I want to trial Elements 11 without damaging installed Elements 9

I want to trial Elements 11 to confirm that it works with my new camera.
I have Elements 9 working and I do not want to damage that installation until I have decided to buy 11.
I downloaded the trial.  As soon as I start it I get an intimidating question with no help, description or documentation, and I can't find any comment on Adobe's site.
The choices are:
1/ Upgrade My Catalog to version 11 - which I clearly do not want to do at this time
2/ Create a new catalog.
What I want to know is that the 'new' catalog is additional and would not overwrite the existing elements 9 catalog. I will certainly not proceed until I  am confident.

Have a look there :
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/elementsorganizer/using/WSae2ea3b149d0c3591ae939f103860b3d59-7 f59_WIN.html
See the paragraph :
Notes for users upgrading their catalogs to Photoshop Elements 11
The first choice, upgrading, means that a new catalog is created in the PSE11 format, leaving the old one unchanged.
You can work with both versions, each keeping its own catalog.
The catalogs are totally independent : the changes you do in one are not known to the other.
With the changes in PSE11 you'll have to learn how to deal with the new interface, so the first choice (conversion) will be necessary anyway some day...

You don't have to and if you use any of the features removed in v12 (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1302663?tstart=0) you might want to keep it.

    No, I have PSE 6, 11 & 12 installed on my computer.
PSE 6 is a full copy, 11 is an upgrade and 12 is a full copy.

I just purchased Elements 12. Should i uninstall Elements 6 before installing Elements 12?

    Hi Dm606,
You don't need to uninstall Photoshop Element 6 before installing
    Photoshop Element12.
However, it is totally your decission to uninstall PSE6 but it won't give you any
    problem if both version co-exist.
    Hope this helps.
Please let me know if you have any other question.

  • I just want a refund; have given up installing Elements 12 due to error in installing "shared technologies"

This refers to Order No. 12642019825 for Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 which I bought online yesterday for USD135.62. My trial version worked all right - thank you for that. But after paying an arm and a leg for the licensed version - this from a third world country - I couldn't install the software due to a persistent error message regarding installation of "shared technologies." I've tried every suggestion in the Adobe forums and nothing seems to work.
Installation shouldn't be a burden imposed on a paying customer. You need a rocket scientist to install this lemon, maybe you need to hire the techies from the Jet Propulsion Lab who are able to fix bugs on the Mars rovers merely by zapping a signal from Mother Earth.
Refund me, please, I will buy it again if you can sell a easy-to-install product. And, hey, please answer me directly at [email protected]
    Thank you.
    Strongly Dissatisfied Customer.

Hi, Ned, I posted this in another thread. FYI.
"I FOUND THE SOLUTION! Sorry to say, I did this after disregarding the
absolutely useless advise from Adobe's "experts" that led me nowhere. For
the sake of users out there experiencing the same problem, here's how I did
    it.
    1. Installed Elements 12 until it got to the point where it the error
message says "The installation process has met some error installing Shared
Technologies. Please restart your system and try again."
    2. Well, I did not restart my system or allow the process to roll back. If
you look at the desktop, the Elements 12 icon and shortcut already appears
    - it seems the installation is 99.99% complete, except that you cannot open
    it.
    3. While clicking the short cut, a message said something like "some device
is missing. Download the latest Adobe Application Manager to open (or
start) your trial software" or words to that effect. I did download the
    latest Adobe Application Manger  8.0.
    4. After downloading the Adobe Application Manager, I clicked the Elements
12 shortcut again and lo and behold it opened and is running beautifully.
However, the warning in No. 1 above is still displayed. Don't ever click it
or else the installation will roll back and you are back to zero. I simply
shut down the computer and restarted. Elements 12 is permanently installed.
    Thanks to some DIY tinkering.
I am not sure though if this will work on other's computers.  And by the
way, thanks to Adobe's experts for being nice."

  • Should I uninstall Elements 10 before installing Elements 12

I just purchased Elements 12 to replace Elements 10 should I uninstall the older version?

Totally up to you. You can keep both if you want. You may want to leave PSE 10 at least till you're sure you don't care about any of the missing features in PSE 12, like color variations and the magic extractor. If you're running windows, much of that can be restored from your copy of 10, if you want.

  • Should I uninstall Premiere Elements 10 before installing Elements 12?

I got Elements 12 today, but I would like to know if I should uininstall Elements 10 first.

    John,
There is no reason to do so. The two versions can co-exist quite nicely. PrE 12 will install into a different folder structure, from your PrE 10 installation.
Many users keep the older version(s) installed, until they have learned the newer version - there are some significant changes between PrE 10 & PrE 12. Then, when they are fully up to speed with the newer, might consider Uninstalling the previous. A few users keep each older version, because one might do something better, or for testing purposes in the forums. I have a few older versions, and at least two users have about everything, going back to about PrE 4.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Attempting to uninstall Elements 10 before installing Elements 11.  Uninstall crashes - help.

Have made many attempts to uninstall Elements 10 but it crashes early in the process. Something about the specified path not found. Please help.

Are you using the uninstaller for PSE10 or on Windows Add/Remove programs via the control panel?
See this link for manually removing the software. It relates to the latest version but you can possibly adapt it.

  • Install Elements and Premiere??

I recently purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 Premiere.  I had previously downloaded Elements 7 and used it as a trial version.  After I made the above purchase, I transferred all my photos from a Kodak program into Elements 7.  Now I want to install the Premiere part and work with my videos.  When I go to install it, there isn't enough room on my hard disk.  My question is, does Premiere incorporate all the elements of the regular Elements 7 program?  In other words, do they overlap, or is Premiere an add-on?Should I save all my photos online or in My Documents/My Pictures, then uninstall Elements 7 and install Elements 7 Premiere instead?  I'm confused about what needs to be installed to use both programs, and save disk space.

There is a download for Windows files 1 & 2 and a single download for Mac OSX.
Similar downloads are available for Premiere Elements here:

  • Installing Elements 5 on 4.. how?

    Hi all
i have Elements 4 on my computer, and i will probably upgrade to the 5 soon
so i wanted to know how do i Install elements 5 over 4?
do i uninstall first 4 than install? install 5 and than uninstall 4?
    without loosing all my catalogue!?
    Thanks alot!

I believe the following happens but I have not upgraded to Version 5 yet. Could someone who has confirm?
When you install Version 5, it converts existing My Catalog.PSA and renames old catalog to My Catalog-1.PSA.
When you open Version 4, it likely will try to open My Catalog.PSA (as it does not know about the catalog being converted). You'll have to point to old catalog with File>Open>Catalog.
After that, as Colin has pointed out, any Organizer changes (tags, collections, etc.) written in Version 4 will not show in Version 5 and vice versa.

  • Before installing Elements 12 do I need to uninstall previous versions?

Do I need to uninstall Elements 10 before installing Elements 12?

No, you don't need to but you can.  If you purchased 12 as an upgrade for 10 then it can help to keep 10 installed to get thru the activation of 12.

  • I want to re-install Elements 10 on a new pc. The disk is damaged and i can't find a downloadversion

I want to re-install Elements 10 on a new pc.However the disk is damaged and i can't find a downloadversion. What now?

if you follow all 7 steps you can dl a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/photoshop-elements-10-direct-download-links-pse-premiere-pre.htm l
    and activate with your serial.
if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).
