In my business it is critical that I be able to enter numbers in the format I choose. I want to type "0800" or "20.00"; Pages automatically "corrects" the entries to: "800" and "20." ! How can I turn this automatic correcting OFF? I am a relatively new user of Pages and cannot find a means of turning the autocorrect OFF.or of setting the number formatting rules.
Pages v5.5.2 does not change 0800, or 20.00 when entered as body text for me. There is nothing in substitution, or Pages preferences settings that can effect these values.
However, when typed in a Pages table cell with the wrong data format, mischief does occur. In order to preserve 0800, select the Cell tab on the format panel, and set the cell data format to Text, or a custom data format. To preserve 20.00, you must set that cell data format to either Automatic with 2 decimals, or Number with 2 decimals.

You can use separate AppleIDs for iCloud, iMessage and iTunes - you just need to create unique AppleIDs for the iCloud accounts if syncing contacts that way (you will need an email address that is not already registered as an AppleID though to get another AppleID).
Apps are a different matter in that purchases are tied to the AppleID used to log in to the store to make the purchase. So you can create another AppleID for iTunes as well and use different ones on the different phones, but any apps you have already purchased with your existing AppleID are permanently tied to that AppleID.
Really, unless you are sharing apps, content and such, there is no reason to use the same AppleID on each anyway. So the simplest solution is to create new AppleID(s) for the second device. If you need an email address to do that, just get a gmail account (or hotmail, yahoo or any other free email account). -
When creating a comment summary, I want to end up with a pdf of comments only. In addition, I do not want author, date, time, or page number to show in my comments summary. How can I do this? I do a lot of reading, and when I summarize my comments, I like to save these comments in a larger document I compile over time. I typically create a comment summary, export it to a text editor and find myself having to delete author, date, time, page number, and anything else that is not the raw and net comment. It would save me some good time if someone showed me how to do this. The reason I do not want any additional information is because it simply adds stuff I do not need in my compilation of summaries for large amounts of papers over time.
What you're describing can't be achieved using the built-in comments summary function of Acrobat, but it can certainly be done if a custom-made script it used to generate the summary because then you're in full control of what's included in it and what's not.

My agent wants me to mark my book's pages as Birch/DeadOnArrival/1, 2, 3 etc. How do I do this in Word for Mac? Birch is author's name, DeadOnArrival is book title, then page numbers starting not of cover page but first page of first chapter.

In version 3.x.x I used to be able to type search terms into the address bar and the page would load, similar to Google's "Feeling Lucky" button. Now it just brings up a Google search for the terms I typed in. How can I get this time saving feature back?
The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.

I want to share PDF documents with others. These documents have been edited (mostly highlights) by me using Preview. I want to share these documents without the changes I've made. How can I do this? Do I have to manually erase all of the changes I've made. The people I want to share it with also have macs.
IsaacYou can move the iTunes folder to a separate drive on your pc an then configure each account to use this drive / folder as iTunes library ... The problem is, that iTunes by default stores everything in your personal music folder which is separate for each user account in windows (and by default is on "C" drive).
I create a separate partition on every pc/laptop (and map a drive name) where I store music, videos and other mass data. This will also keep the "C" drive small, which is backed up from time to time and so my backup is also small. -
I jailbreaked my iPhone 5 and now i don't want the jailbreak any more so i restored the iphone without iTunes and then it turned it self off and now its stuck on the black screen with the loading sign. So please how can i turn my iPhone on again?
I figured it out by pressing the home button and the off button but when i turn my phone on again it's not restored. And when i try to restore it with iTunes it has to update but i can't update my phone because it's jailbreaked but if i can't update it, it won't restore the phone.

I have my mail set to retrieve data manually. When I retrieve mail, I get a popup box for each and every e-mail message asking if I want to view or cancel and must either view or cancel each one before I can use other apps on the ipad. How can I turn these popups off?

You need to use the Find My iPhone app (in the itunes store - free). When invoking it on a device, you enter the ID password of the account the lost device is connected to. You can also use a computer's browser and log into icloud.com.

I don't need the YAHOO. I find it so completely annoying that you have forced me to look at TITLE tags when I am trying to find the URL I want. This ought to be a setting that I could control. There was a feature similar to what you are describing, that was in and out of the Firefox 4.0 betas last fall, but the 3.6 versions never had anything remotely like what your description has me visualizing.

My operating system is OS X (version 10.6.8) and I have a Mac Mini.
Trust me when I say this coming from 20 years of experience.
Get a powered external drive, format it 1 Partition Option: GUID and OS X Extended Journed as the format in Disk Utility.
Download and install Carbon Copy Cloner, clone internal drive to external drive.
Set a schedule to remind you to do it at least once a week, keep it near your charger.
When you plug your charger in, do plug the clone and power the machine up, set the display to sleep only,
CCC will do the rest.
If you want to boot from it, hold the option/alt and select it Startup Manager.
I've seen many TimeMachine and TimeCapsule nightmares and so far haven't seen a problem from anyone using a bootable clone.
It's simple, it's easy, it's more reliable and more powerful than what Apple does and it only takes plugging in a extra cable.
Make as many clones as you want, keep them time seperated, off site etc. etc.
Cables don't have network issues, clones can be verified in seconds merely by booting from them.
Clones protect your productivity, your up in seconds on a clone despite even the hard drive dying.
Software problem? No sweat, boot of the clone and reverse clone your problems away.
If you want to fuss and muss with half implemented TimeMachine and TimeCapsule network headaches then prepare to suffer.
I don't like to suffer, I bought a Mac not to suffer, but it appears you do with TimeMachine and TimeCapsule.

so a while back i transfered my old computer files to my new computer and when i did that i tried getting my firefox books marks added when i did it it just made a file old firefox data. i went into it it has the books marks but the problem is it isnt really readable kinda jumbled up and i wanna know if i can import it to my current one or somehow get it organized so i can at least see them apart or on a note pad just each bookmark on its own line? i added a picture of what it looks like

Never messed with JSON files other than viewing them on a few occasions out of curiosity. There are no line breaks which make them very difficult to read.
As far as working with that file in {like} NotePad goes:
A. use Find / Search for each indecent of a '''"uri"''' string, then "copy and paste" the uri into another text file, and then move on to the next "uri" string.
B. use a text program where a filter can be set for the "uri" field in the JSON file for a line break or to "scrape out" the "uri"s only for display or export to a list of uri's.
Or try using an online JSON editor like this, to try to display only the "uri" field.

If you don't have an Installer disk then you can't install without a purchase. Do you have the grey SystemRestore disks that came with your Mac? It's on that. No, iPhoto is not part of Lion.
