I was charged Texas taxes for 7 years after moving, won't refund the overage

I lived in texas from 2005-2007, when  I moved to Washington, DC, and then SC I changed my address with Verizon. However, I never stopped getting charged Texas taxes which are one of the highest in the country. .Basically I was overcharged around $6 a month for SIX YEARS. I know I should have noticed or thought it strange, but honestly I don't pay attention to the taxes section because I figure taxes are not negotiable. Someone pointed it out to me recently and I called customer service to find out why and if I had any recourse. They said it was their error but nothing could be done. My frustration is two-fold, firstly I've been with Verizon since 2001, and probably paid them over 12,000 over this timeframe. I started my account in SC, NOT TEXAS, and shouldn't they be able to get the money back from Texas??? No one service rep would even send me the reason they denied my complaint in writting and I reached out to the Regional VP for Verizon and didn't even get a response. I understand I'm culpable too, but this GIANT company can't even make an attempt to make ammends. It's so dissapointing that they don't care about individuals anymore because without me as a client, they are still making millions.

No offense but you didn't even care to check your bill for 7 years and yet you complain about Verizon not caring? You get 12 bills a year even if you took 10 minutes to look over you bills that's 2 hours a YEAR to check your bill. You didn't have 2 measly hours PER YEAR to make sure your bill was correct and this is Verizon's fault?
Let's flip this question around. What if Verizon was undercharging you for 7 years then came back and said , "Oh sorry we just found out we should have been charging you $6 more per month for the last 7 years you owe us $500." I'm 100% sure you reaction would be "Too bad".
