I was trying to update my ipad mini from 7.0.4 to 7.1.1. after updating it went for restarting and from then its showing only the apple logo but nothing else. i can't restart my ipad. i tried to restore from my back up. its not working.......what should i

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

What to do now when my iPad won't turn on after I turn it off. It shows only the apple logo. I am sure it has above 70% charge as when I sync my iPad it shows necessary detail in iTunes. I have tried, HOME & POWER button, but did not work.
First try a Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least Ten seconds... (But can take Longer)... until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons
If no joy... Try a Restore...
1: Connect the device to Your computer and open iTunes.
2: If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane.

How long have you had your phone? Because if you've had it a long time, the battery in the phone might of died on you. Or have you dropped it in water, snow, from high up? All those things could of disconnected something internally in your phone, or permentaly damaged the internal hard drive its self, or the sims card.

What happens if you try a hard reset? To do this, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.
If its still stuck at the Apple logo, try connecting it to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restoring it.

While updating my ipod it crashed and now all I get is the apple logo on the screen.
I clicked on the update operating system that had a notification next to it. It downloaded for a long while then asked me to hook up to itunes. I didi and it said it was downloading again . Then updating. Then said update failed and now all that shows on the screen is the apple logo. Also

Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to performunauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. Uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer.
Edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from your hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect. For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. i set up my moms new desktop mac a couple of weeks ago and i did the same thing i tried to do on my macbook but its not working, yet it worked on my moms mac. so i dont know what to do. i moved the file from the hard drive to the itunes folder. then went to itunes, file add to library and clicked on the folder but nothing happened. so i went back and moved the music folder to the automatically download to itunes folder and it didnt work. i even tried drap and dropping the folder directly into the itunes library. it went blue so i knew you could drop it in, but nothing happened. i dont understand how it worked on my moms mac but not mine.
FIle>Add To Library. Select all the music on your external hard (Select all the artist folders) drive and hit OK. This will add all the music to your new Mac's iTunes library file.

I have a red X in a circle which sometimes changes to the apple logo but nothing else happens after i try every suggestion; Windows nor itunes does not recognise the ipod; what do you suggest?
You could possibly try a restore from itunes or from the ipod itself, otherwise go get it looked at/replaced, that sounds like a software issue.

My ipad2 has suddenly decided not to connect to the internet either through Safari or email. My WiFi signal is strong and all other devices in my house are connecting ok. I have tried pressing the home and off buttons together to get the Apple Logo but this has not changed anything, still cannot connect. I have just realised what has caused the problem.
Yesterday I fitted an additional Homeplug with built in wireless N adapter ( I alreday have another type fitted from my main router position) The wireless system to my ipad is obviously "confused" . Having now removed the second homeplug and reset my ipad all is now ok -

I downloaded the latest iOS7 to my iPad and then the screen went blank and would not respond. I have tried pressing the two buttons together and briefly get the Apple logo but still can not restart, the logo disappears. I have tried connecting to my iMac to restore the iPad but the device does not show up (I have an old iMac). What else can I do?
You need to be running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 at the very least in order to sync your iPad with iTunes so you could update your Mac, if it can be updated, and if you care to do so.
If that's not an option, you will have to find someone that can restore the device for you with their computer running iTunes or make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them to restore the device for you.
I hope that you have an iCloud backup, because you will lose everything on the device when it is restored.

Also, I would not give up on the reset technique....holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears. It takes about 10-15 seconds and sometimes just a little longer to get the logo to appear. -

You will need to restore the software via the following procedure:
Turn your device off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your device and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a device in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings. -
