I wiped my MacBook Pro due to a problem, will I have to pay for iMovie or iPhoto that was originally installed on my older MacBook Pro ?
Due to a problem with my older MacBook Pro I had to wipe it clean. Now I no longer have iPhoto or iMovie , will I have to pay for those programs ? If so, are there any older versions available I can download for free.
a brandnew Mac (=aka after a clean isntall), should be registered with an AppleID.
Then, you're entitled to download the pre-installed apps for free from AppStore, just log-in with that Apple-ID...-

My MacBook Pro is a work computer, and my company may need to run a factory reset on it. I don't have much faith in their abilities to save any of my info, so I am backing all my photos and videos up on an external hard drive, but I am concerned I will lose my purchased apps in the process.
Is there any way I can get those back later if I need to? There's a lot of purchased apps on my MacBook Pro.
Thanks!Like posted above if you purchased them from the Mac App store all you have to do is Login to the MAS with the same Apple ID used to buy them and they will be available for Re-Download and install.
If you purchased some of them from the developers website then the developer might of sent you a registration code in an email. Find those and make a Text Document out of them and then Print that text Doc and save it to that external for safe keeping.
You can then go back to the developer website and re-download their program and install it using that key/reg code to authorize it. -

Via time machine I used my back up of my previous Macbook Pro if this has any relation to my problem.
Now I feel like being blackmailed by Apple ....... pay or you will loos all your pictures .....You haven't purchased iPhoto yet, have you? If not then contact Apple as ask them why iPhoto wasn't included with the other applications on the MacBook Air? Because it should have been. You do not need to purcahse it.
You can take it to a local Apple store with your purchase papers and have them install any missing applicaitons.
OR, if you still have your MacBook Pro and the disks that came with it? If so you can connect the two Macs with a FireWire cable, with the Mac Air in Target Disk Mode, Transferring files between two computers using FireWire,, and run the Software Installer disk on the MPB to install iPhoto on your MacBook Air.

I recently installed OS X Mavericks and when I tried to update iMovie and iPhoto, it wouldn't let me becaus it said they were downloaded under a different Apple ID, so I tried to uninstall and reinstall them from scratch, and now it won't even let me accept them. I can't watch YouTube videos on my brand new MacBook Pro with Lion. It says I need to download Adobe Flash Player but that won't install. Help!
The same thing happens to me, Safari asks me to update the Adobe FlasPlayer, I download, start the installation process, ask me my username and password in order to install, then see a window where I choose if I want to always install the updates , or ask first, or not inslate updates, and at this point it is not progress, I can not cancel the process, I turn off and turn on my machine.
What can I do ..??

Why I still have to pay for iWork on my new MacBook Pro ?
I bought a new MacBook Pro in last Friday ,25 October. But there is no iWork pre-installed in the system.(ps. The system is OS X 10.9 now) When I try to install iWork from App Store ,,it shows I still have to pay for $19.99 for Numbers. Could u tell what happened and what should I do?

Buying a MacBook Pro in Seattle on a University visit. How much tax will I have to pay? I am attending the University of Washington in January so I assume I will be able to get student discount, but will I have to pay state tax - as I am not from the US?

I just bought my macbook pro a few months ago. It came loaded on with version 10.6.8. I've been thinking about updating to 10.7.3, but do I have to pay for it? I already have the lion software running so it seems like a rip off to have to pay $30 for a small update.
To know exactly what version of OS X you have, go to the "apple" in the menu bar (top left) then "About this Mac", you will see your version of OS X.
If you see 10.7.x you have Lion. You can update to 10.7.3 by selecting software update.
If you see 10.6.8 you will have to buy Lion in the App Store.

Is it possible to retrieve a registration key for a hard copy of iWork 06? Moved and cannot locate disc, and replaced the computer it was originally installed on. When I transferred the iWork from original Macbook Pro to new Macbook Pro, the reg key apparently didn't transfer. Any ideas?
Do you still have access to the old MacBook Pro? If so, you can transfer the license by copying the com.apple.iwork.plist from Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences to the same location on the new Mac. Note that this IS the main HD Library, not your user library. I have found that these files are not moved during setup or migration.
Are you really running Tiger 10.4.7? If so, you should update to 10.4.11. You can find the updater here. You also might consider buying the retail disk of iWork '09 from a third-party such as Amazon.com or eBay. It will add a lot of features for you. iWork '09 does require Tiger 10.4.11 at a minimum. -

I agree with you that Apple should cover it, and that if they're initially unwilling to, then a complaint should be raised. However, the poster remarked that he went to an Apple store, Apple diagnosed the problem as being faulty RAM, and then the poster said that he has to pay $200 for "a new one" (new RAM, I presume). No matter what you or I say on here, if the representative that the poster spoke to brought up a $200 charge, then what is he going to do? "Some users on the internet told me it should be free, so I'm not going to pay that - just fix it for free"?
Or maybe I'm having trouble following what happened. It seems to me that if the poster went to an Apple store and had a system that was within warranty, if Apple found a problem, they would replace it for free. In that case, where did the poster get the number for the $200 charge, and why is it even necessary to ask if it's covered? Either he encountered an Apple Genius who didn't handle the case properly, or there's more to the story that he's not revealing (water damage, or so on). -

If it was an audiobook then they are one-time only downloads, to get it on your other devices you need to sync it to them and not re-download it oneach. Have a student / teacher subscription. Trying to download and install applications on new mac pro with yosemite. Old applications still work on older Mac Pro. Can't download any applications. Creative Cloud website and desktop app both fail. Very frustrating. Anyone having this problem?
Chas50 I would recommend removing the currently installed Adobe Creative software. You can then install the new versions of the Adobe Creative software included with your membership.
