I was told G4 Tower was slower than G3 mini tower?

Hi all,
I was told that the G4 tower was slower than the G3 mini tower. Isn't 400mhz vs the 266mhz suppose to be faster? Or is this not a true factor? Let me know. Thanks for your help

TS3212 I uninstalled iTunes because I have not bben able to update it or my iphone. I was told the program was infected. I am reinsatlling and getting error code 2203. Any ideas?

I uninstalled my iTunes because it would not update and I have not been able to update my phone. I was told my program was infected and to uninstall and then reinstall it. I am now getting error code 2203 when I try to reinstall it. This is the second time trying to reinstall. The first time it was reinstalled with the same problems I orginally had. Step 1. Go to your “Applications” folder
Step 2. Go to your “Utilities” folder
Step 3. Launch “Terminal”
Step 4. Type “sudo nano /etc/hosts” (without quotes) and hit return
Step 5. Enter your password
Step 6. Use the down arrow key to find the “gs.apple.com” entries. Once the cursor is in front, make sure you comment out the line(s) by entering “#” (no quotes) in front of the text
Step 7. Save the file by pressing CONTROL+O on the keyboard
Step 8. Exit the nano editor by pressing CONTROL+X on the keyboard

I was told that Pages was a free app. When I went to download it, it said I needed Mavericks. So I did...now when I go to the app store it says its 19.99 but then it is under the Free section with the 19.99 price? So is it free or not?

You may have to set the language to English to get it to show you the free upgrade.

I am trying to open Firefox. I have changed from Beta to 3.6, neither came up on my Icon. got to registration which last night was told that it was authenticated now can't get any help. Please no more lists I need person to help me. Can't get Chats

Firefox will not open. If I click the icon I get a less than oe second flash of Firefox on the bar and then its quickly changes to Finder.

Nobody can help you without proper system and version information or other technical details. if the update is botched, then run the cleaner tool and reinstall from scratch.

Duplicate account. Was told 10x this was solved no...

I have the misfortune of being a BT customer since February.
It took them 2 months to get me connected and then I started to receive 2 bills each month with 2 different phone number and account numbers.
After countless telephone calls with incompetent call center employees I was told that the duplicate account was a mistake on their end. They closed it, I received a VOL number which verified that all the charges would be dropped and that I would receive a confirmation of this within the week.
I have just received a payment request by a debt collection agency for outstanding payment on a terminated account.
I am beyond furious now.
1. I'd like someone at BT to contact me.
2. I'd like to have written confirmation that this will not affect my credit rating at all.
3. If I receive conformation that all payment charges are void I'd like to discuss compensation for all the time lost contacting BT. Phone call bills and basically frustrating me beyond belief.
If I can't resolve these 3 items I'm considering going to a soliicitor.
How can this happen? How can this escalate to a debt collection agencies while at least 3 people escalated the ticket and confirmed that this was a mistake and duplicate account?
I'm still a BT customer and have a broadband, phone and TV package which is paid monthly by direct debit and there are no outstanding payments on that account. I can verify this with my latest online bill.

Hot Spot, was told $20 but was charged $30

I added wireless hotspot to my plan. I was told via chat that it would be an additonal $20 per month but when I checked my bill it says $30. I have transcript of chat with Verizon Customer Service. Please advise.

Hi was told that there was an update for itunes yesterday, when to update and this kept failing, was prompted to uninstall itunes and reinstall this continues to fail message coming up says Apple Mobile device failed to start insufficient previlieges

Hi yesterday I was prompted to a update to itunes this I tried to do without success failing a number of times. After this I was prompted to unistall itunes and re install this now continues to fail with a message error something like Apple Mobile Devices Failed to start not enough previlieges. Please help is this a Apple issue Iv'e never had any problems before.

I had this same problem this morning. When I tried to run ITunes after the failed upgrade I got a "msvcr80.dll is missing" driver error.

got the latest version of ITunes up and running for me.
The only thing that didn't quite work like the instructions said was I couldn't get the Apple Mobile Device Support to uninstall. The uninstall ran and said it was successful, but it was never removed from my list of installed programs. Even w/ that, the full re-install fixed the issue.

Macbook pro over 5 years old phoned up because it fell onto the floor and mad a big bang looked at screen it was cracked and battery looked liked it had exploded i explaind what had happend and was told that it was normal how dangerouse is that no warning

mac book pro 17 over £2000 when new in the middle of the night i heard a loud noise found out that my laptop was on the floor looked and seen screen was craked and that what looked to me the battery had exploded coursing it to fall on to the floor the was nor warning and have had no recal letters from apple warning me that this may happen . so i phoned up apple and was speacking to some one i have thare name but wont say explaind what had happend an he said that it was normal to my shock as if it landed on any one or poss a pet as it was random .he said it was normal more than once and also i was on speaker phone and had some one else listening .i asked for him to send me what he had said via email but he said he could not so he put me through to some one called katalin who said to ignore what he had said . but at this stage i had two isues one that my expensive laptop is damaged .and the second it thta thay admited liyability by saying it was normal
after many emails and phone calls i think there best offer was if i spend about 184 pound thay would give me a £54 discount which as i have just spent over £2200 on new macbook pro was a bit on an insult
i do under stand that batterys do charge but as i had no warning especial if this was going to happen
if as thay said this is normal as it was bourght from apple direct should thay have sent a letter or email as thay would have had my details warning me that this can randomly happen as in my case .

u can give try to using external enclosre and backup ur files. I hope u will get files back. or using external enclosre with ur hdd boot into Linux and try to mount ur harddisk.
there are multiple no of tutorial to mount apple partion in Linux.

New Macbook Pro Wireless is slower than Old G5 Tower

Less than 2 months out of the box, my 15 inch 2.4Ghz Intel Macbook Pro started acting up.
First, waking it from sleep mode seemed to take longer than normal (5 to 10 seconds?).
Then one day, the battery just went kaput. I did a hardware test and got a hit. Called Apple and they mailed me a new battery in less than 24 hours.
The battery works great. But the sleep thing still seems to take longer than it should.
But the real thing that worries me is how SLOW the wireless connection is... at home, as well as on other people's networks. At home I have an Airport Extreme (not the latest square-shaped model, but the one that looks like a flying saucer). And my G5 Tower dual 1.8 wireless loads pages faster than my Macbook Pro.
I'm no expert, but that's just wrong.
Any thoughts?

that's a good point too, if I'm getting you. People will be putting, quite understandably, in their G5 HDs into their MPs. Tech changes and so too the well being of HDs. It would pay in the end to do a really thorough job of making sure an HD is OK and working well.
Why is it so hard or impossible for Migration Assistant to have "smart" update and know the source is PPC and Apple Partition Table.
Because, I think, they were more concerned with the new machines than the old ones and their users. It didn't slow them down enough to consider the problems new users from G5s would go through.
Bunch of funky stuff all over the place if one looks hard enough, or encounters an extended "bad" day on their Macs. Shows me the tech is still so new and evolving, it seems it will never be complete. And I still think this is only the beginning in the Computer Age. If we make it, these things are going to change the face of the planet, for the better, if we use them right.
