  • I have an iphone that I just deactivated (SIM card removed) - I still want to sync with iTunes but keep getting error message that there is no SIM card installed?

I have an iphone 3GS that I have inactivated as of today. I still wish to sync this phone with iTunes (did a restore as I transferred my data to a new iPhone).  However, iTunes is giving me an error message that there is no SIM card installed in the iPhone I'm attempting to activate.  I've powered off the phone, held the power button & home button until iTunes popped up with restore note.  Re-did the restore (twice) but still coming up with same error message.

Kind of what I figured.....will I be able to sync to iTunes in future as many times as I want without the SIM card (once it's activated again)?

  • I'm trying to update my iPhone 4 through iTunes but says I'm not connected to the internet when I am.

    Hello everyone,
I have the iPhone version 4.3.3 and I want to update to the latest iPhone software. With this version, I can only update through iTunes. When I plug in my phone to my computer and select the update option through iTunes, it sends an error messsage reading that I need to be connected to the internet to update my phone. My phone and my computer are both connected to wifi at the times I try to update, so I don't understand why I keep getting that message.
I've talked to my phone company and they said it probably has to deal with iTunes, but they were not sure. I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes, but it still didn't work. Does anyone have a clue as to what is going on and also what I can do to update my phone?
    Thank you so much!

  • ITunes store says that my network connection timed out

When I try to connect to the itunes store, I get the message "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. Make sure your network connection is active and try again" - this has been the case, without exception, for the last two weeks. I am a student in italy for the semester so our network connection is not great but no one else in my program is having a problem connecting to iTunes or the Store. (I didn't have a problem when I was in the US either). I can't seem to find helpful info on this site directed at mac users and I know its not a firewall problem. Its only the store that has the problem - I can see and listen to the music of other users on my network.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I miss my music!

    Welcome to AD, mmiller767!
Can you go into itunes > Help > Run Diagnostics and post the network connectivity results?
The #1 culprit is the Norton firewall. Many folks do not realize that Norton has its own firewall in addition to the built-in Windows firewall. Norton/Symantec software is preinstalled on just about every PC from Dell, Toshiba, HP, etc.
Even if you have never run Norton security, it could beblocking itunes....there are posts from other users about this.
That Norton software is so bad, Symantec has had to put a removal tool on their website because the normal Add/Remove programs in Windows cannot get rid of it.

  • My iphone 4s wont sync with itunes it says the sync session failed to start

My iphone 4s will not sync with itunes it says that the sync session failed to start????................

This happens to me from time to time using the Wifi sync (on both the iPad and iPhone). If wifi has worked before but stopped working, try "Forgetting Network" on the device and rejoining the network.

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time.  If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else,  authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account.  In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc.  For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases.  For all other nonpurchased iTunes content, see this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.
Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
Once the backup has been made and all other synced content such as music, videos, and photos are back in your iTunes library, restore your iPod from that backup you made earlier.  Here is more on backing up and restoring your iPod.

If you do happen to lose any purchased content, you can always redownload it from the iTunes Store again at no cost via iCloud.  See this article for information.

You can create an alternate library: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1589
But it is easier to create one or more playlists and sync by selected playlists.  You can have some playlists for both phones and others for just one phone.

Sorry, but audiobooks cannot be downloaded more than once without charge, so if you don't have a viable backup, you may be out of luck. You can, however, contact the iTunes Store, explain the situation, and see if they can make an exception for you.

Copy all the content on your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes. Then go ahead and sync the iPod with your new library.
