I want to use Bootcamp for Windows 7. Need Help

I want to install Windows 7 onto my Macbook Pro using Leopard software.
I go to Utilities and run Boot Camp Support Software. When I get to the "Download Windows Support Software" I click on "Download the Windows support software for this Mac." When I do, it comes back unable to download the software.
What am I doing wrong, or what other step can I take to download this support software?
Thanks for any help.

You always need drivers for a computer.
And after Windows is installed, you have to run Setup.exe off your OS X DVD.
Apple has so far failed to provide pre-install drivers except for MacBook Air. And that is what is being referred to - the pre-install part is totally borked.

  • Using Bootcamp for Windows XP Installation

Forgive the irony of asking this question on an Apple forum. I'm planning to use Bootcamp to install Windows XP on my MBP. I have a legitimate WinXP SP2 license currently installed on a desktop PC that I plan to decommission. How do I deauthorize the WinXP installation on my desktop PC? I believe I need to do this before installing the WinXP license on another computer (including a Mac).
Microsoft has been less than helpful with this question. Unfortunately, I need WinXP for one or two applications.
    Thanks for any help!

If the XP install was some time ago, the normal activation may work and you'll not need to call.
I forget the time limit but Microsoft only keeps x number of days the activation information for your computer. This was done as a compromise because of fears that M$ was collecting and holding that information for other purposes.

  • Ny ipod nano doesn't have a run screen on the fitness setting...and I want to use it for my workouts. Help!

I bought my ipod nano today and I downloaded the user manual.  It says that in order to use it for workouts all I need to do is calibrate it for height and weight...however, there is only a pedometer setting and no run setting. Why is this? Can anyone help??

Connect your Nano to iTunes, click the update button on the summary screen. Once that is done, you will get what you expect.

  • Have Linux Firefox 3.6 Profile. Want to use this for Windows pc

    Hello,
I have Firefox 3.6.8 in Linux.
I have a fresh install of Windows 7 on another PC. I am going to install Firefox onto that machine. But would like the data from the profile stored on my Linux machine. Especially the stored passwords.
Can I "copy" the Firefox 3.6.8 profile from the Linux machine and "paste" it into my Windows 7 machine?
    Thank you.

You can copy some of the files from the Linux profile to the Windows profile. For details of the files to copy, see the "Suggested profile contents to transfer" section of [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox Transferring data to a new profile - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]
As you will be using a different OS, do not copy mimeTypes.rdf

There are 3 methods which Tesserax explains here..
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3413
The key one being the one Apple designed for easy access, Back to My Mac.. which has been around the place for ages but was updated to iCloud some time ago.
She will need a Mac computer to use for the connection.. that is one limitation.. Another is the TC must be the main router in the network.
If you run into any other issues feel free to ask.. it is never the simple thing you expect because it is unlikely you are using a business account with a static IP.. ISP deliberately work to stop you doing this without paying for it.

  • Want to use ipad for work but need to measure foot candles??

Is there anytype of app for reading/measuring foot candles on the iPad? My job is interested in buying these for our fieldworkers but we need to know if theres a way we can measure foot candles.  I've searched all over the internet without finding anything and was really curious to see if I really hit a dead end. PLEASE HELP!!

I just downloaded Pocket Light Meter.  After I turn on the additional settings, I can see foot candles , however when I compare it to my actual light meter to check the validity of the Pocket Light Meter, they are way off.    Any idea how to calibrate it or to check if possibly I am doing something wrong??

  • Using Laptop for temporary workflow, need help!

Hi, I need some help.  New to LR, love it! I currently do all my work on my desktop, but I am buying a new one and need to take mine in to have files transferred etc.  In the meantime, I am a wedding photographer and we are in the middle of wedding season...so I thought I would just use my laptop as a temp workspace.  All my files, catalogs etc are alredy stored on an external hard drive.  I don't trust the computer drives for storing pics.  Anyway, so I thought I could just hook my ExtHD up to my laptop and it would be fine.  It does work to see all the original files....BUT any edits I made and stored in "collections" are not there.  The collection file folders are there, but they are empty.  What the heck!  I have to be able to use my laptop for a few days.  What do I do?  I read the section on syncing catalogs on two computers but it still didn't open my collections where all my edits are made.  Please help asap!  Thanks,  Kim

As you can see I am sitting right here waiting on someone to save the day for me!  ha ha
I don't understand.  The Catalog etc are already on my Ext Hard Drive.  I am so confused as to where I should put it.  Why can't I just open it from it's current location on my ext hard drive?  Thanks,

"At least 16 GB of free space on the disk onto which you’re installing for 32-bit, or 20 GB for 64-bit (for Microsoft Windows and Windows-based applications)."
That's what Apple proposes in here Boot Camp: System requirements for Microsoft Windows
Personally I would double these amounts and add to that the diskspace needed for your Windows games.

  • I want to use QuickBooks for my very snmall bussinesso the recommendation from my accountant was QuickBooks (Windows). I just do not understand enough to decide whether to buy QuickBooks for Apple or Windows and use it in the Parallels world?

I want to use QuickBooks for my very small bussiness, the recommendation from my accountant was QuickBooks (Windows). I just do not understand enough to decide whether to buy QuickBooks for Apple or Windows and use it in the Parallels world?

QuickBooks for Mac has been available again since at least 2004 (Intuit before that had done nothing with it for years). The current version is QB for Mac 2014. It's pretty much the same price no matter where you look.
The Mac version data is not directly compatible with the Windows version. Sending your data out to your business tax accountant and getting it back in is not at all easy. It's such a pain, our accountant comes here to finalize the books at year end.
There is still also a lot of Windows features for QB Pro which have never been added to the Mac version. They're all on the higher end side that larger businesses would need. I've never run into anything with the Mac version I couldn't do.
If your accountant wants ease of data transfer, then you'd be better off purchasing Snow Leopard Server and run that in Parallels. Then run the Windows version of QB in that.

  • I have an Apple pro wired keyboard that I want to use with a Windows PC.  It seems to recognize it through plug

I have an Apple pro wired keyboard that I want to use with a Windows PC.  It seems to recognize it through plug & play, but stops working after a few minutes.  Does anyone know of a fix to this situation?

    Hi,
Could you explain that again using different words ?
I am not clear on what it is that you want to do.
What are you trying to sync ?
    Contacts ?
    Emails ?
    Other info ?
If it is Mail who do you normally get it and what applications are you using ?
People also might want to know if it is a POP or IMAP account before they can help.

  • How to change  FAT to  NFTS for Windows 7  Boot Camp                                                                                  How to change Fat to NFTS on BootCamp for Windows 7

When I try to start BootCamp for Windows 7, I cannot change FAT to NTFS. I have created CDS for BootCamp upgrades 3.1 3.2 and 3.3.
Can't use them with Windows 7 disc in player. What to do?

Boot Camp creates a partition for you to install Windows into. Typically if you chose a size less than 32GB it will initially be FAT32, if bigger it will be NTFS. However what it is, is rather irrelevant. When you install Windows 7 it only allows using NTFS for a boot drive and it will automatically reformat that partition to NTFS if needed.
