I want to upgrade the software for my ipad.
i have tried to upgrade the software on my ipad. i am getting a message that there is not enough memory on this computer. i can only imagine it means on drive C, as they are right thereis not enough memory on drive C. there is however more than enough on the other two drives. is there some way of telling the upgrade program to use a different drive. i have tried to re-install itunes on drive D, but i am getting an error message that the file : 179708-17969.msi is missing in the temp folder and the install aborts. can any one please help

Then you either have a network problem or a hardware problem or a corrupted hard drive. You might try:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
You can also try downloading from another computer on a different network connection. -

-Make sure that the Internet connection is good. If the update process is interrupted it might be due to loss of Internet connection.
-Try using another USB cable and usb port in your computer.
-Try using another PC.
-Temporary disable any firewalls and or antivirus software.
-Start your PC in “Safe mode with networking” mode. This is done by pressing F8 during PC boot. When Windows is started in safe mode, try taking the update again. -
Recently I wanted to upgrade the IOS for my iphone 4 following the guidelines closely with my friend's help. Unfortunately, we are unable to do so. Regards/Michelle GeeYou are following the wrong guidelines. The Software Update option was not introduced until a later version. You need to connect to iTunes to update if you currently have iOS 4 or earlier.

If your phone isn't being recognized by your computer, you need to follow the steps in this article to resolve that
Also, some basic isolation needs to be done. Does it show up in itunes on any other computers? do you have other cords you can test with to see if it might be the cord? if the phone doesn't show up on any computers, it's likely your phone has a hardware issue

Now the iPad had a black screen with the Apple symbol and the processing symbol going around and around. When I tried to re connect it to iTunes is says "cannot connect to this iPhone due to error". Anything seems to help to my problem with the QuickTime installation error (code 3 when installed with iTunes and code 1402 and 1603 when updated separately), even I have tried all the tricks and steps found on this forum to the same error codes.
So, my error messages 1402 relates to the hkeylocalmachines/software/classes/QuickTime.gt/DefaultIcon - I have all the possible rights to my pc, but still anything can't be done with this in Regedit. I can't open the Quictime.gt at all nor check rights,as it's not opening.
When I cleaned my pc, with the guidance found here, of all the files left after removing the softwares I noticed that in Regedit there is lot of files directly under Classes named with QuickTime* - should those removed as well?

ps. eveything worked ok with the old iTunes and QuickTime, so this upgrade was very bad thing to doWhen QT7 first came out, I ran into the same problem you are having. What I did was remove QT using the add/remove control panel, then did a search for all files all folders that were left behind and deleted them as well.
Next I went into the registry. HKEYLOCALMACHINE+Software and deleted Apple Computer,Inc. I then went to the Edit menu of the registry, selected Find and type in QuickTime. To locate registry entree's left behind.
After selecting Find from the Edit menu of the registry and type in QuickTime, you then hit the enter key on the keyboard. When a QT entree appears you delete it. You then hit the F3 key on the keyboard, which locates the next key. You keep repeting this process untill you have deleted all QT. There are many.
Once I had everything related to QT completely removed from the computer, I then ran.

The registry is risky to go into if a mistake is made it could involve re-installing the OS, so you may want to back it up, if you can count on that. Some people have used this link and claimed good results.

While the upgrade to ios6 went on smoothly for my iPhone 4 and my iPads, while upgrading the iPhone 3GS, I came across this error message. Can some one help me how to get this sorted out ?Now the phone shows that I should connect it to my computer through USB although it remains connected and the error message comes only after the phone is connected and it tries to extract the software and update.

ONLY the carrier it is locked to can authorize unlocking it. Anything else is a hack.
If it was hacked/jailbroken to unlock it, you can't get help here per the terms of service. It is most likely now bricked. -
