Anybody, I need help.
My brother lost my ipod touch (2nd gen) and I went to icloud when I realised that I cant locate it because its old version....
Then I started playing with my mac on iCloud and I clicked WIPE. Then I didn't know what that means...
Now, 20 mins ago I started to install updates. Then my mac restarted. It is wiped now. You are wondering how am I here if my mac is wiped?

Awfully small for a new drive..... Been 10 years or so since drives that small were produced.
What is the drive, a Green, Blue or Black?
Is it a SATA Rev 2 (3.0 Gbps) or SATA rev 3 (6.0 Gbps)?
If SATA rev 3, did you install a jumper on pins 5 and 6?
Finally, what's the problem? Not seen? Can't format it?

Hijacked mac-unix gurus, help me please!

This is a very weird situation, please bear with me:
My ibook and desktop g4 were running 1.3.9, the plain consumer version. Or so I thought.
But here is the weird part: after splitting with my ex, I found i had no root access on either of my macs - and no way to regain it.
1.there is a Security Agent installed
2.a Thawte security cerificate/ w key is in the ibook's keychain, the password encrypted and obviously news to me.
3.the ibook HD is locked.
3.Remote desktop agent, apparently running from ibook, controlling every aspect of the desktop.
4. crucial logs are either missing or encrypted.
To clarify, both machines are mine, but the ibook was used primarely by my ex, who claims to be computer illiterate.
Who also denies any knowledge of anything.
And now for the most bizarre part: the ARD, and network manager parts are hidden - the machines "look" ordinary.
The whole operation is camouflaged in the most mind boggling way. By sheer luck, I stumbled on the ibook's "other" interface - just enough to note that the menu is different, and there are weird java scripts all over the place that trigger actions in ways I never saw in Kansas:
example a: itunes extra library stashed in documents folder, which, when imported, added one mp3 file to itunes, but it was no tune - it's name: "connect to server".
example b: expander alias on the desktop - if clicked launches the classic- which runs without showing in the dock, and launches something else...
There are modifier keys involved, but i have no idea what they are - pressing the right ones gets you "in" (to OZ?), otherwise a bogus system preference is launched - I found the script that spells this out, AFTER I have seen it happen
So, there is a very sneaky system within the system, but also very protected:
Every time I wipe, zero all data etc, on a drive, after installing a brand new system....it then "rebuilds" itself to whatever it was before. Yup, complete with email addresses.
So there is apparently an invisible volume on all my drives, where there are munchkins that track and rebuild whatever I
"screw up" - most of all, tell the installer/disk util. how to "wipe".
After 3 weeks of no sleep and sifting through hundreds of pages of logs and scrambled files...I realized whatever is on these two machines is certainly not a case of someone trying to hide the **** surfing; furthermore, I took the plunge and installed a new HD on the ibook, in hope to get rid of it all. At first, the Panther would not install on the new drive - but after I removed the airport card and the extra memory - the installation was fine.
So, what in the world am I dealing with? Everyone I talk to says you can't hardwire any data into macs, but everything points to some doctored part.
True, the new drive does not have the secret volume with X-serve on it, but SOMETHING is still there -sorry, I sound like Aliens script, but i have been reading logs on the ibook and there are a lot of weird apps, jobs and actions trying to launch, then quitting when they don't find the mother ship, that is the server, ftp or whatever.
Please help me out.Until this, I knew nothing about java, and now i am in java ****.
I basically lost both my macs, and what's worse, my IP and my personal name have been whoring on the web, and I have no way of tracking the ftp sites, it's all encrypted.
The cops tell me no laws were broken because I lived with that person - who denies doing it, anyway.
I am supposed to believe there is a Trojan, or a hacker who made it through the password protected network, reformatted my drives, installed the server software, ARD manager, iChat
Agent, Security Agent, deleted all important installation logs, oh, and "upgraded" my ipod as well.
I have text files and many screen shots, if anyone is interested.

Here's a question: have you gone in to NetInfo Utility confirmed that root is enabled under the Security menu?

There is always a security agent installed. How do you think this security agent is messing with your system?

That just means your ex surfed the web and bought something from a merchant who issued her a Thawte certificate. When that happens, OS X will offer (or perhaps automatically) store it in the user's keychain.

What do you mean by that? you should not be able to copy files to system directories or other user's directories. without first gaining administrative access. Do you have an admin level user account? Did your ex? I suppose it's possible she disabled your account's admin privileges. You can check under Accounts in System Preferences (you may have to boot from your Panther install disc and use it to reset your ex's password

What do you mean by every aspect of the system? Is it controlling the mouse? Is it controlling behaviors or configurations? Does it show up in Activity Viewer?

how do you know pressing a certain combination gets you in? in to what, exactly?

Trying to open Premier Pro 1.5 PC file in Premier CS3 on Mac... help! pLEase!

I have an old demo for my business that I'm trying to add to, and insert new footage. This version was last done in Windows XP on a PC with Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. I'm now using a Mac and want to be able to open this with Premiere Pro CS3 on my mac, and edit with all elements in place as is. Is this possible?
The error message says it can't open it and to consult the manual, which I don't have with me while I'm on the road traveling.
I would be SO grateful if anyone is able to help me out.

Let's see if I can get this right. Pr through 6.5 was X-platform, and then with PrPro 1.0 (often called PrPro 7.0, or Pr 7.0 - yes, confusing), Pr went to the PC platform ONLY. Then, with CS3, PrPro became X-platform again. What this means is that if a Project was created with PrPro 1.0 thru PrPro 2.0, it was ONLY on the PC. To Open one of those Projects on the Mac, one must find a user on the PC with CS3, and get them to Open that Project, then Save (would do a Save_As, or Save_As_a_Copy to keep the original intact), and then Copy that CS3 (converted) Project to the Mac. The trick is finding a person with CS3 on the PC, and asking for help. If I had CS3, I'd gladly do this for you. Regardless of what some ads might indicate, PC-users are really nice people. There should be some PC-users with CS3, who will offer to help you. The process is very simple, takes but moments, and the biggest issue is just getting the files (not really THAT large) back and forth.
Were it me, I'd Copy things over to an external (note: to be X-platform, that must be FAT-32 formatted, and could prove to be an issue with the ~ 4GB file size limit) HDD, with everything on it, then ship that off. If one just works with the PRPROJ file (Project file), there will need to be some Asset re-linking, but that is not the end of the world.
Good luck, and if you do not have a PC friend with CS3, wait for some offers to pour in.

I need to use icloud to backup my photos but it says I have 10.3 gb of stuff to back up (I only have the free 5 gb to use). I turned of icloud backup for everything on my phone except photos, which I have 2.2 gb of, but it wont work. Please help me

You probably have a lot of texts with attachments that can't be turned off. Those are automatically part of the backup.
Turn on Photostream also to get your photos backed up. The best method is to backup to your PC.

New mac user, mail help needed please

I have 2 mail accounts synched in my mail. My comcast account is operating fine. My mac account I am not receiving messages. I can send them, but I do not receive. I have a small circle with a small pie slice grayed out, beside my inbox which says messages stored on server. I have used the connection doctor and everything appears ok. I do get an error message when I close mail which says;
_*Some actions taken while the account “[email protected]” was offline could not be completed online.*_
_*Mail has undone actions on some messages so that you can redo the actions while online.*_
_*Additional information: Operation could not be completed. (MFMessageErrorDomain error 1028.)*_
Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry. It was worth asking.
How about this:
In Mail preferences, click Accounts, select the dotMac account, click Advanced and un-check "Enable this account." Then quit Mail and launch it again, and go back and enable the dotMac account.
In Mailbox Behaviors, un-check "Store sent messages on server" and "Store junk messages on server," and also "Store draft messages on server," if any are checked.
Then quit Mail and re-launch.
Check your dotMac mailbox by logging onto .Mac and make sure you have plenty of free disk space assigned to your mail account.
Worth a try.

I just downloaded the newest version of Adobe Reader to my MAC, I need help now please

The End user license agreement did not appear to sign and accept. So now when I open another site to download pdfs, it says I need to launch Adobe Reader and accept the End User License Agreement, then Quit and relaunch the browser.

I currently have a custom built PC thats about 2 years old running Windows XP and Office 2003 (2gb memory, 2.9 ghz intel processor, 256 mb video card, 120 gb seagate s-ata hard drive, etc. I have been contemplating switching over to Mac due to all of the great things i have heard about the systems. I intend on using a student discount and am focusing on a macbook (pref. 2.2 ghz core duo, 2gb mem, 120 HD, etc) with Office 2008 for mac and the apple service plan.
My questions are:
About what time frame is the next generation of macbook expected/estimated to be released and at what price (in comparison to the current macbook).
How truely reliable are these systems? I see a lot of you all posting on here about problems as well as pleanty of people seeking assistance at the Genious Bar in the apple stores; do they really break/fail/glitch that often?
What is the "accessory kit" included in the macbook package?
How does the windows system perform/operate using the mac hardware?
If there is anything else that you all think i should know or feel like sharing, please, be my guest. Thank you in advance for your replies.

My experience has been very positive. Mac's are as reliable as any electronics I've owned. I use Windows at work and Mac OS at home and while I won't say that OS X is absolutely rock solid I think it's as close as you can get. If you read these forums you'll find that many of the problems here are self inflicted, ie: I poured water on my keyboard after I formatted my hard drive, but that was after I dropped my Mac, I have my life on my computer and no back up how do I get it back? It's frustrating sometimes. As this is a user to user forum most of the posts are going to be searching for an answer for some type of problem. Often the users, especially in the MacBook forum, are new to Macs and really just don't know what they're doing yet.

I don't use windows on my Mac. From what I'm told and have read here, windows runs pretty darn good on Mac Hardware. I think it's going to depend on what you're trying to do in Windows.
I know several people who have switched. Some use Mac OS exclusively, some use a blend of Mac and Windows, BUT.....I don't know anyone who has switched back.
Once you go Mac, you'll never go back!

Congratulations on your new iPhone! It sounds like your new iPhone has Activation Lock setup by the previous owner. I am sure you are eager to start using your new iPhone, but before you can, you will need to contact the previous owner to be able to use your new iPhone:

If you purchased Lion for your iMac, just log into the Mac App Store from your MacBook using the Apple ID under which you purchased Lion and go to the Purchases page. You will be able to download and install Lion there.
searching the internet i found a link to upgrtade to 10.7
The only place you get get Lion is from the Mac App Store. If you found some other site, that was an illegal copy and almost certainly tied to someone else's Apple ID and hence unusable by you. If the link was just to the Mac App Store, see above.
As to the problem with synchronization to iCloud, that's not a 10.6 question, so I'd suggest you take up that specific issue in either the Lion or iCloud forums, providing full details, and someone there can probably help you sort things out.

Settings>general>resets>erase all content and settings.
That will put it back to its out of the box state. Set it up with your own apple Id.

Here is some information that you may find helpful with this issue.
I'm not receiving the verification code via SMS.
Make sure that you have a strong cellular network connection on your phone.
Make sure that your phone number can receive SMS messages. You can do this by asking someone to send you a text message.
Make sure that the correct phone number is associated with your account:
iOS 7.0.3 or later: Tap Settings > iCloud > Account, then tap Keychain. Make sure the phone number under Verification Number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
OS X Mavericks v10.9 or later: Choose Apple () > System Preferences. Click iCloud, then click Account Details. Make sure the phone number listed under Verification number is correct. If not, enter another phone number.
If you can't access a device that has iCloud Keychain enabled, you can contact Apple Support and verify your identity to get help completing iCloud Keychain setup.
