I want to throw this Ipod!
My Ipod is sick the only thing it does is charge when plugged into the computer but thats all it does. No updating at all. My computer does not see it as hardware and itunes doesn't see it either. Someone help please. I have tried everything and spent days searching for answers.
When you plug your iPod in, hold the middle and menu buttons until it goes all blank. Then the apple logo will come up on your screen and then it'll all work!! My computer made that BEEP noise it usually makes when i plug my iPod in and then i could put my music on it.
Seriously, it worked MAGIC on my iPod.

Trying to sync ipod with itunes library, but I keep getting this message, " The ipod is synced with another itunes library. Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this i tunes library?"
I do not want to erase my ipod!!! Any suggestions?? please help!Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive (works the same with an SD card) into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

The ipod 'harms ipod' is synced with another itunes library.Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this itunes library? An ipod can be synced with only one itunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replace the contents of this ipod with the contents of this itunes library.
I don't know what to do? I should save my library before I replace the contents, but I don't know how to do that! HELP!!See this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different methods and software available to assist you with the task of copying content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

I used to use my desktop computer for all my iPod and iTunes needs, but it's Windows XP so I no longer use it. I now have a Windows 8.1 laptop which I want to use for my iPod. Photos can be backed up but I have a lot of game progress and iMessages that I don't want to lose. You will lose your app data unless you backup to the new computer and then restore from backup will all the app in the iTunes library of the new computer.

Try this:
1. Sync to your Windows XP desktop so you do not lose anything.
2. Turn on Sharing.
3. Import your iTunes data from the Windows XP to your Windows 8.1 through Sharing.
4. Connect iPod to Windows 8.1 laptop, erase and re-sync.
5. You lose nothing.

I want to update this iPod without losing all of my friends music and apps. What should I do?
To update
iTunes 10 for Windows: Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
A 2G to 4.2.1. Requires iTunes version 10.X. That requires a Mac with OSX 10.5.8 or later. With 1OSX 10.4.11 you can only go to iTunes 9.X which gets you as high as iOS 4.1
A 3G to 5.1.1 Requires iTunes version 10.5 or later
A 4G to 6 Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. That requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later
Identifying iPod models
Since you are stuck at 4.2.1 you may have a 2G iPod.
iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318. -
Was not copied because it cannot be played on this ipod
I am getting this message when I try to put songs on my ipod.
I have had the ipod for over a year and have never had any problems until now.
I bought an album of iTunes Store, burned an audio CD,imported it into iTunes as MP3 and tried to put the mp3 files on my ipod, but I keep getting the message This song was not copied because it cannot be played on this ipod, This has never happened before, any help appreciated. This is the way I have always managed my purchased music, has something changed within iTunes to stop you from doing this??I'm having the same problem with files purchased from Apple, burned to CD, then imported as .mp3 files. The problem just started recently. This needs a fix as it is very annoying and makes me want to ditch this IPod.
The two solutions proposed in this forum will work but...
Rebuilding the library is very time consuming when you have a library with 30 GB. The other work around of removing files from the library then reimporting them also works, but is very time intensive for multiple files. Is there a way to get word to the folks who can fix this??
Thanks to those who offered the solutions. -
I want to buy an iPod, but I have no Credit Card.
I want to buy this iPod Nano from the apple store, but I have noe Credit Card.
It says I can pay via bank transfer, but I have to do it beforehand.
Furthermore I have to put a number they will give me, when I successfully ordered it, into the transfer information.
But how am I supposed to get this number, when they only accept credit cards for ordering?Your best shot it to go to an actual apple store, and to pay in person with cash. You could also go to most stores and pick up a gift card from one of the major companies, like American express.

I want to buy a Ipod Nano 16gb that says it holds up to 4,000 songs, 16 hours of video, and 14,000 pictures. On my Itunes Library, I have 2,593 songs and it says I have 19.88 gb just of songs. How is this possible? If I buy the Nano, will I not be able to have all my songs on the ipod? The music is my first and only prioarity. I want to be able to have up to at least 3,000 songs, even if that means not having video or pictures. Can someone please help me?

Daniella,
The estimated song capacities, such as 4000 songs in 16 GB, are based on 4 minute songs of 4 MB each, which is what you get at 128 encoding.
Most of us nowadays use well above 128. (For example, the iTunes Store and Amazon MP3 both sell songs only in 256.)
However, you can still make more songs fit! When you sync your iPod, use the option to "convert higher bit rate songs," as pictured. Choose 128. This fits more on the iPod, but does not change the songs in your library. -

I have a very old Ipod probably 12 years old. It could be the first or second generation. I have music on it that I would like to put on my new one. I have not updated this Ipod since I purchased several computers ago. How do I put the music from this Ipod into my library. It is music from CDs I own. I really don't want to have to take all that time to redo that again. Can anyone tell me how to do this. I would like to update my library with this music and update this old Ipod with new music for use in my car. It works great and does what I need it to do so I can't see tying up my new Ipod or Iphone when I want to use it in my car. I appreciate any suggestions you can give me. Thanks
Restore them to the new computer using the bakcup of the old one. If you don't have a backup of the old computer, you can re-download music purchased from the iTunes store. If they were imported from CD's, etc. You will either have to re-rip them or purchase third party software to extract them from the phone. The iPhone is not a backup or data transfer device.

I want to add another ipod under my exticting I tunes. But want to set it up as a different account and user. Is this possible and how?
The easiest way is set up a new user profile on your PC. Then copy the iTunes folder to the public folder and from there copy it to the iTunes folder in the new user profile.
(this way you can use music in both accounts, even if you bought it from Apple - it needs to be DRM free though, so older stuff might be protected) -
we just bought a new imac (OS 10.6.8) and I want to transfer my ipod apps from my old computer is there a way to do this?
Copy your entire itunes folder from the old computer to the new one.
