I was using my iPhone 5 and the screen randomly went black. I can still hear incoming calls but the screen stays black and unresponsive and stays black. My lock button stopped working last week so I can't restart the phone. What can I do to solve this?
I had an appointment this morning with Apple to try and solve the problem with my lock button ranomly not working anymore and a few hours before my appointment with the Apple store i was using my phone and my screen randomly went black and stopped working. And the p.roblem now i cant use it. I tried restarting the phone but I can't restart it due to my lock button not working so i need help with a solution on what i can do. I missed my appointment today because i could no longer use my phone and i'm now stuck using my laptop. I did also try connecting it to my MacBook but the screen was still unresponsive and black. I rescheduled my appointment to Monday to see what is wrong with my button and screen but in the meanwhile i would like to know if there is anything i can do or if i would just have to wait until monday and take it in to Apple. Any help would be really appreciated as i am phonelss for now until i take it in to Apple in a few days. Thanks.

It sounds like your phone is not successfully booting even though you have reset the device. I would next recommend attempting a backup and restore to iTunes with this article:

My computer won't play videos from site like the Daily Show and the CW, but they stopped working last week. I have the newest version of Adobe player. Anyone know why the full videos will not play?

Extensions like Ghostery, WOT or AdBlock stop working after two or three times. Restarting the webpage in a new tab the extensions will work again for several times and then stop again. Has anybody an explanation or a workaround for this bug in Safari 5?
Remove the extensions, redownload Safari, reload the extensions.

I have a iPhone 5 and about a month ago my lock button stopped working. It takes me about ten tries to power it back on or to lock it. If I'm still in my one year warranty will I have to pay to get it fixed? I didn't purchase apple care though so I'm wondering if it's going to cost me to get it fixed or if it's still covered because of the one year warranty? Thank you!
If it's due to a manufacturing defect, the warranty will cover it. If it's due to accidental damage, it'll cost to get it fixed unless it happened during an authorized repair.

Nobody here can possible speak for Apple whether it is a warranty failure or not. You need to take it into an Apple store or send it to Apple and have them evaluate it. If they decide it is a warranty failure and you are still within your warranty period, then yes, it will be replaced with a factory refurbished unit for free.
If it is determined to be due to something you have done, then the warranty does not apply and you would have to pay the out of warranty replacement fee. -
Volume and Lock buttons stopped working after new iOS 4.3.3 update (ipod 4th gen)
After I updated my ipod with the iOS 4.3, the volume and lock buttons stopped working.
This has happened before and it'sprobably one of the most annoying problems ever.
The lock button tends to stop working but then works again only when it wants to, but the volume buttons dont work at all.
When the locked button worked again I turned it off and turned it on again, but it didnt fix the problem.
I've pretty much tried everything that I've read and nothing seems to work.
So now, I don't know what to do.
Should I take it to a random apple store or to where I bought it from?
It seems that it's happening to almost everyone, so at least I'm not the only one and maybe someone can help me outIf you have restored in iTunes on a computer and the problem remains then it's a hardware fault and it needs to be repaired. When you update the iOS version on an iOS device it checks the hardware components, this is when it'll detect un-diagnosed hardware faults and the components will stop working... even if they were working previously

I have been using Photos since the update. I had no problems until last week when it stopped working. Despite the fact that I've been using it, it opens to the welcome splash screen with the "Get Started" button. When I click it, the wheel starts spinning and that's all that happens until eventually force quit it using the apple menu. Can anyone help?
OK, so apparently you have the MBW connected via the software equivelent of a crossover cable- ethernet frames but no routing. Not sure what negative impact that has or doesn;t have. Certainly its not how the drive was intended to work - it would be far easier to just have a USB connection for that.
WD software in general has a very bad history. Note that some drives have been lost entirely due to incompatability with Mavericks - read the tips section here for mroe details, btu i would NOT use it.
I cant help you with WD software. But the first task is to access the drive and make sure you can communicate with it. I would go to the main drive to do that. From there you should be abke to remove the partition for the backup, and begin over with something less troublesome - such as Carbon Copy Cloner, Time MAchine ( i dont use it and did nt much like it) or , my preferred method, good old unix rsync.
In any event, your prpoblem is one of authorization. So first see if the drive is responding in general ( try to access it the normal way), then move to that particular volume.

Cut and paste in all applications stopped working last week
I'm running a 2.8GHz i7 and OS 10.9.2.
Last week I noticed I could not copy and paste any text from any application - word, safari, firefox, excel, mail, notes. Nothing!
I've got three accounts on my machine: mine, kids, and Guest. Copy and paste works on those accounts, but not mine.

MarcusTry booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account and see if it works there. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don't do them all at once.

A couple of weeks ago my iphone 4's lock button randomly stopped working, I had never dropped my iphone so I couldn't figure out why this had occurred. I did not see this as a big problem until recently when my iphone stopped charging. The iPhone had worked just as normal the day before it stopped charging. I usually charge my iphone over night, but one night it reached around 85% and stopped charging. I have tried it with several different iphone chargers and different plugs in the house but still the iPhone wouldn't charge. Now my iphone has ran out of battery and due to the fact that my lock button is broken, I can't try anything to turn it on. Does my battery need replacing?
