I was trying to move 4000 photos to a storage drive and somehow it ended up on my desk top. Now it is frozen. I have powered down a few times and still comes back up but you cannot do anything.

Try to wait it out. Moving 4000 photos to the desktop can take a long time. After awhile, if the mac responds go to edit - undo move. That may place the photos back in their original location.

How to move referenced photos to external hard drive and maintain "faces"

I created an iphoto library on an external hard drive. I chose not to copy imported photos to iphoto (reference instead) under iphoto preferences. I dragged a large folder of photos from my internal hard drive to iphoto and spent countless hours adding faces to all the photos. I now decide i want these pictures referenced from the external drive too, not the internal. I moved the file of folders to my external drive and of course iphoto now cant find these referenced pictures. I do "find photo" and point to where i moved these photos on the external drive and all works, until i close iphoto and restart it. (in other words, iphoto doesnt remember the new location i pointed to)
Is there a way to move the referenced photos to the external drive and still have iphoto faces work correctly?

This is just one of the many reasons that a referenced library is not recommended with iPhoto

How do I move organized photos from dropbox to iPhoto and share with another user on the same mac?

I have about 3,500 photos sitting in dropbox and just purchased my first mac yesterday. My husband and I each have our own Ipad and our own user id's on the mac. I moved two of the folders to Iphoto and it shows up on my screen in the right folders. However, on my Ipad, it shows all of them under one Photostream and not organized. They don't show up on my husband's "side of the computer" at all.
So my questions are:
1. How does one mirror their file organization on the Ipad?
2. How does one share all of the folders with another user on the same Ipad so they can view folders, and add pictures to the folders if they like?

If you use the Photo Stream, the organisation in iPhoto will be lost - there is just one endless stream. YOu could sync your photos using iTunes. Then you will see the synced albums in the Photos.app on the iPad.

On the same iPad? Do you mean on the same mac?
If you want to share an iPhoto library between two users on the same mac, the iPhoto library should be on a separate disk partition or even better, on a separate external disk. Then you can set the flag "Ignore ownership on this volume" to avoid permission problems. Both of you will be able to browse the iPhoto library and can edit the photos within.

If both of you want to keep separate iPhoto libraries but share the photos, you could share selected albums as Shared PhotoStreams and invite each other to browse them. This would require iOS 7. Do you have iOS 7 on your iPad? Each Shared Photo Stream will be shown as a separate album on your iPad .

The photo app puts files in date/time order and ignores their names.
You can look for another app that may honor file names (sorry, I don't know any to recommend) or you can find a program that alters your file properties. If all the files have properties that read the same date and time, then it defaults to alphabetical order

I have recently re-built my PC and downloaded Firefox again. I have appeared to have done this successfully, but the desktop icon refuses to work. I have tried opening firefox from everywhere on my pc. Do i need to turn on anything to get this to work?

Other info....My OS is windows Vista. I can give you full spec of PC, however not sure that will help here. The desk top icon that appears after downloading Firefox 5 appears to be dead when i double click it. I do not get an egg timer or anything. I want to use lightroom on a surface pro. My Lightroom catalogue will be on a 64gb thumbdrive so I can use it between my stationary computer and the portable one. Since my Smart Preview folder is much larger than 64gb, can I put it on the internal hard drive in the surface keep my catalogue on the thumbdrive and point lightroom to the smart preview folder?

No, my smart preview catalogue is 160gb and I don't want to carry around an external hard drive, using the catalgue on a low profile thumbdrive solves the issue of using two computers, If I can figure out away to point the program to the smart previews, then I would be in business, since the images would synch up when I get home again.
