I was updating my iPhone 4 and it is now un ressponsive. What do I do?
I was in the process of updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 and kept on getting three quarters of the way through to the 'Veryfying update with Apple' stage and then error code 3004 or 3200 would appear in iTunes.
I kept on trying to update it and then after a few attempts iTunes reported that it 'detected an iPhone in Recovery Mode' and the iPhone appeared to be in Recovery (DFU) mode and the iPhone was completely unusable, and only displayed the iTunes logo and the 30-pin connector USB (like when out of box), hey thank god for the retina display, I can see optimum quality iTunes logo, LOL.
I then tried to atleast restore the iPhone to get a working iPhone, but this failed with error code 3200.
Then the iPhone is now not even going into Recovery (DFU) mode and iTunes cant see the iPhone.
So the iPhone is basically bricked.
Just to let you know, the iPhone is not jailbroken or unlocked.

Can someone please answer the question? My phone did the exact same thing and is now bricked, i also never jailbroke or unlocked my phone. Cant get it into dfu or reconized by itunes, no OS. Phone is stuck on plug into itunes screen.

Connect your phone to iTunes. You will probably get a pop-up telling your it detected your phone in recovery mode and that it needs to be restored.

Go to ITunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices and see if your backup is still listed with the time stamp from before the update. If yes, use this backup to restore from after you connected in recovery mode to restore, explained here:

I was updating my iPhone 4 to iOS 7 today and before I did, I backed my phone up into iCloud. Then while it was updating an error occured and now itunes is telling me the only way to power up my phone is to restore the whole device. Is it possible to power up my phone without restoring the whole device? Or without loosing everything?
Not if the error says to restore in iTunes. You should have made a backup before the update, so you should be able to restore to that backup. But with the device in recovery mode as it is, there is no way to backup anything at this time. If you did not make a backup before updating then you can only restore to your latest backup, whenever that was. If no backup at all, then you will have to restore the device as new, losing everything.

If your iPhone wont power on, I recommend going through these steps first:

Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Was updating my iPhone 4 to the latest ios and now stuck in recovery mode.
Was updating my iPhone 4 to the latest ios 5.1 (i believe) and a error message came up (didn't make a note of the error code sorry) but now phone is stuck in recovery mode with the USB wire and iTunes logo on. PC wont reconise iPhone when plug it in either. I had to delete an old back up before the update as i didn't have enough space on PC to do the update before but was told that during the update it backs up again anyway. I have looked in Device backup's and there is nothing there I have a feeling i'm going to have to restore it but hopefully there is another way as i wont be left with anything on the phone.
Any help please.
Many Thanks.Sorted it now, took it to Apple store and explained etc. was nothing could do but restore the phone. Was told to make sure itunes on PC was up-to-date version before updating iphone which could have caused the error.
