I was confused

Hi to all the java programmer here! You guys are great!
Im a college student of **I College, I start programming with java on 2003 when I take my computer programming 3.
At first I hate java coz it takes a lot of code to perform a specific tasks compared to rad vb6 and vb.net.
Eventually I started to loved programming with java bcoz of its capabilities that other programming languages don't have, backward compatibility, cross-platform, etc...
Right now I really love programming with Java and Im eager and hope someday I'll be a great java programmer like you guys!

My classmates and programming instructors ask me why I used java, why not vb6 or .net?
And I answer them "java is the best programming languages for me and I want to write my code only once... etc"and then they ask me again java is the best? how? is there any OS written in java? I returned to them their question "is there any OS written in vb6 or .net? hehe...".
They told me Im the first one in **I college that used java to programmed a thesis project /* they all used vb6 and .net */ and ask me to switch to vb6 or .net. I was confused. Exporting in version 10.0.8 was confusing?

Please help. I could not find the status if I export a movie from FCP 10.0.8. From one of the websites, i saw that the status should appear from the time line. Been ages but I have not seen any messages or confimation that the exporting has been completed or anything. Hence, Im not sure if that has ever been completed at all or not. Although from my timeline, something like this was showing up. But as said, its taking years and still not complete. In the previous version of FCP, my exporting only takes me 5 minutes and done! but this time im not sure if im just not doing it right.
Please help me how to do proper exporting of movies. This is what I did. Please let me know if that is right. Thank you!

Do you see the "Save" button?
You have to click it to start the saving.
A 4 minute video should take no more than 10 to 20 minutes to save.
I always save them to the desktop where they are easy to see.
If you look at the top picture you added to your post you will see a little "24" towards the top left corner.
That means the saving/exporting is 24% completed.

Can the Nikon D3200 shoot tethered in the newest LR? The support article was confusing.

I am considering purchasing a Nikon 3200 for use in a small Santa photo studio. I will be purchasing Lightroom, as well, and using a tethered setup to capture the images for a quick turnaround to photo or website. When I initially researched it, I swear I saw it was listed as supported. Now I don't see it under the list of tether-supported Nikon's, yet Canon has a list of specifically non-supported cameras, and the Nikon does not appear on a non-supported list. Is there any indication this camera CAN, or soon will, be able to be used for tethered shooting in Lightroom?

Official documentation does not list it as currently supported.
Future support isn't normally announced.

Engineer been, he was confused too

Engineer been and replaced my VDSL box (BT Openreach guy, not 3rd party), tested line etc and it's come back fine (although my upstream isnt hitting 10mb, only 7.5, but hey) top profile and speed down though, cant wait for 80/20 and not for the 80 part, but rather the 20, anyhow getting sidetracked.
I showed him my issues with the HH3b as well while he was there, and he replaced it with another that did the exact same thing (Cant connect to WPA, WPA2 or WPA/WPA2 mixed unless using the WPS button, so can't connect using password)
I've had a dig about, and if I use the WPS button to connect and then look at the password Windows has stored using WirelessKeyView it's the same bloomin password as the one I tried to type! it's doing my nut as can't connect any of the Apple devices (they just love open standards dont they).
Insult to injury, we tried a HH3a and it works as expected! however they all suffer the slowdown if hosting a server (port forwarding) issue, so can't replace it with that.
Without buying a Draytech (and I'm thinking of doing just that!) whats the best option, surely others are having the WPAx issue? can't just be me, as tried 3 HH3b devices now with the exact same issues, and the OpenReach engineer stood there and said 'yup deffo doesnt work' as he tried to connect to a factory device using his own laptop.
On the good side, nice to see that my connection is better now I have the new VDSL box in, a whole 10mb/s recovered from the swap to a 3b.
Also dont spose we can give BT the bloomin HH3b back and get our £99 poiunds they say it's worth off em? if I can It's off in the post today and I'll get a Netgear/Draytech

p.s. i think the reason engineer was for a reset was he thought the fault might have been present since infinity was installed and i guess thus never has been able to get to the "correct" speeds and also someting about the OR modem needing the reset for firmware update for G.INP

I used Terminal to change the permissions on the folder in question. I followed the instructions in this article:
iTunes: Missing folder or incorrect permissions may prevent authorization
In my case, the folder was there, so I needed the command to change permissions on the folder, not to create one. I was hesitant to use Terminal b/c I know that if I made an error I could wipe out my hard drive or render my computer unusable. So to be SURE I didn't make an error, I carefully copied the command from that page and *pasted* it into Terminal. Also, before I could do anything in Terminal, I had to go change my admin password (it had been a blank password before and that's not acceptable for making changes in Terminal). I was just super careful when entering my password or doing anything else while Terminal was open (making sure I didn't accidently hit the spacebar or another key, etc.) And it fixed the problem right away.
What was confusing for me was that the iTunes error message said to change permissions in the FINDER, which is what I was trying to do. It didn't mention Terminal. What would really be helpful is if Apple included a link to a page like this in their error message.

I am running Windows XP on a lab top for a while. Just recently, every time I opened PDF files, I was getting an empty page. So, I installed the latest Adobe Reader. After that I started getting the error message "There was an error processing a page. A file I/O error has occurred".
Does anybody have a solution to this?

I found my problem. My down scale quits, but quits as in not showing it's working. (I was confused too). Most all files can not be seen until fully downloaded. For whatever reason, perhaps a glitch or the new modum or video card. When downloading do not interupt as in wanting to view a page, but go to Network and Sharing Center (bottom right hand corner - click the computer running symbol) and click View Status. See Activity. If the numbers are rolling you are recieving. Waiting until it is complete. This is madding, but I've learned to live with it.

I receive a text from someone but it has an e-mail address at top of message. When I reply and send , it gets returned. Why? and how was original message sent?

I have downloaded I-Cloud and the new ios program. Where do my text go through now if they don't show up on my bill in the data usage section? When I get a text from friends sometime their e-mail address shows at the top of the message instead of their name like it use to. Then when I reply it gets returned. They tell me they are sending it through the normal text like they use to.

You are probably right - I don't have my iPad with me and was confusing myself. But on the iPad it is receive at email addresses only.
Sending to the phone number will mean ONLY your iPhone gets the message. If you want it to go to ALL devices, then you should have them send to the email address associated with the AppleID you used to set up iMessage originally. Also set that email address up as your caller id on the iPhone so as you send out messages, people will reply to that and both your devices should get them.

what if you just type in a 10-digit phone number on the iPad instead of an email?
(I originally did all this with iOS 5.0, and I know then the number did not work on an iPad, but maybe with iOS 5 updates, it does now?)

Multilingual Issue/Confusion for PT849/FSCM90 ML install

Recently I've installed a PT8.49, FSCM 9.0 with FSCM 9.0 ML. But there're several steps fails or I was confused at.
Here's the main procedure of the installation I went throu.
1. Install WebLogic/Tuxedo
2. Instal PT8.49/FSCM 9.0/FSCM 9.0ML
3. Manually create Oracle DB (follow the Manually DB setup on Unix section of Official installation guide.)
4. Setup App Server
5. PIA setup/Batch server setup
Here's the issue i met with:
During the step 3, manually create Oracle DB, after applying some dms/sql scripts & copying several projects, I went into the point that need to update the PT system msg for multilingual to run the pt849tlsXXX.dms for each LANGUAGE_CD(after applying pt849tls.dms). As it's supposed to apply all the multilingual, I ran the scripts from pt849tlsara to pt849tlszht one by one for each language, but some of the pt849tlsXXX encountered with the same error while applying the data mover scripts:
Importing PSFILEDEFN
File: Data MoverSQL error. Stmt #: 0 Error Position: 0 Return: 805 - ORA-00001: unique constraint (SYSADM.PS_PSFILEDEFN) violated
Failed SQL stmt:INSERT INTO PSFILEDEFN (FILEID, USERFILENAME, OBJECTOWNERID, VERSION, LASTUPDDTTM, LASTUPDOPRID) VALUES (:1, :2, :3, :4, TO_TIMESTAMP(:5,'YYYY-MM-DD-HH24.MI.SS.FF'), :6)
Error: SQL unable to commit transaction for PSFILEDEFN
The Import PSFILEDEFN is at the bottom of the scripts and all other importing before PSFILEDEFN was successful. Here's the Language which encountered with this issue: CFR, DUT, ESP, FRA, GER, JPN, POR, ZHS; ALL other language ran successfully without error msg.
For installation, I skipped this and continued. BUT i have no idea why it failed, is that a bug or some steps stuck, anyone can help?
Here's the confusion about multilingual:
In the installation official guide, it wrote that PPLTLSML is only for french, and Non-french multilingual is using the project PPLTLS84CURML.
During the Step 3, after copying the project PPLTLS84CUR, I copy the PPLTLSML first with only French language selected, then when doing the copying PPLTLS84CURML project, I was confused whether to include french or not. Actually I selected all languages besides ENG, Common & French for the copying.
I'm confused if CFR should be included in PPLTLSML or PPLTLS84CURML?
And French should be selected or not during copying the PPLTLS84CURML?
However, there're 2 tasks: Running Additional Data Mover Scripts & Installing a Multilingual PT System Database before running VERSION AE, are these 2 tasks the same one with the previous tasks done (epXXXa.dms generated in the initial data mover DB setup scripts, and copy mulitilingual projects steps before copy the PPLTLS84DEL)? Why these 2 taks are put in this part of the doc? As I did the installation according to the doc chapter order, thus makes me confused alot about these 2 tasks.

Is there a way to tell when the trash bin in iPhoto was emptied?

I am a teacher. I lost some very important photos and was under the impression that one of my students deleted them because she was mad at me. I was confused about how she did this because the main trash bin was still completely full. I didn't think until I got home about the trash bin in iPhoto. After a couple of tests, I think this is probably how she deleted the (since-recovered) photos.
My question is, am I able to tell when photos were deleted from iPhoto?

Confused about Sony HDR-SR7 and iMovie '08 import

I have my camera set to record at HD XP (15Mb/s). If I look on the camera hard drive at an arbitrary .mts file that is 107.3MB and import that into iMovie '08 at the Full (1920x1080) setting, that 107.3MB file turns into a whopping 854.5MB, while the Large (960x540) setting yields a much more reasonable 287.3MB file size (yet still double the size of the raw file sitting on the hard drive).
There's got to be some re-encoding going on, but what's the point? Why take a 100MB file and explode it to 800MB when you can't get any more quality out of the 100MB file?
Is it just the fact that iMovie doesn't actually support whatever native codec Sony's AVCHD uses, so it needs to re-encode it using AIC whose compression isn't as good as whatever codec AVCHD is using?
So this poses a real dilemma for me - do I import at Full or do I import at Large? Where does one notice the difference? If I blow up the 960 file to display the same size as the 1920 file, I can totally see artifacts on my 30" ACD, but would they show up on my Pioneer plasma TV? PDP-5070HD (1365x768))
Assuming I stay on Full quality - is there any way I can accurately tell how much hard drive space an import is going to consume? Right now my 60GB drive is rammed to the gills and I want to dump it all, but I need to make sure I have the space. 1:8?

*First: it sounds like you are not importing to iMovie, it sounds like you are trying to browse to the clips. That may not work.*
Ok - I was trying to import and also to view directly on the camcorder (but not at the same time). It was maybe 2 questions rolled into one so apologies if that was confusing...
*Second:You have SD and HD mixed, All of the SD has to be imported before any HD can be imported according to the manual.*
So what would I do, import SD movies first, and then delete it to then import HD specifically? Or do I just import SD and then import HD separately without deleting SD footage from the camcorder?
*Third point: The clips can be on the hard drive or the card. The camera has to be set to the media with the clips you want to import. If you recorded to the card, then switched to the hard drive, you won't be able to import the card video until you switch back.*
I dont have a card at the moment - only using the HDD.
*When you have the import working it is a matter of using the check box to select the clips you want.*
i assume iMovie loads them all up and asks you which ones you want to import?
*Alos one final point for video on the card I find it much easier to use a card reader to import. When I plug in the card reader to my usb port it mounts on the desk top, I start iMovie and the import screen comes up after iMovie is all opened up and running.*
I dont see much point in the card reader at the moment as the HDD is 120GB whereas I assume memory sticks only go to 8GB or so max...

Q. Why Java and ABAP?
Ans. XI (now PI) is built on Java and ABAP stack, so knowledge of both will help you immensely to understand the working, tracing the error and building scenarios.
Like, for example XI's Integration Server (i.e. XI as a system) has three major components inside it, namely Adapter Engine (Based on Java), ccBPM engine (ABAP stack) and Integration Engine (Both ABAP and Java Stack)
Q. Is there any area where we would not need the knowledge on Java or ABAP?
Ans. While Designing message mappings, exposing Webservices, designing ccBPM scenarios, what you will need is a good knowledge of SOAP, XSDs, XML, WSDL, XSLT etc, i.e. you need to have a feel of open standards to understand how XI works and where it is placed architecturally.
Q. Where do I need Java knowledge the most?
Ans. As I am unaware of your technological background, let me assume that you know nothing of SAP.
       So, if you have a descent knowledge and exposure of Java, it would help you to:
       a) Understand and resolve errors and issues in XI (mainly based on Java)
       b) Enhance the capabilities of Adapters (nothing but complex java programs)
       c) Enhancing Message Mappings (by writing Java based 'user defined functions')

Q. Where do I need ABAP knowledge the most?
Ans. XI or PI is a middleware, i.e. it interacts with applications or systems at both the ends. Primarily one of the end (back end) is SAP R/3 or ECC (advance version of SAP R/3) box. Here your knowledge in ABAP comes handy. Communication between XI and SAP takes place using core SAP technologies or formats like IDoc, RFCs or plain ABAP code (known as proxies).
       Also you need to have an average knowledge of SAP ABAP (Advance Business Application Programming Language), a 4th generation language to be able to trace erros and build customized programs in SAP environment.

IDOC segment attributes confusion....

Hi ABAP Gurus,
I have doubt realted to IDOCS. I was looking at the attributes of one of the IDOC segment.
There are three things:
1) Mandatory Flag, 2) Minimum Number,3) Maximum Number
Now in this particular segment I found:
Mandatory Flag: Not set
Minimum Number: 1
Maximum Number: 9999999
Now what does Minimum number and Maximum number mean ?
What decides if a segment is mandatory or not. ISs it set decided my Minimum number or mandatory flag ?
In above case does it seems to me that data for this segment is mandatory because Minimum number is 1 (But Mandatory flag is not set). So I was confused ?

It means minimum and maximum number of allowed occurrences of an IDoc segment.
What decides if a segment is mandatory or not. Is it set decided by minimum number or mandatory flag?
Mandatory segment is decided mandatory flag. If the mandatory flag is not set, it means the segment is optional to be populated or used.

Hello, we are getting this error message when opening most of our financial statements, etc...
We have tested the files on several versions of Adobe Reader, such as 9.0, 9.3.4, 10.0
This statement does however open up on some machines which are not on our network at all.
Our versions of Adobe Reader are also fully updated.

When downloading do not interupt as in wanting to view a page, but go to Network and Sharing Center (bottom right hand corner - click the computer running symbol) and click View Status. See Activity. If the numbers are rolling you are recieving. Waiting until it is complete. This is madding, but I've learned to live with it.
