2012 but I will give you my solution that always works for me.....  I have 2 ipods synced with one computer.  I just received another one from my sister with cool music on it.  I wanted to add that music to my itunes library, but of course if I sync it with my computer all the music will be lost unlesssssss.........................
-- Plug in new ipod to your computer (make sure your iTunes is set to "not" automatically sync when ipod is plugged in)
-- minimize itunes window if it opens
-- on your desk top, make a new folder and call it whatever you want.... let's say, "new ipod"
-- go to start.... my computer... double click on the ipod icon
--See ipod control folder??  If it is faint, right click on it... go down to properties... in attributes, UNcheck the hidden box... apply.. ok
--go back and double click ipod control folder...
--double click on Music folder...
--select all the folders... copy them... open that "new ipod" folder on the desktop and paste them in there... perfect
--open itunes... click file... add folder to library... click desktop... find "new ipod" folder... select folder and voila!!!!
--all the songs from the ipod will now be added to your iTunes library, You can make a new playlist of those new songs.
--now when you sync the ipod with this computer, it will replace all the songs on it, but who cares, you have those songs in your library!!  This does work perfectly without buying any program to do it for you!!
Sorry for being long winded, but it works... try it.. I have done this several times!

  • TS1474 I changed my computer, now i want to sync mi iPod with the new one, it says that it cannot be used unlees I have the password but I dont, what should I do?

I have my iPod since about a year, now I changed my computer, I already have all my documents in the new one, but when I try to sync my iPod with new computer its says that I need a password to use my iPod in Tunes, but it doesnt show a box to fill in or anything, I dont have the password, What should I do? I also dont want my apps to be erased.

-Transfer iTunes purchases to the compuer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like one of those discusssed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the Ipd to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not contain synced media like apps and music.

  • Help! How can i sync my ipod with a new computer?

how do i sync my ipod touch with a new computer?  the old computer it was synced with is completely broken.  I don't want to loose any songs, especially the ones I didn't buy on itunes.

For music obtained from other than the iTunes Music Store, you need to browse the app store and purchase an app intended for that very purpose.  I'm unable to recommend one because I've never had reason to use such an app.  DO THIS FIRST!
For songs purchased from iTunes, simply do a sync to the new computer.  A box will appear asking if you wish to transfer purchases.  If, for whatever reason, that fails, this is "Plan B."

  • HT1420 Can't sync my ipod with my new computer without it prompting me to erase files on my ipod

Everytime I try to connect my ipod to my new computer with the usb cable, it says this ipod is already synced to another computer and asks if I want to erase files already on my ipod or play songs authorized for this computer.  I have a lot of music on my ipod that isn't in my itunes library, and I don't want to lose those songs.  I there anyway to unsync my old computer without having to turn it back on?  It crashed on me a while back and can't be used anymore..

Yes, it will. You need to move your iTunes folder from your old computer to the new computer. You will find it in the /Home/Music/ folder. Copy the entire iTunes folder to an external drive then restore it on the new computer to the same location (overwrite any existing iTunes folder there.) iTunes will now find your old library in the expected location.
If you migrate your old Home folder to the new computer then this will assure that everything continues working as it was on the old computer.

If you still have access to the Old computer...
And to have  EVERYTHING  as it is Now...
    From your OLD computer...
Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..

    Hi there,
You can re-download purchased content from the iTunes store directly to your iTunes library or your iOS devices. Take a look at the article below for more information.

This was posted in the "Using iPad" discussion site but it applies to an iPod Touch as well.
The following was copied from this thread. This is essentially what you want to accomplish.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/11527071#11527071
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your laptop, start iTunes. Click on Edit. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your laptop and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your new laptop, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on Edit / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
Read this thread and the support links as well. There are apps that you can purchase that will allow you to transfer photos from the iPad to your PC. Look at Photo Transfer App in the App store and you can search for others as well.
