I was laying in bed, using my phone last night. Without dropping it, applying pressure or anything, I heard a "pop" noise come from my phone, and when I turned on my light I saw that there was a crack across the top part of my screen. What are my options?

I need to know what kind of support apple has for this sort of problem, and if I can get it fixed or replaced free of charge because I didn't do anything to cause it. It just cracked while in my hand.

Take it to an Apple store genius bar and see what the techs suggest.  Some Apple stores in the US are now able to do repairs on the iPhone 5 series, including screen replacement.
