I want to use Skype in Windows 8 mode (app way)
Hi, I have been using skype for 3 years and last night I opened skype and it told me to download the new version. I did and it was the destop version.... I want to use skype which is in Windows 8 mode. The way it is used as an app. How can I do that? Help me please I have windows 8.1 Thank you

My boss has a hearing aid and a hearing loop set up in his office with his computer plugged into the amplifier. Since he can hear everything from his computer very well, Skype would seem a good choice but he would like people to be able to call him and we are in Canada. I was wondering if we can purchase a US Skype number and use it here in Canada? We would set up a subscription for calls in Canada and the US but he would like to be able to see incoming calls on his computer in a small window and record it for interviews that he conducts for business (with permission of course).

I have an Apple pro wired keyboard that I want to use with a Windows PC. It seems to recognize it through plug & play, but stops working after a few minutes. Does anyone know of a fix to this situation?

So I am trying to copy my hard drive "Macintosh HD" to an external hard drive, i want to use Terminal and have tried many ways. For example cp -r /Volumes/"Macintosh HD" /Volumes/"NO NAME". When i do it says No such file or directory. Ideas?

You can get Xcode without joining the developer program. Just go to the App Store and download it (it's free).
You'd only need to join the Developer program if you want to put your app into the App Store, this is for OS X.
You will need to join the Developer program if you want to develop for IOS. In that case you will need a parent or guardian. -
It's irritating to use skype on Window 8.0
i have installed the new skype download from the internet.
each time i open skype, i always end up in skype from window 8.0

I prefer not to use software that requires a confirmation when you close it, or won't stop trying to sell you things, or sits in memory when you don't want it to and sucks down resources, bandwidth and cpu cycles. I want to use SKYPE... what mike do I need & what Prefs are needed?
My G4 has a mike input plug ... But the mike I was using on my old Graphite sys will not fit.
Can anyone recommend a mike to use for SKYPE on my machine and please explain what Sys prefs are needed?

Jim BYou didn't say what kind of G4 you had, but bear in mind some Macs have a mic-level input and others have a line-level input. Those with the latter (eg the latest G5 dual core Macs) don't pick up enough sound from a normal microphone without an amplifier. It's confusing because both inputs use a 3.5 mm headphone style plug and they look identical.
So if you're buying a headset that you might want to use if/when you change Macs, USB is the way to go.
I use the Logitech 350 USB headset and avoid the mic input altogether. It's best to use a headset rather than a mic, because the incoming audio from your caller won't 'feed back' into your microphone. You can use non-usb headsets coupled with Griffin's iMic USB adaptor as well, but that's an expensive solution.

You need to use the Find My iPhone app (in the itunes store - free). When invoking it on a device, you enter the ID password of the account the lost device is connected to. You can also use a computer's browser and log into icloud.com.

I want to use Bootcamp for Windows 7. Need Help
I want to install Windows 7 onto my Macbook Pro using Leopard software.
I go to Utilities and run Boot Camp Support Software. When I get to the "Download Windows Support Software" I click on "Download the Windows support software for this Mac." When I do, it comes back unable to download the software.
What am I doing wrong, or what other step can I take to download this support software?

DYou always need drivers for a computer.
And after Windows is installed, you have to run Setup.exe off your OS X DVD.
Apple has so far failed to provide pre-install drivers except for MacBook Air. And that is what is being referred to - the pre-install part is totally borked. -
Traveling abroad and want to use skype on my mobil...
I will be traveling abroad to Costa Rica and Nicaragua and taking my mobile phone with me. I will be able to use my phone to connect to the internet whenever wi-fi is available. I will not be able to use my phone for regular calling. So, I want to know if I can make calls through skype using my phone as long as I am connected to the internet through wi-fi? My calls will be to regular landlines or mobiles, not to skype numbers. I will therefore add skype credit once I know that I will be able to call.

I have Firefox 3.6.8 in Linux.
I have a fresh install of Windows 7 on another PC. I am going to install Firefox onto that machine. But would like the data from the profile stored on my Linux machine. Especially the stored passwords.
Can I "copy" the Firefox 3.6.8 profile from the Linux machine and "paste" it into my Windows 7 machine?
