open garageband, select new project, click on any track (piano, etc,) when the window opens, drop down track and delete the track that is there. Then drop down track and select basic track
go to system prefs>soundselect input, select internal mic, and use the slider for level control.
go to out put and check mute to keep from feeding back.
unclick output mute to lisyen to platback
youcan then burn to disc under share, or send it to Itunes, and burn a disc or put it on a flashdrive

Want to use an iPhone as a text to voice reader for a blind user.
Want to use an iPhone as a text to voice reader for a blind user. Please suggest an app.
The iPhone can do it without any additional apps.

I can't afford an expensive microphone attachment, but I want higher quality to record my voice for eventual radio use. What's out there as far as inexpensive attachments that are easy to use? What can I do using my MacBook Pro?
Not sure what your idea of inexpensive is - have you searched for USB Microphones yet? There are hundreds of choices under $100 compatible with Mac or Pc. I'd be cautious and read reviews of the cheaper items as the built-in mic seems to be better than most $20-$30 ones.

My macbook air doesn't let me use the internal microphone
My macbook air doesn't let me use the internal microphone while my headphones are plugged in. The reason I want to use the internal mic is that the person I talk to can hear me louder if I used the internal mic. Can someone help please ASAP? Thanks.
I assume you're using the 3 slot mini jack of the Apple earbuds/ mic. Use a 2 slot headphone jack that doesn't make contact with the the microphone contact in the headset jack on the AIr.
The Air has a HEADSET jack, in which either headphones or headsets can be used.
headset jack on left, for both MIC and headset...............headphone jack for earbuds/ speakers on right (listening only) -

My Macbook pro came with snow leopard. I decided to upgrade to lion so I could use cloud. Now I can't open any word doc. that I receive in emails. Is there any way to remedy this?
You don't tell us what version of Office for Mac you presently have, but I'm guessing it might be Office for Mac 2004. If so, in addition to the suggestion to download OpenOffice you can purchase the most recent version of Office for Mac 2011 directly from MS <http://www.microsoft.com/mac/buy>. You can also purchase Pages productivity suite from the Mac App Store <http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/pages/id409201541?mt=12>.

Closed Lid use with Internal Microphone
Is it possible to configure the internal microphone so that I can use it when I'm running my MacBook Pro with the lid closed? I close the lid and attach the MacBook to a large external monitor and still want to use Skype.
Welcome to Apple Discussions
The internal microphone (and speakers) are still active when in clamshell mode but in my experience it picks up a lot of 'noise' and vibration from the MBP itself and isn't very effective for speech. I use an external microphone (MicFlex) or the one in my external camera (Logitech) and they work well for video conferencing. -
Use of a microphone to record in a MAC G4
I have a Power Mac G4-867 mghz.
this is the unit that has a double mirrored front. I am using Mac O.S. Panther (version 10.3.9). I have tried plugging a microphone at the back of the unit to just hear my voice or better yet to record a song but i just could not do it. I even bought the "Griffin IMIC" with a USB plug (as suggested by a rep of an apple store)but still will not produce any sound. Is the use of a microphone possible in this computer? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.Hi-
To record sounds, music, voices, yes. To amplify your own voice over your computers speakers, not as is.
To record, what software are you using? GarageBand? WireTap, Sound Studio, or AudioX? -

Qosmio F20: How to use the internal microphone?
Okay, my second and last question (hopefully).
The F20 has a "built in" microphone.
How do I use it?
Does this mean I won't need an external microphone at any point?Hi
You can check it with small sound recorder tool that you can find under Start > Accessories > Entertainment.
In my opinion you should not be disappointed. I will be honest to you. My Tecra m1 has an internal micro but I use always the headset and external micro. I use it often with Skype and the sound quality with external one is much better. If I call someone on the phone (not Skype to Skype) the internal micro produces sound repetition.
I recommend you to buy a high quality external headset and you will be very satisfied. Believe me! -

No real helpful answer. If I am not wrong, you need data from SQL tables in form of
XML. Then you can get that straight from SQL by using FOR XML
clause. FOR XML modes can be of 3 types RAW, AUTO or EXPLICIT. You
can use the mode as per your need.

Using an external microphone when recording in iMovie?
I've been trying to find a way to use my external USB microphone (MXL 990 USB) when recording a movie into iMovie when in the Camera Import window. I have the option to use it when I go under the Voiceover menu, but I can't find anything in iMovie or System Preferences that lets me record from it (even when I change the Input in System Preferences to the USB mic) for regular movies. It always uses the built-in mic no matter what I try. How can I use the external mic??
Any help is greatly appreciated!
-RyanRyan--
I've been having the same issue with the same USB mic and I got it to work today. Here's what did the trick:
In previous tries, I had been using the "front" USB port (of the two USB ports on the left side of my machine) on my MacBook unibody with OS X 10.6.1.
I simply tried switching the MXL 990 USB mic to the "back" USB port and the mic now works when I capture video in iMovie from my built-in camera and the MXL 990 mic.
Of course I already made the adjustments (as you have) in System Prefs to the USB Mic---there is recognizes the MXL 990 USB.
I hope this also works for you.
Sincerely,

Using in-built microphone to record a track of me singing
Is this possible? Is there a way of singing at my computer and saving it into itunes?
Not using iTunes.
Check out -> Audacity.
This is what you use to record and edit.
Once you do this, Add the file to iTunes. -

I just recently got an HP TouchSmart 15 notebook PC and know very little about how to use it.
