I want to type an essay on my mac. Is there something that is preinstalled that i can use that isn't ms word?

Text Edit is a preinstalled basic word processor. I have typed essays on it before and it works. If you want something better though, I reccomend Pages.

Sync your old address book with the one on the iPod. You may have to import them into an intermediate address book like Google contacts since that can be done by importing a file you should be able to export for your address book. Without know your old address book that is all I can say.

Was your iPod associated with a different mac or pc previously is all. And was it backed up or sync'd on this mac with iTunes previously.

I want to move pictures from my mac to iCloud.com, then I want to erase those pictures from my mac and leave them only in iCloud.. Can I do it?? It looks like it's not possible because if I erase the picture from my mac, then they'll be erased automatically in my iCloud account too!!
If you are using iCloud Photo Library and delete them from any device they will be deleted from iCloud and from all devices using iCloud Photo Library. If you want to reduce the storage space required on your Mac the following quote from iCloud Photo Library FAQ - Apple Support may help:

insteade of using mac os on macbook pro, i wanted to install windows 8 pro on mac book pro, will that void my warranty
Installing any OS you want on your machine will not void the warranty. Only making hardware changes other than those listed as "user servicable" by Apple, or negligence will void your warranty.
I will warn you that there might be SMC or EFI udates you will want for your Mac hardware that are only available if you are runnign Mac OS. For this reason, you may want to keep a small partition on your drive which still has Mac OS installed, or at the very least, keep an external HD around to be able to boot Mac OS. Additionally, if you are having hardware issues, like a failing DVD writer, you may have a harder time getting Apple to repair it under warranty if you can not reproduce the error under Mac OS. When I had the DVD writer replaced in my first MacBook Pro, I found the problems trying to write discs under Windows 7, but when the tech could reproduce an error under Mac OS, he quickly accepted it was a hardware problem and not software. Without reproducing it under Mac OS, he admitted that he might not be able to get them to replace the drive. -

when i try to download a "free" app for my ipod touch, it wants credit card billing info? a "free"" app is just that isn't it? How do I resolve this guys/gals? any advice? P.S. I don't use credit cards.
You normally need to provide some sort of payment method (in part as proof of residence in the country) before you can get even the free apps. It is possible to set up a new iTunes Store account just for free apps, but you have to create a new Apple ID; you cannot use an existing one. If you want to do that, take a look here:

Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note again that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free content without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)

Is there something that alerts when a command wants input or finishes?
Many command line operations require waiting before requiring input (eg compiling and using package managers). Many of these offer options for ignoring all questions but sometimes you don't want to do this (or miss an argument) but don't want to check the terminal all the time.
Is there a application that I can run in combination with these that will somehow alert me (sound?) that the application is finished/error or waiting for input?A finished / error state notification is easy, the program in question has finished, so you can run another program e.g. play a sound file so you know e.g. the compilation has finished.
If it just waits for input or hangs, that's another thing. -
In the old version of Firefox I could save all my open tabs when I shutdown Firefox but now with the new version it does not give me that option to save the tabs before closing Firefox.
You can set the warn prefs on the about:config page to true via the right-click context menu or toggle with a double left-click.

I have a site I do business with. They do not authorize passwords unless you are a dealer. I do not have passwords on an auto save function, as I want to type my passwords in each time for security. My password for this site will only work a short WHILE, AND THEN it will not be recognized by the site and I cannot get in.
Then I must contact the company to reset or clear it manually on their end so it can be reset. They always give me the SAME SETUP PASSWORD to use. I use it, then I RESET PASSWORD on my end. The computer seems to remember my user NAME AT least on my computer as it comes up once I start typing the username in. They SAY IT is a settings issue on my end. I do not have this problem on any other site even THOSE WITH higher SECURITY. I need to FIX the issue OR may LOSE ACCESS To the site as is very aggravating for them and they say other have had the problem but usually with chrome but never constantly.I am not that computer literate ,but my husband is an IT Security professor and textbook writer but says doesn't really know Firefox. I do not really want to store passwords on computer as have been hacked several times. He and I do not understand some of the terms mentioned. since it is not a problem with other sites it should be fixable. Please me help using terms I or my husband can understand without having to give Firefox all my passwords. I would be happy to set up something different just for this one site if I need to but need easy instructions. Have cleared the cookies before but it still happens. What setting do I need to change or set to fix this? the other questions that come up seem very different and do not apply. FF 22 now but happened w other FF versions.I'm having a little trouble understanding the part about your password having to be reset. Why is that happening??
Let's start with Firefox's settings:
(1) You can configure the password manager feature on this tab:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Security
There is a checkbox to enable/disable the feature.
There also is a "Saved Passwords" button to review and remove any passwords you do not want Firefox to keep.
That tab also has a feature to set a Master Password so that no one can use your saved passwords without knowing the Master Password. You may need to exit Firefox in order for Firefox to ask for that again.

(2) Site-specific permissions
If you want to use the password manager for other sites but NOT a particular site, you can configure that in the Permissions Manager.
In a new tab, type or paste '''about:permissions''' in the address bar and press Enter.
After the page loads, use the search box in the upper left corner to narrow down the list to the site you want to configure. Highlight the site on the left side, and on the right side, choose Block under Store Passwords.
(3) Form autocomplete suggestions
Separate from passwords, Firefox remembers entries you've made into forms (in most cases) and lists the matching ones below the form field in a drop-down.
To clear a suggestion, press the down arrow key to highlight it and press the Delete key.

Want to type in my phone contacts with my computer (NOT tiny buttons on phone)
OK so I do not use Outlook or Yahoo or any of the like type services and even if I did, it would just be email addresses and not phone numbers. I need to input all my phone contacts (about 200) into my 8330. I cannot fathom how long it is going to take using those tiny buttons on the phone itself (seeing as how my big fingers hit like 2 or 3 buttons every time I try to hit a letter while texting and I have to constantly delete and it takes forever). I dont care about adding email contacts into the phone. I want some way to type in phone numbers on the computer then sync that info into the phone's contact list. I have tried to find such a function on the desktop software, but I don't think it has anything like that. Should I just bite the bullet and start typing in contacts with the tiny buttons on the phone? WOW, what a pain, you'd think RIM woulda made this easier.

P.S. If I did go through the trouble of trying to set up some kind of Yahoo or Outlook (which aparently I'd have to pay extra for, sheesh!) account, woudl that just do email contacts or phone numbers too? (trying to figure out why on earth I'd type my friends' phone numbers into my email list?). Secondly, if I did that, would that foold my inbox with text notifications?... or my phone with email notifications? I don't want email notifications on my phone, just phone calls, texts, pix, etc.Welcome to the forums
You have a few options available to you to make this easier. Depending on your desktop manager version and your computer's OS, you can import/sync contacts with the applications in this kb article: http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14730
Google sync can also do the same, but it is not included in the list. You need a google account and have to download the google sync app.

I want to type a website and go to it but my online pages won't let me do it anymore
I use to be able to type in a website and go directly to it. I think when I updated something I lost that capability. Now the only way I get to another website is by running a search engine and clicking on it. This is really a waste of time. I want to edit the top two lines so that I can type websites in directly and go right to them.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
