I want to transfer my information from my iPad to my computer, but it keeps asking me if I want to restore and wipe the data off my iPad. How can I send the info from my iPad to my computer without getting the crap my kid has on I-tunes?

Photos are copied off the iPad outside of iTunes. To copy photos to your computer that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a PC you can use the windows camera wizard, on a Mac you can use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture
To copy photos that were originally synced from a computer you will need a third-party app such as Simple Transfer which can copy them off via your wifi network. But as photos are 'optimised' when they are synced to the iPad, any that you then copy back to a computer may not be exactly the same as they originally were on your computer.

Transfer the app into iTunes on your computer and then sync the app to the iPad. If you have never synced with iTunes before, it will be a little more complicated that that, but you can still do it if you follow the instructions in the user tip below.
If you are already syncing with iTune, it will be very simple and easy to do.

iPhoto doesn't recognize RAW files on my ipad and unfortunately, I've deleted the images from the SD card in my camera. I'm concerned that I've lost access to these images for processing. Any advice?

If the images are in iPhoto for iOS use the Share to iTunes feature. Then connect your iPad to the computer you normally sync with, open iTunes, select your iPad in the left column of iTunes and in the right column select General. Ten scroll down to find the File Sharing area and select iPhoto. You will see a pane where your photos are listed and you can copy them to your computer. I'm not completely sure the copies will be RAW files but at least you have saved a version of the photos.
I use my iPad to review, display and post photos but I use my computer to actually process RAW files. While I often connect my camera to my iPad to transfer photos I never delete them from the card and ill eventually copy them to more than one hard drive.

How to export photos from an ipad to a mac computer

I have an iPad Retina on which I took approximately 350 screen grabs for my work.
(The screen grabs were made on the iPad with the home and lock buttons pressed together, I use them for app reports).
These screen grabs didn't go into the Photos folder called "Albums" when I saved them, but instead they were saved into a folder called "Photos" (in which are three sorting options, called "Years", "Collections" and "Moments").
I now need to put all these photos into a folder on my iMac and then delete them to clear up a working session.
But if I click more than 5 of them, the "mail" option disappears, and the remaining options are "Message", "Flickr", "Copy" or "Print".
"Message" didn't work, it seems to be designed to send text messages, but I could still manage to write an email address in the "to" field, and it didn't get through.
"Flickr" didn't work at all (the "+" sign to add a new account let me to a white pop-up window, I added an account from the Settings page, sent the photos to Flickr but they never arrived on the Flickr account).
"Copy" didn't work, I thought I could afterwards paste them into an email, but no luck there, it just crashed the mail app.
...and "Print", that seems to be far away from what I'm trying to do.
Airdrop cannot work between the iMac (pre OS X10.10) and the iPad. Flickr doesn't work either, at all.
When I use third-party apps like Dropbox, Instamail or any other WiFi photos sharing/exporting app, the only photos these apps can access are the ones in the photos folder called "Albums", and not a single one of the photos from the "Photos" album.
Also, as sad as it may seem, and as I've said earlier, the third-party applications I installed such as Dropbox are not an option when I select the photos in the roll and then click on "Share", but "Flickr" is...? Both "share" buttons, the one on top and the one to the right of each date give the same very limited results.
iTunes cannot do it. This iMac doesn't have iPhoto.
I was thinking about using a software like iExplorer to manually go dig into the root folders, but surely there has to be another way?

You should be able to do it with Dropbox.

I authorized the computer (it is the ONLY computer authorized on this account - and this is the ONLY account on this iPad). ITunes then downloaded my purchases...or at least it tried - out of the hundreds of tracks I have purchased, it managed one album that I bought over a year ago and NOTHING else. So I tried to Sync - since on older versions of iTunes (that were SO MUCH MORE user friendly) that would do the job -transferring things that were only on the iPad onto the computer and vice versa. So I went from my iPad's summary to the Music tab - the box for Music was not checked but when I checked it said the only thing it could do was erase EVERYTHING from my iPad and replace it with what was on my computer (that ONE album). What is going on?

You can copy iTunes purchases from the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music purchased from other stores or copied from your CDs you can either copy them onto your new computer from your old computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527) or backup, or you will need to find a third-party program that can copy them off the iPad

I haven't used iTunes on my laptop in a while but I believe that if you authorize your computer it will allow you to transfer the pictures. Not 100% sure though.
How do I authorize a computer?
Open iTunes on the computer you want to authorize.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You might need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
If iTunes asks you to authorize your computer again, it won't use a new authorization. iTunes uses the same authorization for the same computer.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Your best method would be to connect via USB and transfer that way, since videos are not transferred using photostream.
However you can stop photos on your mac being added to photostream in the iPhoto preferences > photostream by unchecking the automatic upload box.
