I want to update my imac software to a version that uploads the icloud icon in preferences. Which version do I need and how do I force my imac to update that software.
I am currently running OSX 10.6.8. this version does not have the icloud icon in system preferences. How do I do a forced software update to a version that allows icloud operations. To qualify I have done a number of software updates using the software update dropdown but it does not find the most recent software like mountain Lion or Mavericks etc. Why? surely if I am asking the computer to find the most recent software it would tel me that I am running an out of date software level?

When you run Software Updates from the Apple Menu, it looks for software to update for your current operating system. The first version of Mac OS X to have iCloud functionality built into the System Preferences was Mac OS X Lion 10.7. The current version of Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10 is available in the Mac App Store that you can access from the Apple Menu and it is free. Please be sure to check the system requirements to make sure your computer can support the software before downloading and installing. The attached article contains that information and instructions for downloading and installing.

after updating from beta 9, to 10, to11, my desktop icon still says beta 9. The start menue has beta 10, and will not allow me to select open file location, which when accessing through programs(x86) is listed as beta 9. When checking uninstall programs, beta 11, is listed.

I did un-install and then re-install per the Adobe recommendations which are what you listed in your reply. The problem remained until I did a MS Windows restore to a restore point a month or so ago. The IE problems vanished. However, now I'm using an outdated and unsupported version that is lower than most of the web pages require for their sites, at least the ones I want to view (they all say I need to upgrade my Flash Player which, when I did, put me in this fix).

The built in email program does sound an alert for new messages.

You could set the iMac to go to sleep after non use. My Macs are
always sleeping when not in use, waking them up takes seconds.
Unlike windoze, never knew if it would be locked up or not.
5. Should I get the extended warranty? I'm usually
against them, but I am expecting this computer to
last me at least 3 years (for $1300 it better!)
before I upgrade, as I got that much out of a Dell
and from what I understand, Mac's do not age nearly
as fast as Windows pc's.
It is well worth the cost. Never know what might happen. Also
it is good insurance for future upgrades. I traded in my G4 tower
purchased two years ago for 75% of what I paid for it. Apple care
transfers, giving the buyer the remainder of your warranty.

When downloading uptodate software the icloud icon does not appear
trying to setup icloud on imac. i already have it on macbook and iphone. when load up to date software the icloud icon does not appear in setting.

I installed the latest version of icloud control panel (allegedly Windows 8 compatible) on my Windows 8 laptop. Installation successful, but on clicking on the icloud icon nothing happens. The same software worked on my Windows 7 PC.

(3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
(4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
(5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
Hi, I am going to buy a new iMac desktop. I am going for the 3.4GHz Quad-Core Intel i7, 16 GB RAM and 2TB ATA Drive. I want to know whether I should go for the dual drives option i.e including the 256 GB SSD. I do a lot of 'heavy' media work.
by looking at the specs the laptop is better but if your not a gamer or graphics designer then you most likly wont notice a difference in the performance at all so with that said a few downsides
the processor is i5 the i7 processor is the better processor the graphics card has half the dedicated memory that the laptop has and the hdd compared to the solid state is not much of a difference unless you wanna move your computer all the time you wont need a solid state drive
but like i said before if your not a gamer or graphics designer on your computer you will not notice the difference most likely -

You need an app that supports Powerpoint documents on your iPad e.g. Documents To Go (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/documents-to-go-office-suite/id317117961?mt=8 or the premium version http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/documents-to-go-premium-office/id317107309?mt=8). You will need to set it up as a new phone, not from a backup, first. Then, after setup is complete, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi and have at least 50% battery power. After then update downloads and installs, you can go to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
This will let you go through the setup again, and this time you can choose your backup. -

I have just updated the itunes software on my two older ipod touches. Now when I try to access itunes. all I get is the icloud icon and it spins endlessly so I never get to see my music library. I can see from my desktop that my music is still on the device. I just want to be able to access my music library. How can I get past the iclud icon?

I've tried and tried several times to Connect my device to my PC and follow the onscreen instructions in iTunes to download the update from Apple. Problem is iTunes doesn't connect to my iPad so that I can update to iOS 5. I don't see the iPad icon when iTunes loads. I have looked in my computer and see the iPad is recognized. Any one else having this problem? This is also happening with my iPod
