They said i have to have his computer and mine in order to get it onto my computer... well... and on my itunes ID is says i bought them in a recent purchase.

Whether you can redownload music depends upon what country that you in. If you are using your computer's iTunes then does music show in the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page (on your phone you might be able to redownload media via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app) ? If music shows there, but not that album, then check to see if it's hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919
If you aren't in a country when you can redownload music and it's still on your phone then you should be able to copy it over from the phone via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting that track from your iTunes library and redownload it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if it re-downloads in the same state then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

Hi! I just bought a new laptop and have downloaded itunes and signed in. When I did this, my library showed all the music I have "purchased" from itunes but did not have the music that I downloaded a long time ago through itunes from my old CDs. How can I get that music to show up in my library now on my new computer? Also, will itunes still recognize my ipod on my new computer when I plug it in? I have a Dell with Windows 7 and an ipod nano, I think. Why can't I just plug my ipod in and "sync" it? Will that move my CD music into my library on itunes? Thanks for any help! Soooo confusing!!!

I was trying to turn off iTunes Match on my iPhone and first turned Match off on my MacBook rather than on my iPhone (which was wrong, I should have just turned it off on the iPhone). I had ~28,000 songs in my library when I turned off iTunes Match; I had deleted ~8,000 of those files from my laptop (which I backed up on a portable hard disk) but I left the deleted files in my library, so that I could play them through iTunes Match. One of the benefits of Match, right? Saving hard drive space. So I turned off iTunes Match on my MacBook thinking that was how to turn it off on the iPhone (it wasn't), and when I turned Match back on, those ~8,000 songs were not in my library. I tried to update Match several times but can't seem to get the songs back. I know they are still in the cloud somewhere though, because if Match restarted then it would match/upload all of my remaining ~20,000 songs - but it hasn't, I still have thousands of "exceeded limit" songs. Anyone know how I can get those songs back?

I would not use iTunes Match as a backup. There are too many bugs and I don't think that's what they intended it to be anyway. The main advantage of using it is to make your music available on OTHER devices, not to replace the music on your original computer.

I did this last night, and copied all the music from old laptop onto new one. But there was still a lot of stuff missing, mainly from my own CDs that I'd ripped. Also I'm still getting the icon on my iPhone that the music is on the iCloud. This doesn't suit me because it will cost me a fortune to download each song by cellular when I'm out driving. My computer has crashed several times since I bought my first ipod in 2005. Recently, it crashed so badly that my fella who fixed it just wiped everything off it and reinstalled things. I have a new ipod now and just got my computer back. I log in to itunes, register my ipod, and, its bad enough that everytime my computer crashes and is fixed that itunes thinks I am connecting yet another computer to my account (it believes I have four computers/devices but I have only ever had one ipod and one computer simultaneously),. but on top of that, all my songs listed in my purchase history are not in my library. Hundreds of songs.
How can I download them again? I was told in the Apple Store to deauthorize the computer and reauthorize it and it should begin downloading my previous purchases into my library. I tried that, but to no avail.

It is the users responsibility to maintain a backup of their files.
If you have failed to keep a backup, that is not good.
If the content is on your iDevice and it was purchased via iTunes, connect the device (DO NOT SYNC) then select File > Transfer Purchases.
If the content is on the device but was not purchased via iTunes, you're out of luck mostly. Do a google search, you can find utilities that will allow you to extract the content.
If you are in the US and running iTunes 10.3 or later, there is an option to redownload previously purchased iTunes content. To do this, in iTunes select Purchased, then at the bottom select Download Previously Purchased. There are options for Music, Apps, and iBooks. Select the "Not in My Library" option and download what you want.

If the music was purchased from the iTunes store, you can re-download it without charge. Otherwise, you will need to invest in 3rd party software to try and extract it from the phone.

Yes - I connected my phone to my computer / Itunes and went into the apps section, but from there I have no idea how to manage the push notifications. I even tryied going into itunes that is installed on my phone. I still cannot find anyplace to manage these popups. Yeah, I don't see why you shouldn't be able to sign your friend's iTunes sign-on into iTunes, and then use that to download the books. You may need to also authorize your computer in iTunes with that ID in order to be able to re-download them to your device if you ever need to (not sure if this is absolutely required since most things live in the cloud now, but better to be safe than sorry.... ).

For iTunes purchased music you might be able to re-download it via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes. For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) then unless you had subscribed to iTunes Match and uploaded it to it from your computer then no, it won't be stored anywhere

First, have the recipient check any anti-spam filters that may be present on her email account or in any email application to make sure that messages from Apple aren't being blocked. If she is sure that is not the case, go here:

If you are now in the US then you can only use the US store, so you should update the address on your account
Changing country : Change the country of your iTunes Store, App Store, iBooks Store, and Mac App Store account.
Had you copied the songs over to your computer's iTunes library, do they show in the Music section on it ? You can copy purchases that you still have on your iPad over to your computer's iTunes library via the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option
