I want to upgrade my memory?
I want to upgrade my memory to the full 16gb. I now have 4. Is it okay if I buy 1 8gb stick and 1 4gb stick to make it 16gb? Or does all of it have to be the same?
It probably would work, but that will only get you 12 GB however this will ONLY work work on a 2010 or 2011 iMac. The 2009 iMacs will not accept 8GB DIMMS. A 8GB DIMM is currently selling for about $700 USD, were you aware of that?
Assuming your machine is a 2010 or 2011 iMac and you want to get to 16GB with the existing (2 x 2GB) in theory you could upgrade to 16 GB with those, a 4GB DIMM & a 8GB DIMM. If that is your intention I would STRONGLY recommend you contact OWC (either by phone or chat session) and inquire. I've never heard of anyone using that route to get to 16GB before so honestly I don't know if it would work or not.

The Mid 2011 Mac mini supports 8 GB of memory officially, but you can install up to 16 GB of RAM, so you can use 2, 4 and 8 GB modules. You can buy more RAM from OWC or Crucial.

I want to upgrade the memory for my iMac, but there is no memory available for any of the iMac models on the Apple store. I got an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2.4 GHz. I purchased it over 5 years ago, and the tecnical support expired. Can anybody tell me where I can purchase additional memory?

I purchased my MacBook Pro in late 2007, just before Leopard was released. I want to upgrade my memory and need to know if DDR2-667 SoDimm PC2-5300 is the correct type.
If you have to wonder which RAM is the correct type, you probably aren't buying from a store that will give you the right RAM. Many stores specify model and vintage of Mac on their website to ensure you get the right RAM. Check my FAQ*:

T400s memory upgrade - right memory?
Hi,
I would like to ask you for advice. I have T400s 2808-DEG with 4GB of memory (2*2GB). I would like to upgrade from win7 32bit to 64bit and that's why I want to upgrade my memory from 4GB to 8GB as well. Even if I found in tech specs here which memory should be compatible (which aspects have to be right - DDR3, 1066 MHz) and I found memory kit here that should be working I am still just amateur. So, do you think this will be working ok for me?

It looks like you have got an Early 2011 or newer MacBook Pro, so you can use 16 GB of RAM. You can buy more RAM at OWC or Crucial. Remember that you cannot upgrade RAM in MacBooks Pro with Retina display
In case you have got a Mid 2010 MacBook Pro, you can only install 8 GB of RAM -

You are confusing RAM (Ramdom Access Memory) with hard drive storage space.
You need to install more RAM, not an additonal hard drive.
You can purchase an external hard drive, if you like, if you want to install the new OS X upgrade onto an external drive. If you want to run the new OS X Mavericks from the external drive, depending on your Mac model, you need a fast protocol external hard drive.
Either a USB 3.0, Thunderbolt or FireWire 800 connected external hard drive.
To start, if you are running your Mac on 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, this is the barest of RAM to run Snow Leopard.
Without knowing any of your Macs specs, you realistically should be running your current OS with, at least 4 GBs of RAM.
Newer versions of OS X need, at least, 4 GBs of RAM or more as these newer OS X versions use more Mac computer resources than earlier OS X versions.
What year, screen size, CPU speed and amount of RAM installed in your Mac?
Be aware, if your Mac is running any older software that used to run under older PowerPC model Macs, those software apps will no longer will work under newer versions of OS X.
The emulation software that allows older PowerPC apps to run under OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, called, Rosetta, no longer exists in newer versions of OS X and is long dead.
Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).

I want to upgrade from 16gb to 32 for my imac 27", release date Sept 2013. I've been reading about Crucial memory problems with random restarts and kernal panic notices as late as today on the Crucial website. Any tips on a third party memory brand that is least problematic?
I personally would steer clear of the others listedi n Baby Boomers link. Not because they may or maynot be good I am just not familiar with them.

For the record, I have been using Ramseeker website since 1999. Not once have I ever had a problem w/any of their RAM.

First of all, as a rule you should have two backups before you do anything else. (most don't, and it's up to you).
I would have one backup done as a Time Machine backup on an external disk, which you will use to import all settings, data and apps to your new MBA via Setup Assistant on your very first boot of the new machine.
Second, I would have prepared, a bootable backup done via Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper on a second external disk. This you can use for unforseen problems that might be evident on the Time Machine backup (hey it happens).
After you have these two items in preparation, then use the original system disk or flash drive to reformat and reinstall the original operating system to the old machine, cleanly. After that, it is ready for sale. If the unit is not an SSD equipped MBA, you can perform a secure wiping of the disk when you perform the reformatting.
To reiterate.... You need a good Time Machine Backup as a source for you setting up the new Mac with Setup Assistant. -
