I wasn to save my bookmarks in bookmark tab instead of unsorted bookmarks by default. What to do?

Currently all my bookmarks are being saved in unsorted bookmarks bu default. I want to save my bookmarks in bookmark tab (as in google chrome) by default. what is to be done?

One click on the star button adds a bookmark in the unsorted bookmarks, as you say. Clicking the button again, though, will open a panel that lets you edit the bookmark. In this, you can select the bookmarks folder you want to move the new bookmark to.
If you always want to do that, you can just double-click the button.

  • Problem: Unsorted bookmarks appear in bookmarks menu, but fail to appear in Library/unsorted bookmarks.

After a virus attack ... and recovery (I'm clean now) I removed (shouldn't have) these files from: bookmarks.bak and files from the .../Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ca1ytozj.default\bookmarkbackups folder. I then reinstalled 3.6 and imported an html bookmarks file.
The problem started then. Additionally each time firefox restarted, my imported bookmarks would completely disappear and I would have to import them again. So then I uninstalled firefox 3.6 saving personal data & prefs, and installed 4.01.
Same problem with unsorted bookmarks showing in the bookmarks menu but NOT showing in Library/unsorted bookmarks. As to whether my imported bookmarks disappear on a restart of firefox 4.01, I don't yet know because I got started on this problem report.
I think what I need to do in uninstall and choose NOT to save personal data & prefs

Immediately after posting above I force quit firefox and restarted.
Unsorted bookmarks still appear in bookmarks menu but NOT in Library/unsorted bookmarks.
This time, however my imported bookmarks didn't disappear on the restart.
    Thanks.

  • I cannot view my unsorted bookmarks in the library, only in the drop down tab

I want a simple way to organize my unsorted bookmarks. In old versions of Firefox, this was easy using the "organize bookmarks". Now, all I see is "unsorted bookmarks" and I can't view the individual bookmarks, so I can sort them. I can only view bookmarks in a folder. How do I view and sort my unsorted bookmarks? thanks

Do you see the unsorted bookmarks in the Bookmarks sidebar (Ctrl + B) ?

  • Open All in Tabs, opens bookmarks in new tabs and leaves current tab open instead of changing to the first bookmark

Whenever I click the "Open All in Tabs", it opens all the bookmarks in new tabs instead of opening the first bookmark in the current tab and the rest in new tabs.
happens on all 3 of my computers running 8.0a1

This isn't possible anymore, due to the fact that this Boolean entry has been removed: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=395024
    <br />
In my Firefox Aurora 8.0a2 (Windows 7, but Ubuntu 10.10 as well) the current behaviour could be described as follows: <br />
    Open all in tabs
<ul><li>Normal click: opens all in new tabs, changes focus to first one opened;</li>
<li>Ctrl + click: opens all in new tabs, changes focus to first one opened;</li>
<li>Shift + click: opens all in new window, changes focus to first one (tab) opened;</li>
<li>Ctrl + Shift + click: opens all in new tabs, doesn't change focus.</li></ul>
    <br />
Whereas I would like it to be as follows: <br />
    Open all in tabs
<ul><li>Normal click: opens all but the first one (which overwrites current) in new tabs, doesn't change focus (due to the fact that the first item is already in the focused tab); in short, it changes the currently focused to the first item from the folder and appends its' rest on the right side;</li>
<li>Ctrl + click: opens all in new tabs, doesn't change focus;</li>
<li>Shift + click: opens all in new window, changes focus to the first one (tab) opened;</li>
<li>Ctrl + Shift: opens all in new tabs, doesn't change focus.</li></ul>
    <br />
This behaviour was present a few versions ago and only lately have I looked for the solution to this. I encountered many bug files regarding this topic with people speaking against Firefox's behaviour that would close existing tabs when opening all in new tabs (from a folder), which possibly influenced the change that I would like to be reverted.
    <br />
Please let me know if it is possible to attain the behaviour I described.

  • We have a new iPad Mini.  I cannot save a new Bookmark.  In Safari, I go to "Share" and select "Add a Bookmark" yet when I click on the Bookmarks icon, my saved Bookmark is not there.  Am I doing something wrong?

We have a new iPad Mini, and I'm having inconsistent results using Bookmarks in the Safari icon.
For a long time, on the iPad, I could only see five items under the Bookmark icons and the Bookmarks Bar was empty.
Occasionally, in Safari, the iPad would pick up and display all of the Bookmarks from the Safari browser on my iMac.
Other times, there are only a bare few Bookmarks available on the iPad, the Bookmarks Bar goes away and I cannot save a new Bookmark.  It looks like I can save one, but I cannot find it after allegedly saving.
Then, all of the Bookmarks will come back and I can save a new Bookmark again. We can't figure out why all of the Bookmarks will show and then they won't.
I want to think this involves iCloud some way, but for right now, I'm stumped.  Perhaps we're just too inexperienced and haven't come around the learning curve yet.
    Thanks for any help.
    Steve

No, I see the three areas at the bottom of the Bookmark area that you refer to, but that also highlights an issue.  When I want to save a story to my Reading List and click on Share then "Add to Reading List" then go back to look at what is stored in the Reading List, my recently-saved item is not there.
I looked thru the History tab and the Reading List tab and have been in the Bookmark tab.  But even when I Save a Bookmark, that newly-saved Bookmark does not show up in the Bookmark area.
But then again, the next day (and actually just in the last half-hour) all of the functionality came back.  When I look at the Bookmarks, suddenly, again, all of the Bookmarks that are on my Safari browser on my iMac are now there, and I can now Save a Bookmark.
It keeps coming in and out and that is what is driving me a little nuts.
    Thanks.

  • Can no longer save a new bookmark directly to one of my foldersin bookmarks w/o saving, then dragging it from recently bookmarked. Any way to go back to old style of brining up list of folders in the gray box when adding a new bookmark?

Until a recent update in Firefox, I could always save a new bookmark to the folder of my choice by using the drop down list in the gray box that comes up when I chose to bookmark a site. Now only a few of my folders - probably most recents - show up and I can't seem to access the whole list. I now have to go to "recently bookmarked" and drag the bookmark from there to the folder of choice. Any way to restore the ability to make it a one stop save to my folders like I used to? Thanks.

  • How do I save a Tab Session as a Bookmark?

I am using Firefox 4.0. I have several windows open, each with multiple tabs. Each time I restart Firefox, I am gratified to see all of the previous windows and tabs pop open and are restored, however, the reload time is agonizing at my bandwidth.
Each of the windows has multiple tabs that are related: hobby sites, medical info sites, technical lookups, etc. In an older version of Firefox, I was able close a window and save a complete set of tabs as a bookmark folder labelled "session 1 (2,3,etc.)" in only a few simple clicks. That feature appears to be missing in Firefox 4.0
Short of manually creating a bookmark folder, bookmarking each tabbed page separately, and then editing the bookmark list to move all of the bookmarked tabs to that new folder, is there a convenient way to perform a bookmark save of the session in a specific window, so I can close that whole window but still be able to get it back at a future time/date?

    Yes! :-)
Thanks. That creates a bookmark folder I've moved to my bookmarks toolbar. I'll get used to the "Open All Tabs" process very quickly.
    Nice solution. Thanks.

  • How do I get rid of Firefox as its awfully slow and has lost all my favourites which are not in the unsorted bookmarks file?

I was told by eBay to set up Mozilla Firefox as I had problems uploading scans on to listings. I now find I have lost all my favourites and there is nothing in the unsorted bookmarks, where you told me they would be. Also it has slowed down my computer considerably, and seems to want to have about ten goes every time you try to get into a website. So it seems totally useless to me, and I want to revert to Internet Explorer. Why is MF such a useless system and how do I delete it - I am very elderly busy computer operator with ;ittle knowledge of systems, what you call things and so on, so please keep it simple. Jeremy

From Bookmarks (at top left of page) select 'Show All Bookmarks'. This will open the bookmarks Library. Have a look around here to see if your bookmarks (favourites) are all there. If so, you can now export them for use in other browsers. Why not take the opportunity to tidy or restrucure them before export?
To export them select 'Import and Backup' then 'Export HTML'. Save the file to somewhere safe on your PC, My Documents perhaps.
I use an Uninstaller Program so I'm not too sure but I think you can uninstall Firefox > Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox - and there's possibly an uninstall option here. Failing this, go to the Program folder and find the 'uninstall' folder, double click 'helper.exe' and this will open the Firefox uninstaller.

  • How can I sort Bookmarks by name A-Z in the bookmarks drop down menu?

I have tried organize by name but it doesnt give an apply option and doesnt take effect

Sorting Bookmarks in the Library window (Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks) is for temporary display. The Bookmarks are not permanently sorted.
To permanently sort, open the Bookmarks Sidebar (Ctrl+B opens or closes the Bookmarks Sidebar ---- Cmd+B in OSX), right-click (Cmd+click in OSX) the "Bookmarks Menu" folder and choose "Sort by Name". See: <br />

  • How can i add the "Most Visited" tab back to my bookmarks? I deleted it by accident and i want to put it back but i can't find how in the bookmarks menu/toolbar settings.

I just want to add the "Most visited" tab back into my bookmarks toolbar but i can't figure out how.

Si vous avez utilisé la commande Save As Template depuis Pages, il y a forcément un dossier
    iWork > Pages
    contenant Templates > My Templates
comme il y a un dossier
    iWork > Numbers
    contenant Templates > My Templates

  • I do not know if I hit a botton or what but the top of the tool bar where the bookmarks and tools tabs are is gone. How do I get it back?

Bookmarks and tools tabs are gone???

If your Menu Bar, all Toolbars, <u>'''''and Tabs'''''</u> are gone, you are probably in Full Screen Mode. Tap F11 one time to turn Full Screen Mode on or off.

Turning the Menu Bar on and off is a new feature in version 3.6.

The Menu Bar should now be displayed permanently, unless you turn it off again using View > Toolbars. Check mark = displayed, NO check mark = not displayed.

It looks like that the installation process of one of the applications have caused some trouble. One of them may have changed or added kext files.
For that, the Window server crashed if you try to open a non Apple application like Firefox
Start the system in safe mode by holding the shift key on power on.
If save mode is reached, perform a permissions repair with the Disk Utility.
Don't bother about upcoming warnings like "could not repair file xy" as that occur cause you use the tool on a running system and opened files can not get touched by the tool.
After repair is done reboot system to normal and try to open Firefox.
If the problem persits, please report back here.

  • No bookmarks show in the Library (Show All Bookmarks" but they are listed under Bookmarks on the right side of the screen.

All bookmarks are listed in the Bookmark menu (right side of Firefox 19). When I select "Show All Bookmarks", the library comes up, but there are no folders or bookmakrs in the left pane. Entering anything in the search window turns up nothing.
I already uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, same problem. I also use XMarks to sync my bookmarks, but I've never had a problem with that.

By default the bookmark folders are
*Bookmarks Toolbar - these will show on the bookmarks toolbar when you display it
    *Bookmarks Menu
    *Unsorted Bookmarks
You may create further subfolders within any of those, and add separators. Bookmarks may be dragged and dropped or coped between folders. The arrowhead alongside the folder name in the sidebar, menu or library allows you to expand the folder to see the content.
