I want to uninstall firefox but it tells me i need to close it i have checked on taskl manager and firefox does not show as being open. I have Windows 7 OS

I have Windows 7 OS on my desktop. I had trouble with IE9 loading a shoutbox in a Carers Forum I belong to. I loaded Firefox and it allowed me to use the shoutbox okay. But when I tried to access the games aracade it told I needed to download Adobe Flashplayer (the games play okay on IE9). I tried to download Adobe Flashplayer and it downloaded halfway, then told me I needed to close Firefox for the download to continue. I have made sure that it was closed by checking Task Manager to see which applciations were open. I get the same message if I try to download using IE9. I have tried to uninstall Firefox using Control Panel, but I get the same message saying I need to close Firefox... again i checked Task manager but it says it is not running.

  • I have installed Adobe Flash but firefox does not show as plugin

    I have downloaded the most recent versions of Firefox (30.0) and Adobe Flash Player. The Adobe website tells me my flash player is installed and current but Firefox does not show it as a plug in and a site that requires flash player (google finance) to view charts does not work. The place for the chart remains blank after telling me it has loaded.
    Any thoughts?

    When a page is using a plugin, usually an icon similar to a piece of Lego appears in the address bar. You can click the logo to check that Flash is allowed to run on the page, or approve it to run if it isn't.
    I randomly picked a stock and enlarged the chart and got the following URL. Any luck with this one: http://www.google.com/finance?chdnp=1&chdd=1&chds=1&chdv=1&chvs=maximized&chdeh=0&chfdeh=0&chdet=1405540800000&chddm=1173&chls=IntervalBasedLine&q=NASDAQ%3AAAPL&ntsp=0&fct=big&ei=YJzGU_iiEZSziALE4oCYCg

    I rented a movie and it does not show up on my apple tv but is in my video app on my phone.   How can I watch it on my tv?

    A movie rented on an iPhone can only be viewed on an iPhone. If you want to view on TV you need to rent directly on ATV or via computer (and stream using home-sharing)

  • Firefox does not show Flash based Soundcloudplayer after embedding

    Hi There,
    I have some problems with embedding from flash based content because firefox does not show the embedded content.
    Last week and the time before everything went fine but now the Flash based player of Soundcloud doesn't work anymore.
    I've tried to embed my soundcloudplayers via div tag on my nobleprofile, full code:
    <pre><nowiki><div>
    <object width="390" height="220" type="application/ x-shockwave-flash" data="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Fmanuel-turobin%2Fsets%2Fmanuel-turobin-fancy-a-swift-one-before-the-show&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=true&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=c0ff00">
    <param name="movie" value="http://player.soundcloud.com/player.swf?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsoundcloud.com%2Fmanuel-turobin%2Fsets%2Fmanuel-turobin-fancy-a-swift-one-before-the-show&amp;show_comments=true&amp;auto_play=false&amp;show_playcount=true&amp;show_artwork=true&amp;color=c0ff00" />
    <param name="wmode" value="transparent" />
    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" />
    <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" />
    </object>
    </div>
    </nowiki></pre>
    If I use the "data" URL I can see the player but I dont know why there are problems for a week with that embedding?!
    Thanks for any help!

    I notice a space in type="application/ x-shockwave-flash" in not working flash objects.
    Firefox also needs the movie name specified via a data attribute in the object tag instead of via the param tag. With those changes applied you should see the Flash animations (works for me).
    <pre><nowiki><object data="http://www.residentadvisor.net/flash/dj-widget/dj.swf"
    type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="390" height="454"></nowiki></pre>

    Was the message sent from Microsoft Outlook? When you embed an image in a message in Outlook (at least up to version 2003), it creates a hidden attachment for the image and then inserts a "cid" reference to it. If the attachment gets stripped for any reason then the "cid" reference is useless: Outlook does not store the original URL or path to the image.
    Edit: By the way, which webmail site has this problem?

  • Firefox does not show full websites

    Suddenly, Firefox does not show complete websites. IE does just fine.
    Here's sample:
    http://i40.tinypic.com/lboxv.jpg
    What do we do? Some sites show fine, some like this - a list view, or whatever. And it's not online issue, as like I said - IE shows same sites just fine.

    Hello ukrkoz, if you have the same issue again try to clear cookies and cache. Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
    Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
    Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.

    Just for clarity, "we" haven't taken your money - this is a user-to-user forum, and you're not talking to Adobe.
    Like Rob I'm a Windows user, and - like him - I thought "uninstalling" on Macs was simply a case of trashing the application. Google would seem to concur.
    Not really a Lightroom/Adobe issue, then?

  • Whenever I shop thru Amazon, Firefox does not show ANY pictures of the products I'm trying to buy. Ever. But, IE works just fine. What can be done to fix this?

    OS=Windows7.
    There must be an easy setting somewhere that I'm missing, because my wife's laptop works when she shops on Amazon and she's using Firefox with Win7, as well. On my PC however, (IE) works just fine, but Firefox will not show images of the products I want to buy.

  • After installing or upgrading to Firefox 31, starting Firefox does not show homepage, customize shows a blank page and the option button does not work

    I am the Windows admin for a university department and install PCs with Firefox all the time. This problem does not happen with every PC I maintain, only a select few (different model laptops with Windows 8.1 and update 1.) Until today, it only happened with new user accounts (with admin rights) that I setup on the laptops for our staff. Today this happened with The Administrator account while setting up a new laptop. In all cases so far, I install Windows from a saved image that was created using sysprep.
    I have tried the many suggestions of resetting Firefox, deleting the users Firefox profile, deleting the users Windows profile, uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox, uninstalling/reinstalling Firefox and the latest Java, but nothing helps. After uninstalling, I run an app to delete temp files and caches and will even manually remove registry keys HKLM\SOFTWARE\Mozilla and HKCU\SOFTWARE\Mozilla. Plus I reboot and make sure the install folder is deleted after uninstall.
    Results are the same: after installing Firefox 31, the initial setup window for migrating IE and/or Chrome pops up and after clicking the Finish button, Firefox starts, but does not show the initial new user page, only a blank page. Clicking on the Options button (3 bars) does nothing. Right-clicking in the proper area, the popup menu appears so I can choose to Customize, but that only opens another tab with about:customize in the URL and the page is blank. From the right-click popup menu, I can enable the Menu Bar and get to Options from that.
    My latest attempt has helped a little. I uninstalled Firefox 31, cleaned up, deleted user Firefox profile, rebooted and then installed Firefox 30. Inital startup runs, and tells me I'm not up to date, and the Options button works. But I still cannot customize.
    I then upgraded to Firefox 31, but then it's back to no startup page, no options button and no customize. I can downgrade to 30 and get all but customize working again.
    Only Addon is one for McAfee Scriptscan for Firefox 15.1.0, which just after installing is disabled.
    Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Ok. I disabled hardware acceleration. The only extension is the McAfee Scriptscan for Firefox 15.1.0, which was already disabled. I then disabled all plugins (Acrobat, Google Update, Intel Identity Protection (2x), Java Deployment Toolkit, Java Platform, MS Office 2013, Quicktime, Shockwave, Silverlight), which were all up to date.
    Normal or safe mode still has same result. No startup, no option button and no customize.
    Thanks for your help. Got any other suggestions?

  • IDM 8.1 with firefox does not show all GUI items

    Hi,
    we are running IDM 8.1 Patch_5 on Solaris 10. We have 2 instances, Prod & UAT. UAT runs from Tomcat 5, Prod uses Sun Appserver 8.
    But our problem seems to be the Web Client.
    When We lookup a user and then open the tabs for them, for example "Security" Firefox is not showing the
    little boxes that allow you to allocate attributes etc. Instead, we just get the form title and then a blank line.
    I did some reading and noted that there were some Java issues with IDM and Java and Firefox but I cannot apply
    the workaround. I also tried the edit of Waveset.properties and adjusting the baseHref as suggested elsewhere but this
    also does not work.
    We are using Firefox Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS sun4u; en-US; rv:1.9.2.6) Gecko/20100627 Firefox/3.6.6
    As you can see this is a SPARC desktop!
    Also Java was tried with v1.5_16 and now currently jdk1.6.0_07.
    Can anyone please assist? This is rather urgent. I will be trying my Mac at home tonight, but we need something
    that works now! Interestingly, this is the first time I have seen this problem. It may be related to Firefox, but I tried using Opera as well
    with the same result.
    Please assist!

    Hi,
    thanks for the information. I doubt we will be modifying the base code of IDM in this way. I am a bit disappointed that a
    Sun product, running on a Sun desktop has this issue, but I think it more of a synergy between Java and Firefox, although
    Opera was basically broken the same way, too.
    Our workaround for now, is to have a separate install of Firefox, which is 3.0.3 and Java 1.5.0_16, which we know work
    and run this as a parallel browser, with a symlink to it as "firefox-idm". This is OK, but not really that good.
    Interestingly, IDM 8.1 displays perfectly on Snow Leopard and G5 Leopard using Firefox 3.6.6 and Java 1.6 on
    Snow Leopard and with Java 1.5 on the G5 release.
    We are thinking of apply IDM patches, but are reticent to do so, if they break any existing functionality......
    Cheers
    rachel

  • When posting to a forum the new version of Firefox does not show the post. When I start up IE and go to the forum there is the post. However Firefox 4 will not show the post. How can I fix this issue?

    Recently I upgraded to Firefox 4. I frequent various forums where I post advise on various subjects. I am finding that version 4 is showing the threads in the forums, allowing me to log in and to post. However the posts as sent in are not coming up at all, even if I get out and return, the page is not "refreshed."

    this is a follow up from the profane post earlier....
    i have done this twice in two other posts..
    here is my problem.. i started off trying to update itunes, it failed twice and said i needed to install manually via tools.
    the only place to get to tools is the pop up box that appears when you click check for updates.. if there is an available update then the pop up shows up with the quick time and itunes files to download. so i finally figured that out. i clicked on tools and manual update, four files were saved to a file. Apple mobile device support, another one similar, itunes, and another one i cant remember. I only downloaded the itunes file seeing as though thats all i needed to accomplish in the first place.
    so then i restarted my computer bc you need to reboot and then reopen itunes for update to take effect. once i have itunes back open i plugged in my new 5s which i am trying to sync to my computer to get all my stuff back bc i lost my previous phone over the weekend.. once i plugged the phone in an error stating i needed to unistall the apple mobile device support and itunes and then reinstall. well i dont know where those files were originally stored on my computer AND since my itunes was updated, just not the other 3 associated files, when i click check for updates it says its up to date and then pop up containing the quick time and itunes does not pop up thus i cant get back to the tools tab to manually save the 4 files again.
    so i was just going to uninstall itunes all together and then i thought well what happens if it erases all my photos apps songs etc... which would defeat the whole purpose in the first place of me trying to sync my new phone to get all my stuff back.
    so i literally have no idea what to do at this point.. if you have read this you are probably just as confused as me...

  • Firefox does not show filesystem or FTP file list

    When I type "/"  or "file:///" in the address bar it does not show anything. It should list my the folders in my root drive but it shows nothing. Strangely this is the same for any FTP file server I go to. It shows nothing but claims to be loaded. I think something in Firefox is missing.

    I cleared the cookies and that might have done it. Comment if you have or had this problem.
