Contacts are designed to be synced to a supported application on the computer or a cloud service.
Pictures taken with the device are designed to regularly be copied off the device to a computer as would be done with any digital camera.
If you have failed to use the device as designed it may be too late to recovery anything.
Is the device regularly backed up to a computer via iTunes? If so, the most recent backup (when restored to a replacement iOS device) should contain all contacts and pictures as of when the backup was created.

How to transfer music from my iPhone to my new mac book pro itunes
I would like to transfer my music from my iphone into my new macbook pro itunes
Questions:
Is the music from iTunes store or other source?
Do you have an iTunes or iCloud account?
What kind of Internet connection(s) do you have available?
If you have an iTunes account and purchased the music there, you can just make sure the new MacBook is using the same account as the phone and sync, or look at the Purchased list on the left side in iTunes on the Mac. You should see your past purchases there and they will download and play as needed.
If your music isn't iTunes purchased, I don't know how to do it... someone will.

How can i transfer songs from my iPhone 4s to new mac
I recently got a new MacBook (My first one ) but the problem is my old PC crashed and I lost all of my songs that were on that computer. The only songs I have left are on my iPhone. Is there anyway I could simply transfer the songs on my iPhone to my new MacBook? of course, when I go to "sync" my phone to my new iTunes, which is my old account, it says that everything will be erased and what is in my new iTunes library (which is empty) will be transfered to my phone.
Please help!!!! I am still learning this MacBook so please forgive my stupidity! Go Team Apple!Re-downloading all your purchased music (apps, ibooks, videos, everything) is easy if you purchased them from Apple. Assuming they are still available, you simply download them again: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
Retrieving music that you copied from CD or other sources is not easy. Music is supposed to go from your computer to the iPhone, not the other way around. Moving its content to a computer is contrary to the design.
I wish I had a dollar for everyone with a Windows PC who asked this question. Given their predilection for attracting viruses and other sordid malware, Windows PCs crash with disturbing regularity. Now that you made the wise decision to replace it with a MacBook, get an external backup disk (external hard disk drive, or Time Capsule) and simply use Time Machine. Plug it in and Time Machine does the rest. The drudgery of backing up your system becomes painless and totally forgettable, and recovering from a crash becomes a non-event.
Here is some guidance retrieved from an old post. Since it is old, some of the links may not work:
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads etc) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
How to use your iPod to move your music to a new computer (does not apply to the iPod Touch) -
I tried to transfer purchases from my iPod to a new computer, but for some of the songs it asks for a different Apple ID and password than mine. Ideas?
You definitely need to resurrect the old password associated with the Apple ID you used to purchase the music.
Go here: https://iforgot.apple.com
An email will be sent to the email address associated with that account with instructions regarding resetting that Apple ID's password.
If you no longer have access to that email, the resolution to this problem becomes considerably more difficult. In that event you would need to contact iTunes Support and explain your dilemma. -
Transfer apps from my iPhone to a new PC after my old one was stolen
I had iTunes installed on my PC which was recently stolen, I have since bought a new PC and re-installed iTunes. I have managed to transfer music from my iPhone to my new PC, however, how do I sync my iPhone apps to the iTunes installed on my new PC without loosing them all. My current problem is that iTunes wants to wipe all my apps when I try to sync? I'm new to all this, so help would be appreciated, many thanks.
Launch iTunes on your computer.
Now go to the menu bar top of your screen click Store / Authorize This Computer
You should be able to sync your iPhone now.
If you are a resident of the U.S., have iTunes 10.3 or later installed, you can re download iTunes purchases for free.
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store -

How can I transfer Music from my iphone 4s to my mac?
I can't figure out how to transfer Music from my iPhone 4s to my Mac. I read somewhere that iCloud can do this, but I couldn't find how to do it; I don't see Music in my iCloud. And connecting the iphone to the Mac doesn't show anywhere to transfer, except to Sync, which erases former music.
You can only transfer purchased music from your iphone to your Mac. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
otherwise it is a one way sync itunes to iphone for music. -
I cleaned up my mac and now all my applications are gone. I try to open them and it has a question mark on the app icon. Everything from System prefrences, Everything in itunes, iphoto, preview and mail? Please help
These question marks are on your dock? And you can't open applications from your dock?
If so, try this: Open a new finder window and navigate to the Applications folder in your hard disk. The applications in question should still be in there (the Applications folder). So drag each of the application icons that you want to be available on your dock from the Applications folder onto your dock, one by one. Take each of your question mark icons that are on the dock and drag them off the dock to get rid of them. See if that fixes you up.
Now, if your hard disk no longer has an Applications folder in it, or the Applications folder is empty, you are going to have to reinstall OS 10.6 then do a software update to bring you back up to OS 10.6.8. You may be able to just go to the "optional installs" folder on the installer DVD and maybe all the stock applications are there -- I don't remember and I don't have an installer DVD handy to look. That would be way easier than doing a full blown OS reinstall. Also, as I recall, if OS 10.6 was on the computer when you bought it from the store, I think there should be an "extras" DVD that has a handful of applications that could be reinstalled from it, too. -
How do I transfer my music from my iPhone to my new Macbook Pro?
I'm wondering how I can transfer my music, etc from my iPhone to my new Macbook Pro?
The iphone is not a storage/backup device. The syncis one way - computer to iphone. The only exception is itunes purchases: File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You should copy everything from your old computer or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one. -

how do i transfer music from my iphone to my new laptop
You might find this page for syncing to a new computer useful : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141
For iTunes purchases File > Devices > Transfer Purchases should copy them over. For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) then if you haven't got it on a backup drive and you don't still have your old computer with it (copying music between computers) then there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them off your phone : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991 -
