I Wanted To Say Thanks

Well... Despite my grumblings and concerns, Lightroom 1.1 has, for the short time that I have played with it, turned out to be a huge and very welcome improvement over 1.0, and for that I wanted to publicly say thank you. I am very impressed with what I am seeing, from the interface improvements, to the stability, and finally to the functionality. Despite my frustrations in the past (and honestly, I expect I will have some in the future), I have wanted Lightroom to be the program for me. These recent changes have renewed my faith in the program, and I look forward to diving deeper into Lightroom over the next week or so.
I have started fresh, so I have a long journey ahead, but I am giddy with excitement and expect the next week to be loads of fun. Thanks to those here that have allowed me to express my frustrations, and to those that have given me advice to get me on the right track (even if it wasn't directed at me, per se... I've been doing lots of reading here).
I already have two wishes that I will post in the feature requests area at a later time, but I wanted to share them here while I was taking a minute away from Lightroom to post this message...
1. Custom white balance presets. While I can always mimic the effects of a custom white balance preset by using develop presets, I would like to be able to add to the built-in white balance preset list with my own settings (specifically for WB), such as High Pressure Sodium Lights, and the like.
2. Saved searches. I would like to create a search, say "All black dogs outdoors" and save that as a preset in a new list titled "Search Presets." This list could reside in the Library panel, under Find (so it would read, top to bottom, Library, Find, Search Presets, Folders, Collections, Keyword Tags, Metadata Browser). These search presets should automatically update the results whenever I click on the saved search so that as I tag new images and then click on my saved search, those new images (as long as they meet the search criteria) would show up. For those that use iTunes, this is exactly like Smart Playlists.
Thanks for reading, and I hope everyone enjoys this update as much as I am. I don't expect I will be getting much sleep tonight!

I for one appreciate the efforts to improve the program. I believe Adobe is going in the right direction and is, in fact, listening to it's users. I use LR extensively every day (yes, 7 days a week) and the new improvements are very welcome. With all the varieties and configurations of computers out there, it's no wonder there are some problems and conflicts, but at least they're working on a solution.
Seems like there are fewer problems on the Mac, and the main reason I see for this is that Macs are more 'controlled' in their configuration. Many PC's are hacked (and I mean that without disrespect) together with various parts, plug-ins, drivers, varying components, tweaked and re-tweaked that it's difficult to establish a standard to base software on. Add to this Windows.. well... you know what I mean. (Can you guess.. I'm a Mac user).
Anyway.. thanks Tom and the rest of the Lightroom team. LR has changed my workflow for the better and with this new release, makes it even better.

  • Just wanted to say thanks to Pierre

    Hi all,
I haven't posted in ages, but I wanted to say thanks to Pierre for doing such a great job of packaging kde4.4.  I'm one of those annoying hold-outs who was still clinging to kde3, but the number of things that weren't functioning on my system because of that were getting out of hand, and after looking at the previews for 4.4 decided I'd switch once it was out.  I really appreciate the extra work that went into modularizing everything - I'm not afraid of "bloaty megapackages" but it's very nice to be able to choose exactly which packages I want from a larger group.  FWIW, my upgrade went smoothly, and other than very few crashes here and there, I'm enjoying 4 immensely.
I also wanted to say thanks to the arch artwork folks - the wallpapers and icon theming are great!
Please save the haterade for other threads.

Yay, BIG thanks to Pierre, I'm not around for sooo long, but it looks like he's doing an amazing job around KDE here !

  • Just wanted to say thanks for fixing Verizon Cloud today.

Just wanted to say thanks for fixing Verizon cloud which has been malfunctioning for some time. I spent some time with one of your techs. earlier today trying to fix the problem. It was then I learned it wasn't my problem but a system glitch. So thanks again for fixing the problem not too many hours after that.

  • This is not really a question. I just wanted to say thank you.

I just want to say "Thank you." to Phillip for answering my question about the programs that downloaded when I downloaded Firefox. I could find any place else to say thank you, so I'm doing it here. Thank you, Phillip.

Closing thread because it is not a question.

  • Wanted to say THANKS again to those who helped w/PT 880 issue

I just wanted to say "Thank you" to those members who tried to help me sort out the issues I had with my PT 880 mobo back in July.
I got everything working right (in early August), my kids are able to PC game, and I'm very happy with the performance of my PT 880.
I think this is agreat forum and I'd buy another MSI mobo in a heartbeat.

I use it with prescott 3.2g. after update bios to 1.7V, everything works flawless. I likes it and the price is so attractive. I just wonder why MSI updates the bios before putting it in market and says it is prescott ready?

  • Surprise Verizon - I just want to say thanks.

In the past, I and many others, have complained about the time it takes Verizon to get a device update. I presently have the Nokia 928 and I was pleasantly surprised with the latest AMBER update. It came on the day it was released for most other devices across the world.
I did the upgrade; love the new capabilities. Had no problems updating.
I assume that the ease of update was caused by Verizon having not to do the long testing cycle as in the past. This should give you as a company, reason to jump on the Windows Phone train and push harder to sell this product line.
Just wanted to say thanks for the timely update and look forward to the next one.
By the way, the 920 users on AT&T are still waiting for the AMBER update as of yesterday.

it's so nice to give something like that back to the devs (not that i am one, of course)
I kinda felt like that too, but i came from ubuntu with a 3 month gentoo sidetrack ^^

  • Wanted to say thanks

I just purchased & installed an HP multifunction device & was happily surprised that in a reasonable amount of time I was able to get the scanner to function; have yet to print anything aside from the test page, but had been stonewalled (with a Canon & a Lexmark multifunction device alike) on this Windows 7 64-bit since late November, so I appreciate seeing any result other than "Needs Troubleshooting".

We appreciate you being a valuable HP customer! We couldn't do it without people like you.

  • Just wanted to say THANKS!

I had posted here a few times last year and early this year with problems with my old Mini. You all were very kind and responded to all of my questions. To tell you what was going on... EVERYTHING. Only half of my songs would sync, if they'd sync at all. I did all the RRRRs. It was awful and totally stressed me out. I would only try to update my Ipod during semester breaks because it would totally stress me out and consume me for a whole day - issues, right?
So, I finally took it to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store. The very nice guy there said send it to Iresq.com, which I did. The very nice guy there said my hard drive was bad, get a new one.
So, when I got my Mini back, I went back the Apple store and recycled it for a 15% discount on my new Nano.
So, I now have a Nano which has been WONDERFUL (hence, no posts from me!). I recommended this board to someone yesterday, and it occurred to me that I should thank those of you who helped me! Best to all of you...

Yep I could not agree more! Just to show my appreciation, I bought a brand new iPod Classic for 249.00 smack a roo's today! Thanks Apple! You made my day!

  • Just wanted to say thanks for CS6 enhancements.

Been using CS6 PPro since I downloaded trial earlier. Vast improvement on CS5 for me on my Mac Pro Mid 2010 12GB Ram 2.8Ghz OSX 10.7.3.
Love the fact the work area can be disabled and I can select and render in to out for more complicated fx laden sections. Performance is excellent on my Mac Pro so far and have not had to render much at all.
Copied my BorisFX Red and NewBlue fx plugins to CS6 package contents. Installed Magic Bullet Suite (Thanks to swift action by Redgiantsoftware). Plugins are working well so far.
Like the new interface. Can't check out Encore until May 11.
So thanks to the development team.

Thanks! Nice touch. It's faster and more pleasing to the eyes . . .

    Sean,
I finally got a board that is what it should be, no thanks to the people I bought the first 2 boards from. I had to RMA it to California to MSI. By the way, your NJ people were no help at all. They completely ignored me after a call to them and a promise of help. I talked to their NE rep and 2 techies. Totally useless. You had much better luck than me. I just went to MSI's main page and simply put Bios related and they e-mailed me an RMA number.
This board has all of the accessories. The first 2 didn't. I've flashed this one several times to find the best bios. Thanks for the word.

Assaf: keep up the good work. Again, thanks!

  • Just wanted to say thank you to developers

    Hi,
I've been a new subscriber since the iPhone 3g came out. I was really getting angry with the constant crashes ocurring with safari everytime I would use it. I would try resetting network defaults, cleaning out cookies, etc.. To no avail. It got to the point where I really couldn't even browse.
After the latest update applied itself (2.2) the issues with safari have stopped prety much! I've had safari crash only once so far. Fixing this particular issue meant more to me than having added any new feature. THANK YOU!!
