You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. Thank you for the advice, John Blanchard1 and Linc Davis
As suggested in your reference thread I removed "/Library/Printers/hp/PDEs/hpPostScriptPDE.plugin" and the problem has been resolved.
I am guessing the the plug-in for the hp printers got corrupted and effected every thing, or became unsuitable when I installed an Apple update. I would be most grateful if you can confirm how the problem was coursed so I can understand and learn from this experiance.

Whilst the remote app can be used once the Apple TV has been set up, you still need the original remote to set it up first.

iDevices are not and have never been backup devices.
Authorizing a computer does not cause media to magically appear.
Media is only where the user puts it.
Copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

When you are pulling music from a hard drive and it says music can not be found, is there a way to stop it from doing that every time I play music from my computer? It used to find all music now it only finds 1 song at a time

If you can play the movies in iTunes, you should be able to open the movie files using Quicktime, which should already be on your system. If you have already transferred the files to your flash drive, open the flash drive in Finder, and hold control when you click on the movie file (or right click if you have the enabled) and select Open With Quicktime Player. This should play the movie directly from the flash drive.

3) If 1. & 2. questions are solvable, will it then be safe to delete the movies from my itunes?
You can move the TV shows to your flash drive by dragging them from the iTunes window to your flash drive in Finder or the flash drive icon on the desktop. When you are sure everything is transferred over to your external device, you can delete the movie from iTunes. I recommend playing the videos from the flash drive first before deleting them in iTunes.
To delete the videos from iTunes, you can highlight them and press the delete key on your keyboard. In the next prompt, you would want to move it to the trash so that it is deleted from your internal hard drive.

They granted me a re download of a series and the problem of course still persited.Contacted Apple and they said they could not help. I uninstalled and reinstalled I tunes. When i went into safe mode i was told I had an audio video playback problem when I opened I Tunes. I created a new user account pwer an Apple support article and the problem still persists. Music and videos work just fine. I am going crazy over this one. Can someone please help me out? Any help would be aprreciated. Thanks in advance

Probably because it's not an Apple issue. I have Lacie EHD's connected to my MBAir and iMac, all work perfectly on Mavericks. In addition I don't have any keyboard issues on any of my Apple products. BTW IOS is only for IOS devices such as iPads, iPods and iPhones, Macs use OS X. The two OS's are seperate products designed to run on seperate products.

The music sync is one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases. File>Transfer Purchases
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to move everything to your new computer.

Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again.
