  • Adjusting color in part of an image in a photo.

Hi, just bought Photoshop CC and am stuck.  I just received a photo of my uncle that was taken through the glass of the frame it was in.  The right side of his face is lighter than the rest of his face.  How do I adjust this color? You can also see some lightening of the lower right portion of his hat. Other issues have been corrected.  Portion of photo attached.  Thanks.

Thank you so much.  I will give it a shot. Your help is greatly appreciated.  Will let you know how it works.

I cranked the filter to better see it, but you can reduce it to taste.7) There are other things you could try like painting with your brush in "Color" mode to fine-tune skin tones, or use the dodge and burn tools, etc.  https://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-7149917-723260/Multiply.png  If the reply above answers your question, please take a moment to mark this answer as correct by visiting: https://forums.adobe.com/message/7149917#7149917 and clicking ‘Correct’ below the answer Replies to this message go to everyone subscribed to this thread, not directly to the person who posted the message. • How do you cut out the part of an image in a photo?

How do you cut out a part of an image on a photo that you have added to Pages. For example, if I have added a picture of a giraffe to Pages how would I cut out the giraffe from the image and get rid of the rest of the image

You can use the instant alpha tool to make the background transparent.
FYI: Pages is part of iWork, not iLife.

  • How can I select only a small part of the image to clone or edit etc?

I want to select part of the image to clone is, and just edit the selected part. I know i can do this on photoshop but how do i do it on Aperture?

You use the "Retouche" brush in Aperture and set it to "clone".
Option-Click on the location you want to clone from to select a source, and then brush over the location where you want to clone to. The cloned region will follow the shape of the brushed area. You do not lasso the shape to to copy and paste it like in Photoshop.
For example: Duplicating a penguin: The sourcepoint has been set to the beak of the second penguin, and then I brushed along the path where I want to penguin clone to appear.
If I brush the whole area eventually the penguin will be copied completely. You'll have to experiment a bit with the brush size and softnees to ensure that the cloned object will blend in.

  • Converting part of an image to Grayscale (black & white)

    Q. I want to make part of an image grayscale but keep some color elements.
Answer: There is always more than one way to do something in Photoshop.
#1 Select the area you want to be grayscale. Create a new Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer (half-moon icon in the Layers palette). Dial down the Saturation.
#2 Make a copy of your image and make it Grayscale.
After creating a layer in the color image with just the part of your image you want to still be color paste the Grayscale image under this layer.
Your image will still be a color image with elements that look grayscale.
    #3 In CS3 (version 10 ) use Image > Adjustments > Black & White

It's all virtual right now. Various issues keep the points from being displayed, but it does contribute to the "level" setup which at some point will function (I'm guessing) much like the "old system" where you get certain bonuses (personal avatars, etc) depending on the "level" you are in the system.
I'm already a level 4, so points only contribute to my "reputation", I guess. But TPTB have suggested that we inform users of the Forum on the proper way to use it to build a better community.
    Thanks for the "Solved"

  • Parts of image flickers on photos

Parts of an image flickers on photos after burning dvd. I made a Movie using imovie 08 with 2mp photos. Used ken burns effect. Some vertical and horizontal lines may flicker, e.g. roof tops, railings, etc. Not all photos have this result. Do not notice it when viewing full screen on imovie where I made the movie. Is this the old dot crawl problem or a refresh rate issue? I used pinnacle ultimate on an old pc and did not have this issue on the final dvd product.

That flicker is common with the Ken Burns effect. Importing your photos in with the Ken Burns effect turned on seems to help a bit, but won't totally get rid of it. Usually you notice it more on the iMovie preview playback than on the final product, which, however, does not seem to be your case. I can't recall offhand the tech explanation, but someone on this formum can tell you that.
On the Apple website you can buy Photo to Movie, which is an app that purportedly has a smooth Ken Burns type zooming effect together with a lot of other good slide show effects. Photomaggico is another good plug-in app. Both work well with iMovie.

  • Is it possible to clone one part of an image into another in iphoto?

Since it is not possible in Aperture to clone one part of an image into another photo is it possible in iphoto?

No.  You will need to use an image editor that can handle layers.
Some Image Editors that support  layers:
    Photoshop Elements 9 for Mac - $79
    GraphicConverter - $45
    Rainbow Painter - $30
    Imagerie - $38
    Acorn - $50 Pixelmator - $60
    Seashore - Free
    Portraits and Prints - Free
    GIMP for Mac - Free
Of those I believe you get the most bang for the buck with PSE 9.  The following are some of the advanced editing you can do with it:

Additional possible candidates for editors can be found by searching for "edit" at MacUpdate.com.

I mostly work on Mac desktop, but use a Macbook Pro on trips. Due to limited HD space on the latter, I want to create a library of part of the images on the Mac, to be used on the Macbook. I do not however want to remove these images from the Mac library.

Choose one or more Projects, and then use Export as New Library (from File).  The resulting export will be a fully functioning Aperture Library to either transfer and open on the Macbook Pro, or to Import into a library you already have on the MBP.

  • I want to take an image that's from my files, no cropped and be able to set up action(s) where I can drop that image behind an 8x10 frame overlay, then the same with a 5x7 frame overlay, then the same image behind a memory mate overlay that's an 8x10 size

So is there a way to do this using the images right from the camera, where I don't have to crop three different sized images and drag them into the overlays?  I can set up an action for each, but cropping the same image 3x is a pain in the ***..!

There are.  I did not write you need to learn scripting and write your own scripts.  As I wrote most Photoshop will never write a script.  However I would write every Photoshop user will at times use a Photoshop script to do some automated process for them.
I wrote the it would be very hard to do what you want to do would a straight Photoshop action.  Actions on their own can not use logic.  An action would need to to it by brute force.
However in Photoshop CC Adobe added conditional action support.  With this support it is now possible to create a group of actions to process some conditions.  Like you can separate Landscape from portraits have an Action for processing  landscape images and an other for processing portrait images.
Size is still hard to deal with for you can have landscape's the are extremely wide to landscapes that are square and portraits the are extremely narrow to those that are almost square.
Image the extreme aspect ratio will not fill a 8:10 or 5:7  area it resized to 10 and 7 and creating crops the have 8"10 and 5:7 will have images compositions where most of your image content has been discarded.
Camera images do not have extreme aspect ratio the usually have  3:2 or 4:3 aspect ratios there are exceptions.  When you have print made the are 5x7 and 8x10 by printers  the prints you receive from the printers are center crops from your image files.
It is very easy to make center crops if aree images have the same aspect ratio and orientation to begin with.  Now with CC you can have seperate actions to the two orientations.
A general solution would need handle arbitrary aspect ratios the resulting center crop may well not have a satisfactory image composition for source image with extreme aspect ratios.
Photoshop ship with several scripts users use all the time to process their image.  You may have used some yourself. Do any of these sound familiar to you. Conditional Mode Change, ContactSheetII, Delete All Empty Layers, Export Layers To Files, ExportColorLookupTables,  Fit Image, Flatten All Layer Effects, Flatten All Masks, generate, Image Processor, Layer Comps To Files, Layer Comps To PDF, Lens Correct, Load DICOM, Load Files into Stack, Merge To HDR, Photomerge, Script Events Manager and Statistics.
My action package as I wrote contains more the a dozen script I wrote to be used in actions to add logic into the actions.
It would also be extremely easy to create a Photo Collage Template PSD that contains a background layer that has your two frames the 8x10 and 5x7 and also have two alpha channels to map the locations of the images.  That can be batch populated with my script  BatchPicturePackage.
    Photo Collage Toolkit
Photoshop scripting is powerful and I believe this package demonstrates this A video showing a 5 image collage PSD template  being populates with images:
The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
Size the photo collage templates for the print size you want - width, height and print DPI resolution.
Photo collage templates must have a Photoshop background layer. The contents of this layer can be anything.
Photo collage templates must have alpha channels named "Image 1", "Image 2", ... "Image n".
Photo collage templates layers above the background layers must provide transparent areas to let the images that will be placed below them show through.
There are twelve scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
TestCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to test a Photo Collage Template while you are making it with Photoshop.
CollageTemplateBuilder.jsx - Can build Templates compatible with this toolkit's scripts.
LayerToAlphaChan.jsx - Used to convert a Prototype Image Layer stack into a template document.
InteractivePopulateCollage.jsx - Used to interactively populate Any Photo Collage template. Offers most user control inserting pictures and text.
ReplaceCollageImage.jsx - use to replace a populated collage image Smart Object layer with an other image correctly resized and positioned.
ChangeTextSize.jsx - This script can be used to change Image stamps text size when the size used by the populating did not work well.
PopulateCollageTemplate.jsx - Used to Automatically populate a Photo Collage template and leave the populated copy open in Photoshop.
BatchOneImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Collage templates that only have one image inserted. The Collage or Image may be stamped with text.
BatchMultiImageCollage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with images in a source image folder. Easier to use than the interactive script. Saved collages can be tweaked.
BatchPicturePackage.jsx - Used to Automatically Batch Populate Any Photo Collage template with an image in a source image folder
PasteImageRoll.jsx - Paste Images into a document to be print on roll paper.
PCTpreferences.jsx - Edit This File to Customize Collage Populating scripts default setting and add your own Layer styles.

  • HELP! flash stops working when I want to import a sequence of images to stage

Please! I need help asap! I downloaded Flash CS5 and I am using it as a trial and every time I want to import a sequence of images to stage the program stops working and closes without saving. I need to do this projecto for the day after tomorrow and Flash is just not working right. This project is a stop motion animation.
I will deeply appreciate any help, since I just don't know what else to do!
    Laura.

I cannot individually cause it's a stop motion animation...like 200 pictures (this part, the whole of it is like 1000), it would take me a lot of time.  I tried doing it in parts, but when  I get to frame number 100 more or less the program just shuts down...I really really don't know what else to try.

  • Finding center in black part of greyscale image

    Hi all,
Basically what I want to do is find the center of a black part of a gray scale image. I'm having a bit of a problem using built-in LV functions, because the part of the image is somewhat spherical but not completely.
What I'm doing is imaging drops (I attached an example one to the post), and the drops show up as mostly black (except for the center) due to a bright blacklight. I am currently calculating the size of the drop by converting the image to an array of 1/0s where the 1s represent the region of the drop (and sometimes the edge of the image, depending on the exposure), I then scan each column of the array to calculate the diameter of the drop at that column by subtracting the first and last 1 that I find, then summing over the entirety of the drop and converting that into voxels then microliters. Phew.
So now, what I'm trying to do, is find the center of the drop in x and y. I was thinking I'd be able to use some sort of average of the first/last numbers of each column (and then of each row) but everything I tried didn't seem to make sense and I can't figure out if my method is bad, or my implementation in LV was bad. Any ideas on what I could do here? I attached the code I'm using currently to take the pictures and calculate the drop size, although it may be easier to just start from scratch using the attached image.
I appreciate any advice! Hopefully I explained that well enough, but I know it's a bit confusing.

    Hi (again) Burrito,
I started out trying to use the Vision functions, but since my image isn't necessarily a circle nor does it have any straight edges I was having a hard time trying to figure out the best way to use the functions. Someone else I discussed the code with though also recommended making more use of the vision functions if possible - I'll look more into the particle analysis VI. Thanks for the advice!
