I want to unsync/transfer my old ipod's data to a different computer. HELP!!

I gave my mom my old ipod nano but it's still synced to my computer. I want to unsync the ipod from my computer and sync it to my mom's laptop. Am I able to do that?  If so, how?

Hello JMS Smith,
If your trying to move the media form the ipod to the new computer, I would use this instead:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and ...
or
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
Once you get your music moved over, all you have to do is connect the ipod and when you get a message pop up on the screen, Click erase and sync.
Or you can try this:

Hope this helps.

  • HT1351 How do i get my music from my old ipod  that is on a different computer, onto my iphone 4s which has its music on  different computer

I have an iphone 4s i have its music on a different computer because we bought a new one. (it is not a mac) I want to transfer all my music from my old ipod (3rd generation) onto my iphone but its music is stored on a different computer, both devices are under the same apple id. Is there any possible way of getting my music from my ipod on my iphone.

If they are purchased music from iTunes, just re-download again on your new computer.
Go to the iTunes Store and select "Purchased" from the Quick Links side bar on the right. Go through all the tabs to download again for free

  • Old iPOD to new iTunes on new computer to new nano.  Is this possible

I have an old iPOD and I have a new nano and new computer.   I want to get music from old iPOD to new iTunes on new computer to new nano.  Is this possible

Yes.  You'll want to copy all the content from the older iPod back to your new iTunes library first.  Once you have successfully copied and stored all of this content in your new iTunes library, you can set it up to sync to your new Nano.

  • Need to sync Apps from old Ipod to new Iphone on different computers

I have apps on my old Ipod touch that I want to put on my new Iphone. My Ipod is synched to my PC, but I want to sync my new Iphone to my Macbook Pro. I also want to put the old apps on my Ipod and put them on my Iphone. What should I do?

Sign into the Apple ID used to purchase them on you iPhone (in Settings>Store), then download the apps as past purchases directly to the phone (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).  Prior to syncing with your MacBook Pro, disable automatic syncing in iTunes (iTunes Preferences, on the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically").  Then connect your phone and when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar, right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases (to transfer the apps to your iTunes library).  You will also need to authorize your computer for this Apple ID in iTunes (under Store>Authorize this computer) in order to sync these apps to your phone.

  • My ipod was stolen, just bought a new one, trying to download to my new computer using my old account. I have lots of bought music on old account, but because my old ipod isnt registered to me new computer, I cant. Solutions?

My ipod was stole. When i tried to register my new ipod to this account it alloud it, but when I tried to download my old music to the new computer it says i cant because i didnt approve it, (along those lines.) Because my old ipod was stolen I cant approve it to get my old music. Does this mean i purchased all those songs just to lose then? there has to be a way to get to download my songs, Im just not sure how. Any answers?

For anyone with the same question, in itunes its at the topleft under store, push the authorize this computer section. yes it was that easy.

  • Download old iPod touch date into new iPod touch through iTunes

How do you download old iPod data into new a new iPod?

Simply connect the new iPod to the same computer that was used to sync the old iPod.  iTunes will know the difference and will assign a unique name (which you can change if you wish).

  • Ipod touch 2nd gen. and different Computer.

Hello, I just found my old ipod touch 2nd generation, I plugged it on my mac (not the main pc of the ipod) and it says that there's a new update is availlable. If a accept to load the update, does my ipod will sync with my Iphone's library that's on my mac?? 'Cause there is some music I would like to keep and those songs aren't on my mac!
Don't know if you understood but thanks for helping me if you do!

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

  • PLEASE HELP-HOW DOES A LOADED IPOD GET INTRODUCED TO A DIFFERENT COMPUTER

without losing the music on it? What has to happen, how, and when does it have to happen. I sold my IPOD and the new owner does not want to lose any of the music. People have written in that it can be done and it cant be done? please help. Jeff

I have found that the format that the ipod is originally introduced to is the only format that will recognize the ipod. So if you format your ipod on a mac when you first get it, only other mac computers will recognize it and not windows computers. However, if you introduced it to a windows computer first, the ipod can be recognized by any machine. This is what my previous experiences shows. If you want the ipod to be recognized by any computer, you must restore the ipod and format it to windows or whichever computer the owner has (this will result in the loss of music and other files). Sorry.
    Hope this Helps!

  • HT1222 update ipod touch software on a different computer

My internet connection is slow. Can I upgrade my ipod touch on a different computer that I don't normally connect to?

Plug it in and sync it.  it will erase the current content and replace with content of the new computer.
You need to copy everything from the old computer, or your backup copy of the old computer, to the new one.
