  • Can't open large (5M+) pdf files in Firefox 4

    When I try to open a large pdf file Firefox gives up after awhile. Files smaller that 5M seem to be OK. I have updated my Acrobat plugin and set my internet preferences to display pdf in browser.
    I didn't have this problem in version 3.6.

    I was able to get mine working by disabling the "Adobe PDF Plug-In for Firefox and Netscape..." that was installed by Adobe Acrobat. It's in the Firefox Add-ons Manager > Plugins section.

    Hi BalusC,
    thanks for your immediate response.
    as you correctly pointed out its not XLS but a csv file that works fine.
    I just tried my luck for XLS file, but as you said it does not work for XLS file as well. original file contained images which were lost
    after the download and garbage characters got inserted in.
    I will have a look at the code you have given link of.
    but for reading/writing I am using inputstream/outputstream but doing that through reader and writer.
    like this
    br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(
    fileName.toString()), charsetName));
    and for writing
    outputStream = new BufferedWriter(new OutputStreamWriter(
    response.getOutputStream(), charsetName));
    you mean to say I should not use reader writer?

  • Why am I unable to open on line pdf files using Adobe Reader version XI?

    When we go online to view pdf versions of statements at our bank's web site we are unable to view anything but a blank Adobe document. We are unable to download the file to our computer so there is no way for us to view the document. We have Mozilla version 29.0.1 and Adobe Reader XI. Is there anything we can do to correct the issue?

    Have you tried using the reader as a helper application? Will any other PDF reader work?

  • I am unable to view or download PDF files using Firefox that used to open automatically.

    Reading some of the other comments on the support site I wonder if in my haste in making sure I didn't get that malware virus if I didn't perhaps accidentally delete a necessary plug-in for Adobe Reader?  I'd appreciate any advice.  Thank you!

    If you use extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extension) like <i>Adblock Plus</i> or <i>NoScript</i> or <i>Flash Block</i> that can block content then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    See:
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

    I've done the dance with going to Library/internet plug-ins and there isn't anything there that refers to Adobe. I only have 4 plug-ins anyway.

    I've got Adobe set up in settings to update automatically. I went to Adobe regardless and went to install Adobe reader and it said I already had it installed.
    Anyone have an idea where to go from here?

    Hi.  My new computer had Acrobat on it.  Suddenly, I was unable to open any PDF's.  and then I tried to update and was forwarded to the Adobe site that said I had to buy a monthly subscription.  I do not have the physical box with a serial number and was going to buy the one advertised on the website until I discovered it's only for students and teachers, which I am not.  What should I do next as I need to use PDFs on a daily basis.  Thanks!  I would like to be able to download this and pay online.  Possible? I currently have Adobe Acrobat XI Pro.  I have a Windows 7 system.  Please help!

    As long as you know your serial number you can download PSE from here:

    Fix for StringEscapeUtils:
    Clear out existing class files to ensure they get regenerated from the updated JSP files
    Navigate to HYPERION_HOME\deployments\Websphere6\profile\temp\hyslNode\FinancialReporting\HReports\hr.war
    Backup the hr.war directory
    Search for *.class file under hr.war
    Delete existing class files
    Add HYPERION_HOME\common\JakartaCommons\commons-lang-2.1.jar to Financial Reporting classpath in WebSphere Admin Console.
    Open WAS Admin Console
    Select Servers->Application Servers
    Select Financial Reporting
    Expand Java Process Management
    Select Process Definition
    Select Java Virtual Machine
    Add "HYPERION_HOME\common\JakartaCommons\commons-lang-2.1.jar" to Classpath (Note: Replace HYPERION_HOME with actual path.)
    Apply and Save the changes
    Restart FR Web App
    I am marking this as correct answer, So that it might help others for their debugging.
    Cheers!

  • I am unable to open my own pdfs in Photoshop

    I am unable to open my own pdfs in my Photoshop (ones that I have created in same Photoshop). Can anyone advise?
    I get the message "This is not a valid Portable Document File (PDF) document. It cannot be opened."
    I have to keep recreating the art...ugh!! Is there a way to pull up history to replicate my artwork until I get this resolved??

    History (as indicated in the History Panel) is deleted when closing a file.
    Photoshop > Preferences > General > History Log could be used to get a list of performed steps, but this is not directly executable.
    ScriptingListener.plugin can be used to record operations, but not everything in Photoshop is recordable thusly.
    As for the issue with the pdfs:
    Which settings do you use exactly when saving pdfs?
    Is there a chance the drive you save to is faulty?
    Boilerplate-text:
    Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by keeping command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift pressed while starting Photoshop after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)?
