I want to upgrade to lion server but I need to install version 10.7 first?. Were do I find 10.7?
I have a mac mini server currently with OSx 10.6.8. I want to upgrade to lion server but am told I need to install version 10.7 first?
Went to app store, cant find version 10.7. can anyone help me locate where I download server version 10.7?
The current version of Server on the MacApp Store has been updated
to 2.0 and requires Mountain Lion (OSX 10.8). You could just
upgrade to Mountain Lion. With the exception of some new features,
it is in reality an improvement to Lion. The upgrade is cheaper as well.
If your Mini Server can be updated to it, you might as well just go with
Mountain Lion.
You do realize that the OS and server are two seperate entities now?

I am running Leopard OS X 10.5.8. I want to upgrade to Lion. Do I need to download Snoe Leopard first?
ThanksI cannot make that determination for you. Snow Leopard is not available as a download. You have to purchase it at an Apple Store or order it online. Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or later is required to purchase and download Lion from the App Store. Total cost would be $59.00 exclusive of tax and shipping (if any.)
Sometime this month Apple plans to make available a USB flash drive containing the full standalone Lion installe for $69.00. If you did not want Snow Leopard then you may want to wait for this to be available. -
I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram. Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion? What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible? Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense? I have an Epson R2000 printer. Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion? It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.
Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
Adobe lists these requirements:
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine. -
My backup external hard drive hasn't work since I insalled Snow Leopard. Bad:( I am still learning about my MAC and would just like to re-format the hard dive and set everything up again. I want to upgrade to Lion but can't untill I backup what I.

I want to upgrade to Lion but hav ebeentold I can't because I have a G5 non intel based system. If this is true can I change the motherboard and install Lion
If you are running Snow Leopard OS 10.6 you do not have a PPC Mac as they cannot run it, so you already have an Intel Mac. The question is, which one?
Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, runing the latest version of Snow Leopard. The Lion upgrade can be installed on all your authorized personal Macs.
But in any case you cannot replace the motherboard with a different one in any Mac. -
I want to upgrade to lion, but I am currently running leopard 10.5.8. What do I have to do to upgrade?

Yes I meet the system requirements
OK...
Contact Apple in your Country to Purchase a Snow Leopard Disc...
And the Download Code for Lion...
http://support.apple.com/kb/HE57
After the Successful Install of SL... Run Software Update and Update Snow Leopard to 10.6.8...
Next go to the Mac App Store and Purchase Lion... Using your Download Code...
BUT...
Before attempting any Major Upgrade... get yourself an External Hard Drive... and create a Bootable Clone Backup of your current Hard Drive...
By far the easiest way to make such a Backup, is to use something like
SuperDuper http://www.shirt-pocket.com/
or CCC http://www.bombich.com/
That way, should anything untoward happen during the Upgrade,
You will NOT LOSE ANYTHING.
(Get an EHD that is at least equal to your current Drive...)
You will also need more RAM... Get the Maximum you can for your Mac...
It is important to get the Correct and Matching RAM
See Here > OWC RAM > http://www.macsales.com/
Lastly... with regards to Lion...
Check here for compatibility of 3rd party Software you may be using...

I bought my macbook pro in march 2007. I am currently running osx 10.6.8, but want to upgrade to lion or mtn lion. Apple website says i need a mid 2007 or later macbook pro, how do I tell if my Macbook pro will support this upgrade?
The Mid-2007 model didn't come out until June 2007, so you must have bought an earlier model. It won't run Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8.x), but it might run Lion (10.7.x) if you can get hold of a copy, depending on which earlier model it is.
Lion requires at least a Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The first MacBook Pros came out in January 2006, but they had "Core Duo" processors (no "2"). The Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros came out in October 2006. You could have bought either in March 2007. -
i bought a mac book pro and apple promised upgradation to lion aosx but yet nothing rcvd , want to ask how much time it takes for them to send me the code to download it (now its more than a week i purchased this mac)

TS4058 Why has iChat been taken from me? I don't want to upgrade to Lion!
Why has iChat been taken from me? I don't want to upgrade to Lion!
Hi,
iChat 5.x.x works in Snow Leopard.
(Older versions also work in earlier OS versions)
iChat 4 and iChat 5 had a method of getting to a registration page for @mac.com names.
The iChat version no longer does this (but the registration page still exists)
In addition to this if you selected AIM then the option does not work now as AIM moved their Registration pages soon after Snow Leopard came out.
@mac.com registration page
Keep the password to 16 characters or less (AIM server limit)
You cannot use an email that has already been used with or is an Apple ID.
AIM registration Page
You cannot exceed the 16 character limit here
You need an email for Confirmation and for Password recovery (You can use it again and again if you want to set up loads of names)
You can chose a Name or use an existing email.
iChat can also use Jabber IDs
Google Mail IDs can have Talk enabled in their Google Account settings and then it can be used in iChat
Facebook have a Chat option that needs enabling.
Both use Jabber servers and your ID with them is a Valid Jabber name.
There are lots of other Public Jabber servers.

Maybe they've pulled Lion temporarily in order to clear server bandwidth for the expected feeding frenzy over ML?
There's always that possibility but I suspect that any Lion purchases today will be just a drop in the bucket. Still, there really ought to be some provision for those whose Macs can't go beyond Lion to upgrade since continued Snow Leopard support is now in question (the reason I finally moved to Lion).
There are a lot of people complaining that their free upgrade redeem codes for ML aren't working so I bet keeping Lion available is way down on Apple's to-do list. -
I have a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard OS 10.6.8 but want to upgrade to Lion. My Mac that has an Intel Core Duo Processor (I know really outdated huh) but to upgrade to Lion OS X I need an Intel Core2 Duo. Can I upgrade or will it mess it up?
It actually shouldn't allow you to upgrade. Your configuration should be detected and then it should reject your attempt to upgrade.

I'm a new user of an iPad. Before my PC had iTunes (it does now), I loaded Aps from from the iStore using my daughter's PC with my iPad cable-connected. I indicated my email address and Apple password--not hers and paid for these Aps--receipts arrived via my email. Now I want to upgrade to 5.1 but the Aps now loaded on my iPad do not show up on my PC iTunes library. When I click 'Upgrade' I get a warning message that says all Aps currently on the iPad will be obliterated in the process which of course I don't want to have happen because they're not showing up on my PC which presumably means my PC is not aware of what's on my iPad. Do I have to buy these same Aps again to keep them if I'm going to upgrade to 5.1, and how do I get my iTunes on my PC to back up the Aps currently loaded onto my iPad?
You should be able to copy the apps (and any other iTunes purchases) over to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. And as long as apps remain available in the store, and you use the same iTunes account as you originally used to purchase them, you should be able to re-download them in the future : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
If you are already on iOS 5+ on your iPad then you should be able to update the iPad directly on the iPad via Settings > General > Software Update . -
I am trying to allow guests on windows to connect to shares on my Lion server but it keeps asking for a password for guest. I have allow guest users to access this share enabled but it still does not work.
Ditto. Guest accounts shouldn't have a password. No way to enter one in System Prefs...

Is there a way to reference a variable name by the value of a String?
I realize my title may not be expressing the question accurately so... In perl I can do this: $varname = "nIterations"; ${$varname} = 27; which is the same thing as $nIterations = 27; Is there a way to do this in Java? eg I want something like String
