I was told to restore my i phone as my battery wasnt working well. I made sure i backed up my iphone and transferred my purchases before restoring it. When i try to restore it to my back up settings it keeps asking for a password which i dont know?

If your backup is encrypted, you cannot restore without the password.
You can continue to backup but you cannot restore without password.
There's no way to retrieve the password.
Warning: Make sure it's a password you will remember or write it down for safekeeping. If you encrypt an iPhone backup in iTunes and forget your password, you can't restore from backup and your data will be unrecoverable.

i bought my iphone 4 about a year ago and just decided to upgrade it to ios5 just recently. My phone restored to to its factory settings and when I clicked continue restore from back up it is now asking a backup password which i dont remember setting up one. It is NOT a bug. You provided a password. If you can't remember it, you can't restore your phone from backup. Very simple.

that can happen with itunes mode sometimes first thing i want you to do is plug in your phone to your pc/mac
then power it off completely if holding the power button dose not help hold the power button and the home button at the same time it shud power of completly it is verry important that its of and plug in to pc/mac next step
press the power button for 3 secons then while holding the power button press the home button and hold the 2 for 10 secons ifso far you have done corectly the screen will go white and power of after this happens let go of the power button but keep holding the home button for 15 secons your phones screen should stay blank and if done corectly itunes will recogniz the phone the your phone is in dfu mode after your phone is recognized in your pc/mac dont press anf buttons on your phone you should be able to do a restore while in dfu mode if this comes up with erorr -1 you need to retry the prosess 2 more times until sucsesfully if you get any other errors please tell me what thay are so i can see if its software or a hardware fault please also send me the modle number this can be found on the back of your phone -

I changed my email address for my Apple ID. When I want to use iCloud my iPhone doesn't seem to recognize my new email it keeps asking for my password for my old email. I can't update the new address it keeps defaulting to my old one.

First I would like you to try the instructions below to sign out of your iCloud account, and then sign in with your new Apple ID.
iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iCloud.
If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download to your device.
If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID:
Scroll down and tap Delete Account. Depending on what iCloud options are turned on, you'll be asked to confirm that you want to delete data from your device. To confirm, tap Delete. (If you're using iOS 7 and have Find My iPhone turned on, you'll be asked to enter the password for your previous Apple ID. Enter the password, then tap Turn Off.) The data will be deleted from your device, but not from iCloud.
Enter your current Apple ID to sign in. The data from your iCloud account will download again to your device.

Options for when an iOS device gets locked because of forgotten password:
Restore (and reset password) on your device by connecting it to the last computer to which it was connected:

I am trying to put my ipad back to factory settings and it keeps asking for my original Id which is the reason I am needing to reset it. When I try to do this via password prompts it asks for my date of birth which I enter correctly and it tells me it is incorrect and then trying the email route this does not send any emails to the registered accounts I set up originally - help!!
My guess is all the issues are probably related and fall back to malware.
AVG is probably correct in identifying malware. So I suggest you try some cleaning tools other than Emsisoft .
ones I use (all of them one after the other until I find one that can cope) are;

Malwarebytes anti malware Free http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/var2/confirm/

So first create a clean boot in Windows using Microsoft's instructions https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135?wa=wsignin1.0 and then run the anti malware applications.
My outside looking in guess is that malware has set itself up as an internet proxy and is is downloading copies of itself and other malware, blocking some mail port as times as downloading more malware is more important, and probably breaking your tivo as well..
Try the malware programs first. If that does not work I will try and talk you through some logging to see what is happening.
