I want to upgrade my laptop ?

I want to upgrade my laptop 3000 C200 ( processor , Vega , cash memory )

Hi Phil:
Specifications
The top processor compatible is Intel Core i5-480M processor (2.66 GHz, SC turbo up to 2.93 GHz, 3 MB L3), Dual 35 W for your system board & chipset. For upgarding to the top 2nd generation processor - you have to get a new board as listed in the Manual : this may not be wise to do cost-wise. You may better buy a brand new laptop with better specs.
The 1GB dedicated AMD graphics is the best your model series can have.

I'm having problems with my internet since I have upgraded.  I am afraid to upgrade on my Macbook pro now.  I don't want the upgrade to slow down my laptops.  Any suggestions?

Wifi issues are one of the common issues being reported by users.  There is not much you can do at this point but wait and hope that th 10.8.1 update will address these issues.

No one here would have any information as to where the MacBook Pro was purchased.
Contact the person who gifted the Mac.

  • Hi,please suggest me some games for Compaq CQ62-105TU Laptop. Can I upgrade my laptop's graphics card

Hi,please suggest me some games for Compaq CQ62-105TU Laptop. Can I upgrade my laptop's graphics card

Unfortunately, you cannot upgrade the processor or graphics card on this laptop.
Here is a page from CPU-World that gives the specs for your processor:
    http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Bobcat/AMD-E%20Series%20E2-1800.html
You will see down near the bottom of the page that it is not upgradeable. Some laptops come with the processor soldered to the motherboard. Almost all laptop graphics are this way. The only way that you would be able to get a faster processor/better graphics for this laptop would be to purchase a brand new motherboard. You can do an Ebay search for 'HP G6 motherboard' to see what average prices are if you want to go this route.

    Hi,
The DC7800 SFF was not designed to run modern games.  Modern games for most situations would require a graphics card and a supporting power supply of 400-600 watts which is not available for your PC.  Another factor is the dimm speed in your PC which is inherently slow for video processing.

i want to upgrade my hp pavilion dv4000 having p/n EW874EA#ABV

Your options are extremely limited. Here is a list of the range of specs.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00642641&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
The big issue is the single core Pentium M (aka Centrino) processor, the max of 2 gigs of memory and the Intel GMA900 video which is not capable of Aero desktop effects.
This laptop was not capable of handling Windows Vista, let alone 7, 8, 8.1 and soon, Windows 10. There is just no amount of money you can put into it to make it useable in today's computing environment.
Sorry to have to carry bad news. Any new laptop, even one at the very bottom price point, will blow the dv4000 away.

i want to upgrade my macbook pro's ram from 4 to 6 or 8gb. mine is mid 2010 macbook pro..
    Configuration
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    4GB 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM - 2x2GB
    250GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    i am looking at

will i have any problem like compatibility??
    thank you.

A Mid 2010 MacBook Pro supports 16 GB of memory without any problem. Macs are "special" about memory because some brands work without any problem and others don't work. That's why I recommend you to buy the memory from OWC or Crucial in order to make sure that you get compatible memory > http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_MacBook_MacBook_Pro/Upgrade/DDR3

  • I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?

I've got a late 2009 mac mini with a 320gb hard drive and I want to upgrade it to a 1tb drive or bigger. What HDDs are compatible with my mini?
Because of the price I'm not interested in solid state drives, unless of course you want to send me $1,000.
I've already got external drives but I take my mini back and forth to work and don't want to carry those drives with me.
I'm not interested in buying a laptop. My mini works great so why waste $1,000 or more when I can buy a 1 to 3 TB hdd for under $300 and have exactly what I want. My late 2009 Mac Mini with a large hdd.
I went to Crucial's website and they can't tell me what drives fit my Mac Mini. That's where I got my ram (8GB). I'm ONLY interested in name brand quality HDDs.

The limiting factor in your 2009 mini is the max 9.5mm drive thickness.
One of the largest capacity 2.5" drives that meets this criteria is the HGST (formerly Hitachi) at 1.5GB
Any reputable SATA HDD you can find that is not thicker then this 9.5mm will work.

  • I have a 15' Macbook Pro, mid 2010 running Mavericks. I want to upgrade the hardware by increasing the RAM to 8GB and replacing the HD for a SDD one. What would be the best way to install mavericks on the new HD? I have the original OS X CD.

I have a 15' Macbook Pro, mid 2010 running Mavericks. I want to upgrade the hardware by increasing the RAM to 8GB and replacing the HD for a SDD one. What would be the best way to install mavericks on the new HD? I have the original OS X CD.
From what I read, I have 2 choices: 1. to install OSX and then upgrade to Mavericks, but I'm not sure if this would be possible (to upgrade directly from OSX to Mavericks); and 2. to use a software called Super Duper.
I wouldn't like to have to use a third party software to do this, so the question is: is there a better way to install directly the Mavericks not having to use a third party software?

Install the new drive in the computer.
Install the old drive in an external USB or Firewire enclosure.
Boot the computer from the Recovery HD on the external drive.
Use Disk Utility to partition and format the new internal drive.
Clone your external drive to the internal drive.
How to replace or upgrade a drive in a laptop
Step One: Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger, Leopard or Snow Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Step Two: Remove the old drive and install the new drive.  Place the old drive in an external USB enclosure.  You can buy one at OWC who is also a good vendor for drives.
Step Three: Boot from the Recovery HD on the external drive.  Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager appears.  Select the icon for the Recovery HD then click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Step Four: New Hard Drive Preparation
      1. Open Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
      2. After DU loads select your new hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of
the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive
is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  Otherwise, click on the
Partition tab in the DU main window.
      3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from
the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended
(Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to
GUID  then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and
wait until the process has completed.
      4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the
drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main
          window.
      5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the
Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to
          return to the Erase window.
      6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several
hours depending upon the drive size.
Step Five: Clone the old drive to the new drive
      1. Using Disk Utility still opened.
      2. Select the destination volume from the left side list.
      3. Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
      4. Check the box labeled Erase destination.
      5. Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Destination entry field.
      6. Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the
          Source entry field.
      7. Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the new internal drive. Source means the old external drive.
Step Six: Open the Startup Disk preferences and select the new internal volume.  Click on the Restart button.  You should boot from the new drive.  Eject the external drive and disconnect it from the computer.

  • I want to upgrade iMac to Snow Leopard, can I use the (DVD-Mac OS X 10.6.3) that I got with the 15" MacBook Pro that totally died, and upgrade iMac from that DVD

I want to upgrade my iMac to Snow Leopard, can I use the (DVD-Mac OS X 10.6.3) that I got with my purchase of the 15" MacBook Pro that totally died, and upgrade the iMac from that DVD that came with the laptop ?   Thanks

No, that 10.6.3 DVD is system specific to the MacBook Pro.
You need a Snow Leopard Upgrade > Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard - Apple Store (U.S.)

  • HT201364 Hello, I want to upgrade to OS X Mavericks but it keeps telling me to free up space on my start up disk.  I deleted many files and i still cannot download it.  What do I do delete everything?

Hello, I want to upgrade to OS X Mavericks but it keeps telling me to free up space on my start up disk.  I deleted many files and I still cannot download it.  What do I do delete everything?  I do not even know how to check for available space on my laptop...I know, I know.  Anyone help me out if you can =)

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion/Mavericks' Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.
You need at least 12 GBs of free space to install Mavericks plus another 6 GBs for the download.
Select your HDD icon. Press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. In the upper most panel you will see the information displayed: Capacity, Available, and Used. You want to know what's Available.

Short answer No. That laptop isn't a gaming laptop nor any upgrades you do to it will make it perform any higher. If you want to game on laptop you will have to spend upwards of 2,000US for a gaming laptop and those come with a cost besides the cost to buy but the weight comes into play as well.

  • I have a WRT54G2 router, want to upgrade my Desktop to VISTA, anything I need to prepare.

First, thanks for any help in advance. Second, please no "Don't bother with Vista/Vista sucks/Wait until Windows 7 etc"
I know all that but I have my reasons lol!
OK, I have a Desktop with XP Pro SP3 and a Laptop with Windows 7 RC build 7100. Both are working great with my WRT54G2  wireless router, I can share files between them and Network Magic is working great on both machines. Of course my Desktop is connected by direct cable (From Cable Modem to Router to Desktop) while my Laptop is connected to the router wirelessly.
I want to "upgrade" my Desktop from XP Pro SP3 to Vista Ultimate Edition. Now, I would hope that re-installing Network Magic I assume I will have to re-add my Desktop? How do I import my current network setting to the new OS? What are the steps I need to take in order to have the same setup with as little problems as possible?
The fact that I currently have both setup and running great is pretty much the limit (maybe I had a bit of luck?) of my Router setup knowledge so please any replies in simple terms would be appreciated. If their is already a thread or info regarding this topic I apologize as I could not find it but would greatly appreciate if you could direct me accordingly. THANKS AGAIN!

After upgrading your operating System to Windows7...Install the Network Magic step by step on your Computer.
Now,Launch Network Magic by clicking the Network Magic icon located on the desktop.Once the Cisco Network Magic window appears, click the Tasks button on the top of the screen. When the Network Tasks screen appears, select Add a Device. When the Add a Device window will appears, you can select Computer or Other device.Next, select whether the new device is using a wired or wireless connection.Make sure the computer is properly connected to the router. Once connected, click Next to continue. Once the device you wanted to add is found, click Finish to complete the installation.
