I want to view my own personally created Ibook on my Mac. Help.

I just formatted a 340 page cookbook for a nonprofit as a fundraising activity. I did it in Ibooks because it was easy.
I am new to this and have now realized the error of my ways. Apparently, Ibooks ONLY works on Ipads? I can't even view my book on my MAC computer.
I have started to do some research on various conversions -- hoping I can take a PDF and turn it into something that can eventually be saved as Epub. Tried the free converters, but they suck. On to trying to convert to HTML through another program and go from there.
Meanwhile -- I've heard tales about Requiem 3.3.6 being able to remove DRM which would allow me to view my own **** ibook on my own **** computer, but I am uncertain if this will work and it costs $40 (the guys deserve the money if this works -- but I'm doing this as a volunteer, so not yet sure that I want to start buying more software out of my own pocket).
This is ridiculous. I've got a month worth of formatting and work in this thing and now I'm starting practically from scratch (maybe a little better if my PDF to HTML to EPUB conversion works).
ARGH.

I think in order to preserve the transparency you need to convert them to icns format. Here's what I do:
1. Make the icon on a transparent background in Photoshop Elements, resize to 128x128 pixels size, and save as a tiff file, make sure you check the box to preserve transparency
2. To convert to an icns file you need a program that makes icns files. If you installed Developer Tools you will have Icon Composer, which will work nicely
3. Open your tiff file in Preview, verify that the transparency has been preserved, and select Edit->Copy
4. Open Icon Composer, click on the 128 thumbnail box, and select paste. Drag up to the smaller box, say yes to scale and make mask, drag up to the other boxes, saying yes each time, and then save
5. Download the program icns2icon, launch it, drag 'n drop your icns file onto it to create a custom icon you can copy using GetInfo
Or you can invest a measely $15 in Iconographer and do everything, including applying the icon to the file you want, in one very nice little program.

Want to display only certain manully created master data in F4 help?

We have created a Z infoobject (Char 10) and included in our cube. This Infoobject is mapped directly from DSO from another infoobject which has dates, when I see the data in the cube it looks good for this infoobject.
Now my requirement is, I have created a variable on this IO in the query and I want the users to see in the F4 help only the values that I manually maintain in the master data (I am creating master data records)
In the Bex Explorer tab of RSD1, I have selected "Values in Master Data table" and it shows me the values that I have created manually and also the values that got loaded in the cube from transaction data.
What is the setting I can use so the F4 shows only the values that I want users to see.
Any suggestions.

Are you using 3.5 or 7.0 query designer?
If it is 7.0 query designer then you can see the option "refresh variable as designed"
But if you choose this option "values from the master data" it should work.
I've used in my projects this option verymuch. it worked.
Other than that you may change the query generated program in SE38, to select the F4 options in the Variable.
OR
You can keep Default values in the variable for the User.

Problem:
Want to view my family share calendar in outlook for mac 2011.
Want to have them sync on the fly (push)
Currently running 2 exchange mailboxes which have their own mailboxes and calendars which you can toggle between.
For the PC this is a relatively straight forward task.. You can add an additional calendar to outlook and you are away. Wife's PC can view her own personal exchange calendar and on a separate tab she can view, edit, print etc the family share calendar.
For outlook for Mac, I've tried a few work arounds and none of them actually work, all the Apple documentation available doesn't really cover this.
Any help would be much appreciated

According to your description, I notice that Outlook for Mac for Office 365 cannot open shared calendar.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Which account are you used, Exchange account or Microsoft account?
Would you please login OWA and test to open this shared calendar?
Outlook for Mac cannot open the shared calendar which is a sub-calendar, you have to ask calendar owner share all calendars under the default "Calendar" folder.

So, the article you have there, HT4895, is pretty good. Just look at the FAQ section of it.
But basically, you will want to create a backup on your computer through iTunes...Just plug your current iPad into it and make sure your iPad and iTunes are logged in with the same Apple ID. At that point, just create a backup.
When you get your new iPad, and before you plug it in or set it up, follow the directions in this link to change your Apple ID. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5621?viewlocale=en_US
Once you have that done, plug your new iPad into your computer to sync up with iTunes. Follow the directions for Restore from Backup and it should bring all that info back to your new iPad.
And changing your Apple ID email info will allow you to have your own!!! This should solve all your issues and GL!!!

HT5312 How Do I Stop email Harassment from same person creating multiple apple Ids?

I am being harassed by someone who is creating multiple apple ids and deleting them. The person is constantly trying to get me to click on links. When I tried to reply to one ID the person created, an error came up stating "this user does not exist" It then provided me with a code for that user. I believe this person has hacked into my account on multiple occassion because a lot of time right after I change my password, it stopped working again a few days later.
I feel I have no privacy. This person sends all kinds of emails using the names of major brands as the front. All the emails look cheap and it seems as if it wants you to select the "unsubscribe" button which then phishes my info someone. Can someone tell me who I can report these emails at apple to investigate? The would have to know who created the email links, which are used once then deleted, but the person who is doing this is the same I'm certain.

Can't get it working - just want to view another desktop on my home network

I need to be able to view (not control) the desktop of my PowerMac that is connected to my Zoom DSL modem in another room. I want to view that desktop from my MacBook Pro connected wirelessly to the modem.
The PowerMac is running Mac OS X 10.3.9.
The MacBook Pro is running Mac OS X 10.4.11.
On the Zoom modem I've turned on port forwarding for port 5900 (is this necessary?).
On the PowerMac I have turned on Apple Remote Desktop in the Sharing preferences, and opened port 5900. On the MacBook Pro I have installed Chicken of the VNC, but it can not connect to the PowerMac. I can login to the PowerMac and share files using Mac OS X, and I can successfully ping the PowerMac with Network Utility. But when I try to port scan the PowerMac the scan proceeds for several minutes without finding anything (scanning the range 5900-5910).
When I try to connect using CVNC the error is "Connection Refused:Conect()".
I'm working at the very edge of my understanding of networking here. I'm really not sure about how I've done things, and I have no idea how to troubleshoot this.

Okay, I'm going to answer my own question. I needed to update my ARD client to 2.1 to get this working. Latest is 2.2 so I may try that next, but for now 2.1 is working fine.

You also may want to go to other places like:
- Settings>iCloud
- Settinge>FaceTime
- Settings>Messages>Send and Receive and change the ID
It may be best to go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Settings and start over again and set up the iPod again with his account/ID

If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud on each device, yes. However, you can use the same Apple ID for iTunes content on each device, but different Apple ID's for iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, etc., on each device. That way, you can have whatever iTunes content you want on each phone, but keep all of the other data separate. You can create another Apple ID here:

It is not clear how or where you "added" your email, but you cannot create an Apple ID using an email address that is already associated with another Apple ID.
If that is what you did, delete that email address from your family's Apple ID. You should be free to create a new one.
Do all that by starting here: https://appleid.apple.com/
Select "Manage your Apple ID". Log in with your family's Apple ID and then delete your own email address wherever it appears.
Save Changes, log out, and create the new one using the same website. This time select "Create an Apple ID".
Please don't forget your security questions, and be sure to specify a "rescue email address" that is separate from all other Apple IDs. You will avoid so many problems that way...

You will need that old Apple ID and password, which does indeed still exist. Apple doesn't delete Apple IDs, though if this ID was in the control of your company they may have changed the password. If so, you will need your former company to log into the iCloud account using that ID and password and erase the iPad or remove it from iCloud:

Until that's done you cannot change those settings, and if you try to restore the iPad will have it locked with Activation Lock and thereafter be unusable.

I've been reading thru my Java textbook for the past couple hours.
Exceptions are a wonderful thing. I already found several instances where I could've implemented try/cacth in my earlier programs.
Anyway, getting back to the point. My question is, can someone give me a realistic situation/example where a custom Expcetion class is REQUIRED? (the key word here is "required"!)
I can see why someone would want to have his own Exception class..... e.getMessage() as custom error messages are SO DAMN COOL!!!!!! :P

But seriously, if you are making intermidiate/advanced Java programs, would you ever REQUIRE to make your own Exception class? Afterall, even a custom made Exception class always "extends" from a pre-defined Java class, right?
Let me make this a bit more clear... public class CustomException extends IOException{ }Now, if I am making a try/catch statement, I can simply say

catch (IOException e) { }
Now as you can see, the CustomException was caught by the catch claus, because IOException is the superclass of CustomException. So, in other words, the whole CustomException thingy didnt do anything useful.

Sure. Say you want to have a system where you want to include a custom error code which maps to some internationalized error messages. You would create an Exception subclass with a field to hold that value separate from the normal "default" message. Then you could throw that exception in all your code. Other code can catch it as a plain Exception if they want and use the "default" message, which is okay if they don't really care about the error code.
I don't think you are ever "required" to make your own exceptions. I have done so, but I don't often. It depends. See, there are plenty of Exception subclasses in the standard packages, and most of them cover many of the things you need. So more often if I'm throwing an exception, I'll be using the already existing ones, like IllegalArgumentException or IOException (whatever is relevant to the code).
Yes, you can do what you did below with CustomException. However the reason you might do that is cuz you really want to do this:

}Cuz you may want to differentiate between your exceptions vs. IOExceptions that might be thrown from some java.io class.
Usually when you use an exception class it's a named class that relates to some condition. It may hold additional information besides the standard message, but I think most of the time it's just the class name which describes the problem. And if there isn't one that describes the problem that you're code might encounter, then create a subclass.
