I want to transfer my Quicken data from a pc to my macbook pro. I use Quicken to pay bills and track investments. HAs anyone done that and if so what has been best way to handle that?

I am wanting to transfer my itunes account from our PC to our Macbook pro. Our PC has been riddled with problems and is slower than heck. The only problem is that my wife already has her own Itunes account on the Macbook. I have already consolidated the itunes library from my pc and backed it up to an external HD to move, but I have no idea where to go from here. I don't want to overwrite any of her stuff. There are many ways to accomplish this, depending on how you want it. Setting up multiple accounts is easy under System Preferences:Accounts. After that open iTunes on your newly created account.
Now, is where you could do a couple of different things. If your PC is sharing the same network and you are able to see the files on the PC from the iMac, then just drag and drop the iTunes Library music folder structure (just the part that contains the actual music) into the iTunes window. If you can't access the PC files, then you need to copy them all to an external hard drive, and import them w/ the same method.
If you don't want to create a second root-level account for yourself, but want to keep the music library separate, create another iTunes Library. You do this by holding down the Option key while starting iTunes, then click on the Create Library option. Then import the music using either method above. -

They said attach a fire wire, and press "t' before the iMac starts up and then it will start in safe mode (or something like that). But I don't know what to do next. Can anyone help me?

When you start up your iMac holding the T key, it will start up in Target Disk mode. In this mode, the iMac's hard disk appears as an external drive in your MacBook Pro, so you can access there and recover your data.
After starting in Target Disk mode, open a Finder window in the MacBook Pro and you will see the iMac's hard drive in the Finder sidebar, under "Devices". Select it, navigate through your folders and copy them to your MacBook Pro's hard drive.

I m trying to make a transfer to all my data from my imac to my macbook pro with wireless ... And using my transfer manager as requested but it show 55 hours time to download ? Whats wrong ?So there are several factors that may point to why your transfer is going to take so long. First and foremost it is going to be the type/speed of wireless you're using. Your router and computers should all be using the same type of wifi (ie 802.11G or 802.11N). That will ensure the best "theoretical" transfer speeds across your network. Depending on what type of router you have and what type of wireless cards your computers have that will determine the max theoretical transfer speeds you could achieve. For instance the fastest available wifi is currently 802.11N at approximately 300MB/S maximum transfer speed. Realistically you'll probably see about 10% of that.
Secondly the speed of the computers and their hard drives will also play a large factor in the transfer time. If your computer has a slower processor or uses a lot of virtual ram (which uses the hard disc drive) you will experience slower transfer speeds.
As seventy one said you will experience MUCH faster transfer speeds over ethernet. You will especially noticie faster speeds over gigabit ethernet. Gigabit speeds require both computers to have a gigabit ethernet port and a router with a gigabit ethernet switch.
With all of that being said depending on other variables the connection may speed up and slowdown depending on current network traffic and your transfer time may increase/decrease accordingly. I would suspect it won't take 55 hours. -

Ok, so I want to buy the new iPod touch 5g this week and I have an iPhone 4. I want to transfer all the data from the iPhone to the iPod and have the files the exact same. I don't want to redo data, say erase game data (campaigns, achievements)... I'm buying a new Macbook Pro this week and am wondering what is the best way to copy over the software I have from my existing Macbook Pro to the new one? eg. Photoshop and Office etc. I no longer have the CDs.
Ya know what I'm on a brand new MBP just about 24 hours old and you know whats been working amazingly for me. I have a 27inch iMac as well and i've just connected it to my network and been dragging files and apps across the network onto my new MBP. Its really working fast and its flawless. You could always do that option, Just go into sharing options and turn them on for both Macs. Then just click and drag. Of course they have to both be on the same network for this to be possible.

Shared is what your looking at. I click on there see all my computers files and then drag the ones i want form its folder to my MBP folders. Hope that helps if your looking for a very simple way on a wireless network. -
What's the best way to handle new versions of software?
So we have an Application setup for Adobe Reader (just using Reader as a general example) which is part of our Task Sequence. When Adobe releases a new version of Reader, what's the best way to handle getting the new version into our SCCM setup.
I know I can create a new application and do it all over and select the new file, but can I simply replace the files that the application is pointing to and then somehow tell it to update the DPs with the new files? I'd rather not have to create new
applications every time if I don't have to.
Thanks.I think continue the way you are doing right now by creating a new application each time there is a version change. Its a clean way to do and this helps with Application life cycle mgmt aswell where you keep track of versions across the environments and
eventually retire an application. Specially where no changes are made without a change control. This is completely process specific and may not be applicable.
i do agree with above posted comments about using supercedence option.
However most of the apps comes with upgrade capabilities from previous versions. So you can upgrade existing version with new one if you do not wish to use supercedence.

What is the best way to handle input parameter
When writing sub-vi's, what is the best way to handle input parameter range checking? On the front panel I can choose to have numeric values coerced to be within range, but this does not affect constants or controls wired to the vi when used as a sub-vi. I can build range checking into the vi, but this can result in a cluttered looking vi. Do you have any suggestions.
As you discovered, the Range and Coercion properties of controls do not work when used in sub-vis.
Your best option is to go ahead and build your range checking into your sub-vis. If it�s something you will be doing a lot, just make your range checking a sub-vi and drop it where needed. This will keep the clutter to a minimum. You may end up with more than one range checking VI if you need different functionality, but this will still make less clutter and easier re-use.

SamTo move an iPhoto Library to a new machine:
Link the two Macs together: there are several ways to do this: Wireless Network,Firewire Target Disk Mode, Ethernet, or even just copy the Library to an external HD and then on to the new machine...
But however you do choose to link the two machines...
Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.
If you're moving to Lightroom:
You need to export the images from iPhoto to the Finder, then import them to your Lightroom Catalogue.

I have lightroom 5.7. Now I have apple TV to connect my Mac to the TV scree. I wish to do a slide show on the TV. However, on the Mac, using ITunes to share photos with the TV, I cannot locate all photo files. What is the best way to save the slide show and put it where the Mac sharing can find it? So far, I made on one folder in Lightroom, put some photos there and I found them easily. Can this be done with a slide show? Please help quickly! Also worried that the photos I put on the new folder are hard to find afterwards, when the show is done. Where do they go when I delete from from the new folder?I am not alone
Not that I'm aware of. You just export JPEG copies to a folder that you can point iTunes to. For instance, I have created a folder in my Pictures folder called Apple TV. And within that folder I have other folders of pictures that I can choose from in iTunes to share with Apple TV. But there doesn't seem to be any way to share a Lightroom slideshow. If you have laid to create a video file that would probably work. Apple TV is a little clunky in my opinion. Some things are a little more difficult to do now than they were a while back. I probably haven't provided you with much help, but just keep experimenting and I think you will figure it out.
