I was given a task to find out more information on the following before we purchased anything. Please, can you answer the following questions regarding the IEEE 488 to Ethernet.

1) How do we connect our network analyzers to the network?
2) What do we need to purchase?
3) How much is this going to cost us?
4) What kind of capabilities will this give us? (if any)

I think you are talking about the GPIB-ENE from NI.
1) You have to setup the ENET box by giving it an IP address. You may also need your Sys Admins help to do this. After that you will need to install the software, connect to the ethernet and connect to the equipment.
2) GPIB-ENET/100 from NI. Not sure if the NI488.2 comes with it or seperately, but you need it also.
3) Between $1,000 and $1,500 (US)
4) I like this solution. It allows you to control IEEE 488
equipment from virtually anywhere. You do not have to have a GPIB controller on every PC, but only on the equipment to control. I have test stations that I roll from place to place. I don't have to worry about connecting the station to a PC. I simply plug the station into the LAN and use any PC I want.
If you have e
quipment that you would like to control from anywhere or move from place to place this is the only way to go.

If the email hasn't arrived after a few hours and isn't in a spam filter, you need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

  • How can I find out more about books in the iBooks store?

I've got iBooks for my iPod Touch and it works well. However when I search for stuff in the iBook Store, there is very little information apart from the title and author of a work. For example if it's a translation of a well-known book (think Tolstoy, Homer, Dumas), then probably there will be several different translations available, but iBooks store doesn't tell me which one it is offering; indeed sometimes more than one version is offered with no info about the difference between the versions. Is there any way of searching for more info on books in the store? After all, someone must have compiled the list.

I always do the tapping, and this never tells me the kind of thing I was querying. However I have to admit the samples (which I haven't often used) do often seem to do the trick - I just sampled a few books, and since they all had title pages included in the sample, I got what I wanted from there. What they reveal about classics like Anna Karenina or The Odyssey is that the translations are often very old (frequently 19th Century) and therefore in the public domain. Nice because free, but I would not normally want to go back that far, so I guess iBooks is not the place to look for modern editions of classics?
Anyway to be fair you have answered my question - but I would love iBooks to give access to better review material (not just user reviews that may or may not exist, but something more like Amazon's system): and really I would like them to have a lot more books from different periods (again like Amazon, or a really good bookshop). But I guess I'm not exactly iBooks' target audience.

In the Software update window, it said that "or information on the security content of this update, please visit this website: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1222".
I went to that website and there is no information about this update.  It just shows the general info about all updates ....

Try a pram reset;  Power down in the normal procedure, power back up holding the following keys before the start up chime ;  option, command,P,R (no commas)continue to hold these these keys until you hear the start up chimes 2 times, then release. Reboot and see if this helps. If this persists, you should bring the machine to an Apple store, or an AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider)  Hope this helps:)

  • How to find out more info about an existing fault

    Hi there,
The whole village of Luib on Skye has been cut off because the main road was being resurfaced and the machine digging up the tarmac ripped up and mangled the main phone cable on 30th March. (Not the road menders' fault, but BT's because they never buried the cable properly. In fact, they didn't bury it at all, just hid it in the verge.)
I have logged the fault on my line and can get a standard amount of info using the online fault tracker. The thing is that all that's available is a standard message saying the phone is expected to be fixed in 3 working days. We (the villagers) don't think this is likely: It's happened before and BT need to order up a supply of the thick cable AND arrange traffic lights etc. We fear it's more likely to be a couple of weeks at best.
How can we find out more useful information? I tried phoning BT and pressing various buttons, just got the standard fault info, then was asked if I wanted to continue. When I pressed 2 for "yes" a voice said "Thank you for calling BT - Goodbye."  That wasn't the sort of continuation I wanted!
I have to say that we are heartily sick of the poor treatment we get here on Skye. BT seem to think that because we in a remote place we are not a priority. But consider this: Luib has both private houses and businesses, including mine, that need a phone service and broadband, credit card faciilities etc. and WE DO NOT HAVE ANY MOBILE PHONE SIGNAL.  This means we are totally cut off. What if there is a medical emergency?
OK: Rant over. But can anyone suggest how I might escalate this and/or find out some solid information. If it turns out there's a wait of a couple of weeks is there any way of putting pressure on to speed things up?
    Many thanks.

I have the Iphone 4s and am having trouble syncing.  It keeps telling me i have gone over the space limit.  Is there a way to find out what is thaking up the most space?  there used to be a bar on the bottom of the screen that told you how much space audio took, pictures, extra space was avalible, etc. but i dont see anything like that now.

Plug your device to your computer and open iTunes. There click on your device and it appears at the bottom how much space is each group of items usin (video, audio, music, photos, others...).
    Hope that helps.

  • How do I find out what is using up the majority of my 128GB storage

I am at full capacity on my 128GB MacBook Air, I initially thought that I was using it up with photos but evidently after looking in "About my mac", then "More info" and then "storage" which gives me a crude break down of what my storage is being used for. I am only using 48GB for photos and a little for music, then the rest is classed as "Other". What is this other?!?!? And how can I get rid of it?
Hope someone can shed some light of this?!
    Thanks in advance :-)

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of your data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
If you're using Time Machine to back up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of files you've recently deleted. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore your volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning your files.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • How can I find out what is running in the background and running my batterie down

How can I find out what is running in the background

    Hi simpbarby,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The links below will help you understand what apps are running on your iPhone.  You can quit the ones that you aren't using.
    iOS: Understanding multitasking
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4211
This link will provides tips to conserving battery life:
    Apple - Batteries - iPhone
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
    Optimize Your Settings
Depending on how they are set, a few features may decrease your iPhone battery life. The tips below apply to an iPhone running iOS 7.0 or later.
Enable Wi-Fi: Having Wi-Fi enabled helps consume less power when doing activities that access data. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and log in to a Wi-Fi network.
Adjust brightness: Dim the screen or turn on Auto-Brightness to extend battery life. Turning on Auto-Brightness allows the screen to adjust based on lighting conditions.
Fetch new data less frequently: The more frequently email or other data is fetched, the quicker your battery may drain. To fetch data manually: Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Fetch New Data and tap Manually.
Turn off push notifications: Apps with Push Notification alert you of new data, which may impact battery life. To disable, go to Settings > Notifications, choose the app you want to disable, and do the following:
    Change Alert Style to None.
    Turn Badge App Icon off.
    Turn Sounds off.
Note: New data will be received when you open the app.
Minimize use of location services: Apps that actively use location services, such as Maps, may reduce battery life. You can see which applications have recently used location services by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
Use Airplane Mode in low- or no-coverage areas: Your iPhone always tries to maintain a connection with the cellular network, which may use more power in low- or no-coverage areas. Turn on Airplane Mode to increase battery life in these situations.
Viewing Usage StatisticsKnowing and understanding your iPhone usage can help you better manage your battery life. To view your iPhone usage statistics, go to Settings > General > Usage. Under “Time since last full charge”:
Usage: Amount of time iPhone has been awake and in use since the last full charge. iPhone is awake when you’re on a call, using email, listening to music, browsing the web, or sending and receiving text messages, or during certain background tasks such as auto-checking email.
Standby: Amount of time iPhone has been powered on since its last full charge, including the time the phone has been asleep.
I hope this information helps ....
    Have a great day!
    - Judy

I have some user profiles in web-inf directory.SO I want to know the path from root directory like

    Thanku

    String path = application.getRealPath("/WEB-INF/profiles/username");
Note sure why you need this, but you don't need the real path to read the file - you can get an InputStream using the relative path. See ServletContext getResource() and getResourceAsStream().
