I was trying to download a free app from the iTunes Store,and was asked to update my method of payment. I did ,and was denied. Why was I denied if the app is free?

I Was downloading a free app from the iTunes Store ,and could not it said because no money in my method of payment .if it is free why do I need to have a method of payment?

If you didn't setp your iTunes account, from the beginning, without a credit card, you'll have to either add a credit card to your account or redeem an iTunes gift card, regardless of whether the app is free or not.

    What you have on your computer is your iTunes library, not an "account." 
    Did you download and install the latest version of iTunes, which is available here?

    If you have an earlier version, it may not support the most recent iPod nano, which could explain why Windows does not have the device driver to identify it.

    If you have an existing ID, & you don't want to use a credit card, you'll have to redeem an iTunes gift card. If you don't want to do that, you'll have to create a new ID by following the directions here, EXACTLY:

    You can't transfer any content from one account to another account (nor can accounts be merged) - all content will remain tied to the account that downloaded it.
    Do you not have copies of all of your downloads e.g. on your computer or backup of your downloads/library ? Whilst you are in Australia you can't redownload your UK purchases (you have to be in a country to use its store), if you have them on your computer's iTunes library then you should be able to stream them from it to your Apple TV

    You can't - not unless you have a credit card with a US mailing address to create a US iTunes store account even for a free app. This is required and due to licensing and other issues in each country, which Apple has nothing to do with. It is up to ABC News to license and provide their free app via the iTunes app store in France.

    If your Apps were purchased with his Apple ID, it will still require his Apple ID to update them.  If they were purchased with your Apple ID then it will use yours.  Apps are linked to the Apple ID they are purchased with.
    If, for some reason his Apple ID is set somewhere in the system, this article gives how to change it.

    App Store
    iOS 6 and later: Go to Settings > iTunes & App Store.
    If you signed out before changing your Apple ID, sign in with your current Apple ID.
    If you're still signed in with your previous Apple ID, tap your previous Apple ID and tap Sign Out. Then enter your current Apple ID to sign in.

  • TS1398 I cannot connect to the itunes store on my Iphone to update some apps.

    I have tried to reset my wifi, turn off my phone and more. The wifi works fine on it for everything else, I can search apps but just cant download them or update them! It has not worked for hours, and it is not my pw problem because I just used it to sign in on my laptop to ask this question. If you have ANY advise that be great!

    Try Settings > Store > Apple ID > Sign out.
    Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
    Note: You will not lose any data.
    Go to the same location and sign in again.

    This sounds like the kinda thing Apple support might be able to help with. It's possible they might be able to merge the 2 accounts or switch user names around or something.
    Apps and Protected music files are locked to one account. I don't think there is any way you(personaly) can transfer and/or updated them on a different account.

    All music I ever purchased in iTunes is showing up as no longer available and is impossible to download. Thing is I can still find every single one of those albums when searching for them in iTunes Store. All of them is showing up with a price tag button next to them.
    Is this how iTunes Store work? The albums get removed from my account after a year or so and if I suffer a complete hard drive failure I have to purchase everything again? Sounds like a rather crap deal if that is the case...

    Have an itunes US store account with some app purchases and an itunes GR store with some other app purchases.
    Is there anyway to transfer the purchases from the US store account to the GR store account in order to use only that?

    why don't you simply authorize iTunes to play/use content purchased from either account ?
    that's basically very easy. all you have to do is +log out+ of one account (click on the account name in the Store window and select sign out from the pop-up dialog) and into the other, and then they will both be authorized (be sure to just *log out*, not de-authorize ).

    You should not have to log into the iTunes store on your computer. I don't have to do that and I just tried on both my computer and my iPad to be sure. Try any or all of these things to see if it helps at all. The only exception I can think of would be if you were trying to download apps larger than 20MG via 3G on the iPad.
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    Quit iTunes on the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Quit iTunes by double tapping the home button and the task bar will appear with all of you recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on the iTunes app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner to close the apps. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

    I had the exact same problem yesterday when i tried to get some music from the store. The same messages appeared on my screen. I just waited for an hour or so and logged on again with no problem. I was able to download music normally. Perhaps there was a momentary glitch at the iTunes store at that time.
    You might try to log on again and see what happens.

    iTunes content downloaded with more than one iTunes account can be in the same iTunes library, which requires constantly logging in and out of each iTunes account with iTunes as needed. There is no device limit for the number of iPods, iPads, and iPhones that can be synced with the same iTunes library on the same computer.
    What you can't do is transfer iTunes content that includes DRM protection from one iTunes account to another iTunes account. All 3rd party apps include DRM protection which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the apps. You can't switch the DRM with 3rd party apps downloaded with one iTunes account to another iTunes account, or combine the DRM with apps downloaded with more than one iTunes account. The same applies to any other iTunes content that includes DRM protection. All music purchased from the iTunes store used to include DRM protection but no longer, but all movies and tv shows purchased from the iTunes store continues to include DRM protection as with 3rd party apps which is tied to the iTunes account used to download the content.
