I want to use iCloud to give my employees tasks

I need to give my employee a task while they are out of the office.
I was thinking I could use icloud to put events in the calender with phone numbers from address book.
Can you link ical with address book by adding contacts to ical in an event?
Am I making sense here?
If ical can't is there an app that does?
Thanks

I suppose you could add invitees to an appointment and not send the invitation, iCal can pull up the contact card from the address book by clicking on an invitee.
You might also consider using bento which integrates very well with address book and has a iCal task manager

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.
    Regards.

I want to use iCloud for every thing else except for Messages. I do not want to send an iMessage and receive it on both my iPhone and Mac.
    How do I do that?

    Howdy kingtonz,
If I understand you correctly, you want to limit to limit your use of the Messages application to non-iCloud sources such as text messaging through your phone carrier, is that right?
You can turn off the use of iMessages in Settings > Messages > iMessage. See this help article -

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Simple question:  I want to use iCloud as a back up disk for my documents folder.  How can I do this?  If I cannot do this, why am I paying for access to "the cloud?"

iCloud does not provide general file storage or backup, so you cannot back up your Documents folder using it. You will need to find a third-party alternative - this page examines some options (some are free):
    http://rfwilmut.net/missing3
iCloud at basic level, with 5GB is storage, is free: you only pay anything if you want to increase the storage space.

How can I sync my Microsoft Outlook tasks with my Ipad reminders? I dont want to use Icloud or an exchange

Plug it into your computer. Tell it to sync with "this computer" instead of iCloud. You shouldn't have to remove any apps. Otherwise, you can save the app data by using i-FunBox ( http://www.i-funbox.com/ ) just go to the "devices" tab and select 'user applications' and select all of your apps and tell iFunBox to "copy to pc" you're done! You have them all backed up.

  • I want to use iCloud as my mail instead of Hotmail or Outlook, but ...

I want to use iCloud as my mail instead of Hotmail or Outlook, but it's not working out, because I only get an error message that it is a problem with activating my e-mail.

If by "merge accounts" you mean merge iTunes accounts (using your Apple ID), then the answer is no.  If you bought songs, apps, etc. using both accounts over time, then your are stuck.  You need to choose one account for your iTunes.

  • Hi, i want to use icloud

hi, i want to use icloud but i do not have and icon in my system preferences.
how do i go about using icloud?

See this Apple note on using iCloud.
Lion is available only through the online Apple Store, which in the US is at 800-MY-APPLE. You buy a code that they email to you, then download it from the App store.
If you want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, you can do that through the App store. You'll need a late 2008 or newer MacBook Air to upgrade to Mountain Lion, and you don't need to go to Lion first. You can upgrade directly from OS X 10.6.8 to Mountain Lion.

  • Wanted to use Icloud to back up pictures and Itunes  - it is running os 10.6.4.  I have an original IPAD, nothing syncs without connecting.  Do I need to purchase operating system updates?  Wasn't sure what 10.6 Leopard is?

Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6, is not iCloud compatible.  You need to upgrade to Lion, Mac OS X 10.7, via a download from the app store...$29 (US), provided you had at least 10.6.6.  You can upgrade to 10.6.8 for free as part of the software updated function, then go to the app store and purchase the Lion download.
When you do that, before installing Lion, make a copy of the Lion Installer from the Applications folder where it downloads to some other location, such as your Documents folder, so you have a backup copy.
For Lion you must have at least an Intel Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7, or Xenon processor, 2 GB memory though 4 GB is better and 7 GB free space on the hard drive.
As part of 10.7.2 you end up with the iCloud connection.

  • I want to use icloud but i have a lot of music on itunes that has been downloaded from elsewhere on the internet. Will i be able to access this on icloud if it has not be bought through itunes?

I want to use icloud but i have a lot of music on itunes that has been downloaded from elsewhere on the internet. Will i be able to access this on icloud if it has not be bought through itunes?

Not on iCloud itself - what you need is 'iTunes Match' which seeks to find versions in the Store of songs you already have, and failing that allows you to upload your own copies. This will cost you $24.99 per year; it does not count towards your 5GB free iCloud space. Limit 25,000 songs (purchased songs do not count towards this limit). You will need iTunes 10.5.1 or later on your Mac or PC and iOS 5.0.1 or later on your iPhone 3GS or later, iPod touch (3rd and 4th generation), or iPad.
    Please see this page: http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
Also note that some people have found that when using this facility with songs which contain strong language, iTunes Match is substituting a cleaned-up version.

  • I want to  use iCloud  between iMac, iPhone and iPad

I want to  use iCloud. When I change a document on my iPad or iPhone, the new document appears on the iPad and iPhone but not on my mac. Also when I change it on my mac it does´t appears on the others. It does´t work automatically with my mac. What´s wrong. Can you help me, please?

On the iPad and iPhone tap Settings > iCloud

Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
On your iMac open System Preferences > iCloud
Deelect the box next to Documents & Data then reselect it then restart your iMac.
    Hopefully everything will sync now.

  • HT4759 I want to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my pc. icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy and frustrating because my PC is ancient, I run XP, & these DO NOT MEET req's for iCloud.  Is there a email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?

I NEED to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my PC. I need to use both.
Trying to use icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy (STOP SCRIPT WARNINGS EVERY FEW MINUTES) and frustrating because:
      1.  my PC is ancient (but nicely refurbished/fast)
      2.  I run XP  (with both Firefox and Chrome- newest versions)
      3.  thusly, I DO NOT MEET SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for iCloud.
In my passed attempts I found that
    1. Yahoo doesn't work well on iPhone
    2. Gmail doesnt work well on iPhone.
I must be missing something... an app or... maybe a donated/ NEW FREE MAC!  (That would be sweet!  Ha.)
Is there an email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?
or... Please say it isn't true: I would love a Mac tablet or desktop. We have no money for a mac. SOL?   Is this iCloud apple tech only for wealthy middle class and above who can afford to have the newest and best of everything?

@Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • HT4759 Can I download my information to another device from icloud if I dont want to use icloud anymore?

If I decide that I do not wish to use iCloud anymore, can I download my information from iCloud to another device?

Yes.  On the other device go to Settings>iCloud, sign in with your iCloud credentials and turn the data you want on the device to On.  To keep the data on the device and without using iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Keep on My iDevice.
