I want to test my microphone using labview vi

Hello SIr,
I want to check my microphone using labview program, using labview vi i want to get dynamic vibrations of sound when we will give input to our head phone(In this we are having our microphone). From this while on speaking using our head phone, its possible for me to get the frequency of my sound.I m having labview 5.1 version. If you have any simple code for this problem, Please send me.
Kindly regards
Shridhar

Hi mpshridhar,
Yes, LabVIEW 5.1 is too old a release, so I'm in a fix too. However in LabVIEW 8.6 (and other newer versions) there's an Express VI that will help you acquire signals from your microphone.
Here's an image of the VI and the pop-up that will help you acquire the signal.
Regards,
Vaibhav.

I have a feeling that that one of the following happened  :
    A. The "Post" button was clicked by mistake before the compilation was over.
    B. The OP wants to know the hardware details for  his application which looks like an engine test cell automation. ( It thus must have been in a hardware forum I guess )
Post more details on the number of analog channels , required resolution, sampling time etc and number of digital channels and there is a possiblity that we can start helping..

  • How can you create a test plan generator using labview

I am looking to create a testplan generator using labview to help RF Engineers translate test requirements into test parameters and wanted to know how i can go about it.

Have you considered to use Teststand? Teststand organizes all the tests and allows to parameterize them.
Creating a tool with a similar functionality will be more expensive than buying Teststand and modifing the operator interface.

  • Teststand automatic test report printing using LabView workaround

I tried the LabView workaround for the automatic printing of test reports in TestStand (see email message below).
It will work if I set the URL to a specific HTML TempReport.  However, TestStand is configured to generate a unique test report for each UUT.  So, in the test report directory there are xml reports and the occasional HTML report, example TestReport_00104.html.  Not sure then what to set the URL to?
Note:  Your reference number is included in the Subject field of this message.  It is very important that you do not remove or modify this reference number, or your message may be returned to you.
    Hi Bill,
    Thanks you for your reply.
Right ok. Well, if you are interested in the LabVIEW workaround, I can send this to place it in your modified sequential model.
The workaround works as desired. It does it all automatically. I have set it to not prompt the user for the print dialogue but this can be easily changed. Therefore, for any example program in Teststand, if it is based on the modified sequential model, an HTML style report will be printed on the default printer automatically.
It needs to be placed in the following location:
Within the Sequential Model, within 'Single Pass>>Print Report' do the following:
    - Replace all the 'Main' steps (Navigate to HTML, Print HTML File & Close IE Browser) with the LabVIEW function call.
    - This one function call will do all the steps above at once.
NOTE: In the LabVIEW VI, you will need to select the correct directory where the new html files are being created. Otherwise the print function will not work. This is called URL. Make you sure you have checked this.
For ease of understanding I have included these steps in a word document with screen shots.
As I do not know which version of LabVIEW you might have, I have attached three versions of the .vi file; 2012, 2011 and 2010.
In regards to the mention of Teststand not having built in functionality for automatic printing of reports, unfortunately this is the case.
I hope this will be a sufficient workaround for you.
If you problems implementing this solution, please ask me for further information. However, it should be fairly simple to do.
Just to inform you, I will be out of the office from 12.45pm today for the rest of the week on annual leave.
I will be back in the office on Monday 14th January 2013, should you have any further queries.

    Hi Bill,
    I managed to implement this.
In the sequential model I added a LabVIEW action after 'Add Root Tags To XML Report'
As URL I use a sequence local: Locals.ReportFilePath
I points to the ML report in my case and then the VI works fine.
However I'm looking for extra functionality and that is waiting untill printing is completed.
Can you help me on that ?

  • Good NI Test Stand Examples For a Beginner (Using LabVIEW)

Hi everyone, I am new to using NI Test Stand.  I have gone through the "Getting Started with NI Test Stand" and "Using LabVIEW with Test Stand" documents.
I know in the NI Test Stand Example folder there are many examples.  Are there any examples that cater to new users to Test Stand?
Where can I find good examples (demos) for developing test sequences, local variables, parameters, etc...in Test Stand?
    Thanks so much!

If you have the SSP you could access online training an do the exercises on the training.
but the examples is a good way to getting started. just play around with all the options you have.

  • Want to input interference signal in labview + perform bandpass filtering/demodulation

Hello to whom it may concern,
I have a fiber-based OCT system linked to a Tektronix TDS 2024B digital oscilloscope, with which is showing the interference fringes of the low-coherence lightsource. The signal is linked to the computer using the NI DAQ Board USB-6251. I want to input the fringes using Labview and not only that, but to perform a high-pass filter command, along with an active full-wave rectifier and a lowpass filter to see the group velocity of the interference pulse. Now I am new to using Labview so this question be a little elementary, however I am struggling here. Any helps are greatly appreciated.

    Hello!
Basically  you will need to measure a signal in LabVIEW and then perform some processing on it. First I suggest, if you haven’t, getting familiar to LabVIEW and DAQmx that are basically what you will use for acquisition. For processing, you might find useful some toolkits we have for filters and signal processing. I’m linking information on these subjects, if you wish, you can download them in evaluation mode and take a look at the examples on how to use those functions.

Items 1, 2 (machine control), and 5 clearly are areas where LV is already used. Items 3 and 4 may be more dependent on sensor technology than on software, although obviously complete systems in those areas will include much software.
LV can be used as a tool in almost any kind of research, but the research topic choice should not be driven primarily by the tools available. The way you worded your query it is like a mechanical engineer saying, "I have a hammer. I want to do mechanical research which will make use of the hammer."
To stretch that analogy way too far: It would be better for that mecahnical engineer to say, " I want to study the strength of materials. One of my constraints is that my equipment budget is limited to the price of a hammer." Then he might decide to study nails.
Consider item 4. digital scent technology. If you do not have access to suitable sensors, you could only do simulations in software, and the quality of the simulations would depend on the accuracy of any published models of the sensors. If you have a gas chromatograph and a mass spectrometer, you could create profiles of scents which could later be used in a portable device. Without knowing where you are in that range os possibilities, it is impractical for someone to make useful suggestions to you.

  • Complicated graph on Excel using Labview

    Hello All
    1. I am trying to plot some complicated graphs from some csv data file. I have been able to do this in excel using chart wizard. However, I want to automate this process using Labview. I am stuck at trying to plot a excel graph with primary and secondary Y-axis.I am attaching the project file and the relevant Vi. I am also attaching a same excel sheet which shows the finished version of the graph.
    2. I am also having trouble with formating the graph to make it similar to that obtained from excel.Specifically
    (a) How do I place the legends at the bottom of the screen
    (b) Also, how do to turn values on X-axis by 90 degrees and also display all discrete values instead of every 3rd or every 4th data point.
    Vi - MOS_FUT_Display1_Attempt4.vi
data file in csv format - MOS_Scores_Generic_Overall_27Oct09.csv
original excel along with reference output formatting - MOS_Scores_Generic_Overall_27Oct09.xls
It is notnecessary for me to use excel to get my output, if I can use any other functions or vi to get the desired results, I am Ok with it.
Thanks a lot for your help.

  • Dynamically build VI using LabVIEW

I'm currently working on an application and I would like to be able to generate VI's using LabVIEW. I remember seeing something like this being used before, so I would like to know how one would go about accomplishing such a feat. The point is that I want to be able to use LabVIEW to generate LabVIEW VI's add some elements to those VI's (controls, functions, etc).
    Thanks in advance,

I can not comment on when, but it will become available, someday.
Vision Builder has been doing this for years.
The LV State Diagram Editor (which is wonderful by the way) can obviously edit diagrams and is apparently implemented as a VI!
THe SD Editor (which is great by the way, I love this thing, NO MORE PowerPoint to design) is an incredibly small add-on. This leads me to suspect much of this functionality (i.e. VI's to edit VI's) is already implmented in LV, we just do not have mechanisms to get at it (other than using the very restricted tools mentioned above).
I stongly agree with Wiebe in that this functionality will be rather challenging to master.
It will also be dificuly to support!
Imagine the type of code that would result. here
    is one mind bogling possiblity.
    Write three VI's
    "A.VI" alternately calls "B" and "C".
"B.VI" Executes a "random VI" evaluates the reuslts and clones a modified version of itself as "C.VI" based its evaluation of the random code results and any prior experiments it has performed.
C.VI then duplicates the actions of B.
This could lead to a type of artificial intellegent code that is able to adapt it own algorithm.
What happens if the code after learning and growing decides it does not want to do math anymore and would rather just listen to the same albumn over and over again?
How does a support engineer address that?
The reason I present this extreme case was that this functionaly, when it comes, it will be limited at first (as we see in dynamic event registration).
I seem to remember Rolf Kalbermatter (on Info-LabVIEW) saying something like "Self modifying code is a bad idea and went out style years ago".

  • Spellman power supply SL40PN2000 remote control using Labview

We have a SL40PN2000 Spellman power supply. We want to do remote programming using Labview program.
We want to control the voltage output.
    Many thanks for your help.

You need to first determine the remote control interface. Is it GPIB, RS-232, Ethernet, USB, etc.? In the case of GPIB, you would need to purchase a GPIB controller.
There is not an existing instrument driver but you can review the information here on what a driver is and how to devleop one.

  • I want to write a program in LabView then pass the test results to teststand to check if it pass or fail without displaying the test stand program,

I want to write a program in LabView and create an execute but I want to be able to pass test results to test stand to find it the unit pass ar fail the test then save the data to a database. How would i go about it.

What's confusing is your statement that you want to do this "without display the test stand program". You can minimize the TestStand UI to the task bar but if you don't want TestStand to be running, how can TestStand evaluate the result. Explain a little more please.
In the message body of your post, you just say you want to create a LabVIEW exe and pass the results to TestStand. What I would recomend is that instead of an exe, you create a dll and use TestStand's DLL adapter to call it and return the results. TestStand will evaluate it and do the logging.

  • I want to use labview controls in VB ? how do i do it

i want to use labview controls in VB ? how do i do it?

The easiest way to do this is to create a LabVIEW DLL and call it from vb. So write a vi in labview with the front panel you want and then compile it into a dll. The only problem with this is that when vb calls the dll nothing else can happen in vb. Hope this helps.

I want to be able to use airplay to stream audio to another iOS device, and then use that audio stream to be used when recording video instead of the built in microphone / microphone input. Is this possible?

A third-party app probably cannot obtain a stream from another app. To the best of my knowledge, such a capability is not provided in the software development kit, apps being "sandboxed" from each other and so allowed to communicate only in very specific and limited ways.
I'm not completely sure what you mean by "limitations on video capture". An iPhone, to the best of my knowledge, can natively record video only through it's built-in camera, and audio while doing video recording only through the built-in microphone or mic/headphone jack. There might be a video recording app that would allow audio input from an external device connected to the dock connector, but I'm not sure.
